Wondering how FANS 6, 12, and 24 hour ULTRA race got it's name? FANS is an acronym which stands for Furthering Achievement through a Network of Support, is a program of Pillsbury United Communities (PUC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota that supports urban teenagers in achieving their goal of earning a college education. It has been an up and down week since I came home from BLU 72. I was at 78 miles when I got the Weasel call and she needed me to come home. I wanted to complete my 20th 100 mile or longer race but the 22 miles was going to take me 7 hours especially when she called at hour 30. I needed some sleep and did take a short nap and shower before I headed back to Bako.
To add to the stress I start a ten week training program with Fit For Life which included tightening up my 16 / 8 regimen. All of this has lead to a roller coaster of energy and motivation. But I want to be prepared for FANS 24 and TGNY 100 in June.
No better combination! Raising money for kids and walking and running!
I just got my plane ticket to Minnesota to do the FANS 24 Hour walk please consider making a donation!
I look forward to doing laps with Scott, Ed and many others.

When you have maxed out on weekly mileage (I am doing 100 plus a week) it's time to run a cost / benefit analysis and see what else you can do, The concept of diminishing returns applies to mileage so I am hitting the gym to work on my mobility for my upcoming 100 mile tour of New York City

In this episode I talk about my experience with night ultra starts as an athlete and crew / pacer. Can't really think of any Pros except that the Pros get to run all night. There are many Cons however.

Been watching "Huge in France" with Gad and took away the message that you have to be yourself. If that means you ruffle some feathers or make people want to hit you ...
So in this episode I talk about training or the lack of it by many out there in the endurance running world. YOU CAN NOT CROSS TRAIN YOUR WAY TO RUNNING SUCCESS. #JustRun #BeBoringNotEpic #80/20

Lots of articles about athlete's success at Boston and there is a common theme, weekly mileage. You should convert the miles to minutes and realize you can train like the elites but at your level. A 120 mile week for a sub 2:10 guy is only 12 hours a week based on a the Jack Daniel's VDOT calculator which says Easy Pace for a 2:10 guy is sub 6 minute miles.
So get out there and put your hours in.

I felt great after the Silver Moon 12 Hour on Monday but was so slow on Tuesday. Delayed reaction is real for me. Do a marathon and feel it asap. Something longer and it hits me days later. I think it is because you are so jacked up on hormones and adrenaline etc. Though I was in training I was working quickly on my new website design, Mindbody app, and I had an phone interview with a reporter from Sports Illustrated where I think I burned some Bridges.
And I left yet another social media group because it's leader is a bully.
