My Dirty Laundry | a podcast of ideas

By Angelissa Untalan
Off-the-cuff observations, wonderings, ideas and trips through my brain (and on my heart) on how everything is connected and how the Divine is working in our world & lived experiences —at home, at work, at rest, and at spaces in between. To explore is to pause & think: ask questions, gain clarity, find meaning.

Ep 4 YMAS Raising Kings with May Palacpac
What does creativity look like in your home? How do you manage potential? A little bit of this and a little bit of that, this was an epic catch up & exploration on many subjects around the value of seasons and stepping out in faith. May, a dear friend from highschool, shares her joys & sorrows in raising her children while being a jane of all trades in both entrepreneurship and stewardship. (May has been a consummate artist since the age of 14. She and her husband Jay "have been a homeschooling family of more than 10 years, using the interest-led approach" on their three boys, Pablo, Lukas and Judah. Her blog,, is a good resource on tips & advice for family, marriage, parenting, money matters and tiny living. Check out Raising Kings PH on YouTube to get a glimpse of the talent & hope this family of artists offers to the world.)

Ep 3 Spin: Turtle Shells
A turtle's shell is part of the turtle's body. It is attached and if ripped off will hurt the creature. What are we attached to or what holds space in our life that if ripped from us will either heal us or kill us? The truth is that those which we hold most valuable will take up the most space.

Ep 2 Spin: Opinions
Perception is powerful. And a veritable poison when it becomes the substitute for the truth. Opinions are an angle aka a spin, an embellishment to what is essentially true. Truth is its own spin. How have both our individual & collective stories regressed into mere opinions? Would it be (more) helpful to curb that opinion instead?

Ep 1 Spin: Thoughts
*A quick-ish update on the podcast* and my latest reflections for the start of the year. Thoughts are a powerful thing. If we only know how to engage it, and even question it maybe we will be a bit more discerning and less regretful. "Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny." Ep 11 Rinse: Something New
"What child is this?" And I add, what does this child see when there is no story yet to see? How we tell the narrative depends on how we perceive or project { on } our experiences. We can either wither in regret or be open to wonder —to see something new behind all these experiences. Then maybe we can approach life from a child's perspective. (Thank you to DJ Boogey the Beat & all my guests on YMIA this season.) More to come soon! 🎄🎄🎄 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Ep 3 YMAS Empty Spaces with Eva Tamayo
What does an empty space look like to you? For entrepreneur Eva Tamayo (or April as her friends fondly call her) empty spaces have become more than what they seem. She gives us a unique and hopeful perspective and I am fortunate to discuss this with her in more depth. Her lived experience is inspiring and a story worth sharing. (April is the Community Events lead for her company, The Foundry Room, a private studio loft event space for weddings, business functions, celebrations and the like. She and her team of in-house specialists strive to ensure the experience is as unique as the event by offering several all inclusive packages that include in-house catering, one of a kind rentals, photography packages, as well as an event design specialist to bring events to life. Visit to book your event.)

Ep 10 Rinse: Waiting
What is the point of waiting? How do we remain joyful in the anticipation of something amazing? The questions we ask and the quiet sit while we wait may help clarify many things. Waiting is an art, a process, and an opportunity to grow. [ music by Boogey the Beat ]

Ep 2 YMAS The Blueprint of a Passionate Life with Kirby S. Llaban
How does one define passion? How do you find it? How is it sustained? Author, motivational speaker, trainer, songwriter and passion coach Kirby S. Llaban joins me in conversation about his book "The Fired Up Life: Passion Principles to Motivate You for Work and Life" —which he defines as "a life of passion in pursuit of a dream." Here we explore what a passionate life could look like and what the basic framework is from start to finish. After 16 years of missionary work Kirby found himself on a new adventure, emboldened with the same great purpose, wisdom at his core and a growing creativity, and invests in the gifts God has given him which in turn has blessed him & his family. (Kirby helps others by fanning the flame lying dormant in the hearts of many by helping them discover, build and spread  the fire of their God-given passion. Visit or for more information. His new book "365 Fired Up Days" is out now. Order your copy today.)

Ep 1 YMAS Process & Presence with Jade Stanton-Hauser
Mental health and its challenges is always significant especially in this day and age. These struggles are best faced with a mentor and guide, and with discipline & wisdom. Jade Stanton-Hauser, my friend and a mental health coach from Stuart, Florida, knows this all too well. Here we learn the value and virtue of process and presence as she shares about her day-in-a-life experiences and the game-changing world of dialectics she thrives in. (Jade started coaching after spending years in recovery from severe depression, anxiety, chronic suicidal thoughts, and Borderline Personality Disorder. Her mission is to make mental health a priority for women and families, to help women in unbearable pain to build a daily practice of easy-applied tools for managing emotional ups and downs, and walk them step-by-step through the challenges until they uncover the warrior inside themselves. Check out her website at for more information.)

Ep 6 Rinse: Caves
The stuff we hide can be unpretty. It can also be enlightening. What does the cave of your heart look like? Care to discover something worth exploring? Be curious but exercise caution, and let God be the guide. [ music by Boogey the Beat ]

Ep 5 Rinse: Chances
Is opportunity a matter of luck or happenstance? Is it a risk or a game of chance? If God was a gambler, he bet on blessing. And won. I wonder how we perceive opportunity from the lenses of grace. [ music by Boogey the Beat ]

Ep 4 Rinse: Regrets
Regret is part of process, it is "a teacher" as Brené Brown wrote. As students of life and mystery we just need to figure out what the lesson is. If this was your last day, what would be that one regret you can face today? [ music by Boogey the Beat ]

Ep 3 Rinse: Deadlines
Deadlines can be harrowing, ominous and a lot of pressure. But, it is what makes a difference between a decision and a dilemma. Do we need to have all the answers before we take the leap or would taking the leap give us clarity? [ music by Boogey the Beat ]
July 31, 2020
Ep 2 Rinse: History
Past decisions, past regrets, past opportunities. These make up our (shared) history. When you look back what is looking back at you? [ music by Boogey the Beat ]

Ep 1 Beginnings
This was a big idea that is now a podcast. Where did it all begin? Sometimes random is not so random. Or maybe it is. You be the judge. [ music by Boogey the Beat ]

Ep 8 Wash: Start Over
Crayons and crumpled paper. It can be an opportunity to grumble or grow. For me, this is a do-over, a reset, a recalculation. So, here is not goodbye but a see-you-later. [ music by Kevin McLeod ]

Stress is both good and bad, depending on how you look at it. It will either push you to creativity or frustrate your issues around control. What is your workaround for such situations? [ music by Kevin McLeod ]
May 10, 2020
Ep 5 Wash: Loss
What would it profit man to gain the world and lose his soul? Loss is not at all negative, and neither is gain all good. Perspective and possibilities abound in the gray around these particular life questions. (p.s. Enjoy my first-ever poem "Loss" published on audio!) [ music by Kevin McLeod ]
May 6, 2020
Ep 4 Wash: Freedom
When man is not free what is he? When man is not alive how is he? The subject of freedom and liberty is a dirty topic. Where we draw the line is also where we may find a balance. Pondering this will require introspection and time. [ music by Kevin McLeod ]

Ep 3 Wash: Need
We will always be in need and in a state of asking for help because we are creatures. Thank God we have a Creator who provides. When was the last time you sought His help? It's okay. He knows what we need and will answer with no delay. (And to hopefully remind you my song cover of Matt Maher's "Lord I Need You" is attached for you.)
