The major difference between Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder.

The major difference between Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Hey loves, welcome back to another episode of Chinannashow. In this episode, I cover the difference between Bipolar and Borderline personality disorder.

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder characterized by alternating periods of mania and depression. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by unstable emotions, relationships, and a sense of self. While both conditions can involve mood swings, they are distinct disorders with different symptoms and treatment approaches.

Bipolar Disorder 2 with Steve Wilson

Bipolar Disorder 2 with Steve Wilson

DISCLAIMER: THIS EPISODE DISCUSSES RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT. IF THIS IS A TOUCHY TOPIC FOR YOU PLEASE SKIP THIS EPISODE.

Welcome back to another episode of The Chinanna Show where I interviewed Steve Wilson the author of the book call Tethering. Below is a synopsis of the book

TEETERING, my bipolar journey, is the story of my lifelong battle for balance. For most of my 74 years, I have suffered from bipolar disorder. Descending into the depths of suicidal intentions or rising to the high of watching the births of my children, I have endured a roller coaster ride of epic proportions. My memoir takes the reader on a chronological journey of emotions recounting my rape when I was nine years old, my desire to take my own life, and my attempt to kill my father. It recounts my voyage through therapy and my successes and failures using prescribed psychological medications and highlights my recovery. For the last seven years, I have been the facilitator of two mental health support groups in Phoenix, Arizona. Through my own experiences and those of the numerous people I have worked with, I consider myself to be knowledgeable on real-life bipolar disorder. TEETERING is both a deeply personal memoir and a call to action, rallying the reader to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental illness and find the support they need to resurrect their lives. TEETERING has been released on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. If you have an interest in learning more about TEETERING Please visit  swwilson.wilson@gmail.com.

How to feel better about starting your journey to getting better ft Niall Higgins

How to feel better about starting your journey to getting better ft Niall Higgins

Productivity is not an easy task these days with the number of distractions that are present in our lives. This makes it hard to start any new journey we embark upon and to familiarize ourselves with the steps it will take to achieve the goal without suffering through it. Today I sit down with Nile Higgins, a self-improvement coach and singer from South Africa, to discuss ways in which we can make the transition easier for ourselves.   Episode takeaway: 1) Start off small. Highlight the motion steps you can be taking right now towards your main goal. This will help you remain focused on the goal without feeling overwhelmed. It also gives you appreciation for the journey because each small moment allows you to feel gratitude towards the main goal.   2) Try to meet yourself where you are. If you already enjoy a particular task, try to pair it with something you enjoy, for example. I love reading, so I use reading as a way of healing by finding books on things I am currently struggling with. 3) Motivation is not always going to be present every day. Sometimes you are not able to cultivate motivation, and you just have to start the process to develop motivation towards what you want to accomplish.   4) Remember to accept yourself for who you are. You are not a constant self-improvement project. You don't always have to try fixing yourself; by doing that, you are telling yourself that something is always wrong with you. It is all about balance and feeling satisfied with what you do. For more information on the topic, please check out the podcast episode. The destigmatization of men seeking mental health assitance

The destigmatization of men seeking mental health assitance

In the past, men have been socialized to believe that seeking help is a sign of weakness. This has led to a culture where men are less likely to seek help for their mental health issues or personal problems. However, in recent years, there has been a growing movement to destigmatize seeking help among men.

One reason for this shift is the recognition that mental health issues affect everyone regardless of gender. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health issues, despite the fact that they are just as likely to experience these issues. This is due in part to the societal expectation that men should be strong and self-reliant.

In this episode we cover ways in which we can start the process of destigmatization, talking points include:

1) Raise awareness about the importance of mental health and to provide resources for men who may be struggling. This includes providing access to therapy, support groups, and other mental health services that are tailored to men's needs.

2) Men may face unique challenges when seeking mental health support. For example, men may feel pressure to conform to traditional gender roles and may be hesitant to seek help for fear of being seen as weak or vulnerable. Mental health services that are tailored to men's needs and provide a safe and supportive environment can help address these concerns and encourage more men to seek help. 3) Another way to destigmatize seeking help among men is by providing accessible and affordable mental health services. Many men may be hesitant to seek help due to financial concerns or lack of access to resources. By making mental health services more accessible and affordable, more men may be willing to seek help when they need it. In conclusion, while progress has been made in destigmatizing men seeking help, there is still more work to be done. By continuing to raise awareness, providing accessible and affordable mental health services, and addressing the unique challenges that men may face, we can encourage more men to seek the assistance they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives. I Was Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder: Here's What You Need to Know About Self-Regulation

I Was Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder: Here's What You Need to Know About Self-Regulation

Being diagnosed with bipolar disorder can be overwhelming. It's a mental health condition that affects a person's mood, energy, and ability to function in daily life. Bipolar disorder is characterized by manic and depressive episodes, which can be difficult to manage without proper treatment and self-regulation techniques.

Stick to a routine: Establishing a daily routine can help regulate your sleep patterns, eating habits, and overall mood. Try to wake up and go to bed at the same time every day, eat balanced meals, and make time for physical activity. example ( for me I ensure to go on walks every morning and if there is a morning I am unable to go I take a shower and ensure I have breakfast that normally helps me have less mental staring throughout the day.

Identify triggers: Certain situations or events can trigger episodes of mania or depression. Identify your triggers and try to avoid them or develop coping strategies to deal with them effectively. for example when I think about my family I can get in a really depressive mood I ensure to create my own safe space so I don't have to think about them much. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness meditation and other relaxation techniques can help you stay calm and centered during stressful situations. It can also help you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, allowing you to regulate them more effectively. Go outside and practice deep breathing exercise.

