Had the honor of having two coaches corner segments firstr with Jon Warren Assistrant Coach at Langston University and HC of AAU team Bleessed OK. Jon joined LU and HC Chris Wright's staff in June 2022. Warren served as team captain for three years as he played for Coach Wright at Central Baptist College for on season and then two seasons at Talladega college. During that time, he tallied 69 wins and three trips to the NAIA National Tournament.
Also I had another guest in Zach LeMay who is the HC of North Valley HS Varsity GBB he's a 2x 3A West Coast COY (2022-23 & 2023-24) 3A North C0- COY (2022-23) 2x Northern Nevada All-Star Game HC (2022-23 & 2023-24), 2X League Champions (2022-23 & 2023-24) and also host of the "Not In My House Podcast"

My