Self-regulation is a continuous process, and it takes time and effort to develop effective strategies. Don't be discouraged if it takes some trial and error to find what works best for you. With patience and persistence, you can learn to manage your bipolar disorder and live a fulfilling life.

Remember, you are not alone in this. There are many resources available to help you manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life. Take care of yourself and reach out for help when you need it.

Hey loves

Welcome to season 3 episode 19 of The Chinanna Show podcast. In today's episode we discuss what is manifestation, and how this has been a blessing in our lives. my guest laurel Moore and I shared personal stories of how we manifested some of the things we wanted overtime and how you can too.

About Guest:

Laurel went to UWI and graduated with first class honors for a major in Animal Biology and minor in Psychology. she struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts and schizophrenia, she's mental health advocate who believes in a holistic approach to mental wellness. her Instagram (@spectaculaurthoughts) is aimed at providing a sense of community for others who struggle with mental health issues or just to provide motivation to get through life in general while her YouTube (SpectacularThoughts) is mostly her sharing her story and being vulnerable about her journey.

Episode take away :

* Manifestation is the flow of energy used to cerate/bring dreams, ideas and desires to life. whatever you believe combined with action

is what you will achieve, as Marcus Gravy would say If you haven't confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started.”

*You cant manifest from a place of lack and you cant be too anxious or else it will not work, think about you dreams and desires as a cat,

you have to let it come to you by doing certain things and remaining calm, running after it will only chase it away.

* To start you have to work on your spiritual self , you have to be self aware of what is holding you back and work on improving that.

Episode takeaways

Stop emotional dumping on customer service representatives.

Customer service Representatives interact with a lot of people on the daily therefore bear this in mind before you interact with them.

Treat people how you would like them to treat you therefore it is not okay for you to go out there and be nasty to customer service Representatives.

Pour me a cup of ''consent''

Pour me a cup of ''consent''

Hey loves

Welcome to season 3 episode 10 of The Chinanna show podcast. In today's episode we discussed consent, what it means and how it affects us when the right to say yes is taken away.

About Guest

Our guest today is Leah who enthusiastically wanted to add her voice to the discussion

She is good at writing, event design, baking, and crunching numbers, and she loves to engage in the topics of live music, feminism, food sustainability and psychedelics....all of which she believes support social wellness.

Episode takeaways

Consent is when all persons know what they are consenting a person cannot say yes when they are not self aware or they do not know what they are saying yes to.

Realistically some parents try to have the Consent conversation but it's normally directed towards strangers when it's family members or those who are close that harm you in that kind of way.

There are different froms of rape and violation it doesn't always have to be violent but it can come off as malicious such as sleathing ( where someone takes off a condom during sex and the other party is not aware).

You can start teaching children about consent when they are old enough to interact and are going into public spaces

You should be able to say no at any time without an explanation.

These and may other points where discuss in this episode if you are interested check out the full episode for details

Episode Takeaway :

Starting a business with someone requires a special kind of trust, you have to trust that your partner will show up and do their part.

When working for yourself you have to be careful of people that will waste your time.

Having a tunnel vision of what you want is very important, don't let others lead you astray away from what you want to achieve

Keep clutter out of your space, only keep what you need to get the task done so you are not distracted.

Sometimes having your own business can be overwhelming but it's worth it because there is more freedom in certain areas even though you are the one in charge of everything if not most things.

Learn how to adapt to change when certain things aren't working for you and make sure to have passion for the business you choose.

Remember you are a human being not a workhorse you will have days when your not feeling well allow yourself to take that break.

Always look for an opportunity to reinvent yourself, Bad days our going to come and they present us with the opportunity to jump off into something that will make us uncomfortable but worth what your gonna gain from it.

Sharpening the skills that you are good at for your business. If your good at video editing and that's beneficial to your business sharpening that so that you can save money in that area.

Welcome back to another episode season2 episode 19

This is the first episode of the young business owner series where we talk about everything in business ,from how to start one ,overcoming obstacles and my favorite, business and mental

health.

About our guest :

So my name is Matty ( Matthew Walters) and I’m the Co-Founder of The Travel Story Society. I’m a 23 year old from the UK and I love everything to do with travel. So far I’ve been to 30 countries across 4 continents and every country in the world is on my bucket list. I created The Travel Story Society with my girlfriend when we were forced to stop travelling due to Covid and we realised most travel blogs are just mundane guides to a place. We love to hear travel stories and we set up the society so that people can share their travel stories on our website and we get to read them as well

You have to be patient and know what you are about when it comes to rejection. People will say no to you whether you like it or not.

Set small goals that can propel you to meet your bigger goals.

work on cultivating your brand the way in which you want it and refinding your products.

Study ,study study, whatever it takes to educate yourself on everything around your business just do it.

It's very important to plan ahead of time. As simple as it may sound it helps you to be organized.

Have a friend or two to hold you accountable when you have problems doing so.

Remember to take a break when it's needed because the effects of burn out can be permanent.

Navigating a bad relationship with your mother on mother's day

Navigating a bad relationship with your mother on mother's day

Hey loves

#jamaicanpodcaster #growingpodcast #mentalheathawareness #selfimprovement #mentalfitness

Welcome back to another episode season2 episode 17, Where I speak about dealing with having a bad/toxic relationship with your mother and how to navigate that on mother's day.

Episode Takeaways

Don't feel bad if you're not close to your mother and if you don't feel ready to try to be either.

Try not to have prolonged conversations with your parents if you don't share the same view and they can't respect that.

Remember that your feelings are valid, don't let anyone invalidate your feelings by telling you that you only get one mother they won't understand because they haven't been in the situation you have been.

Stay off social media for that day and couple days after that you might realize feelings of shame will come up from not having that type of relationship with your mother.

When you get the chance to leave don't go back to the environment unless you feel that's what you really want.
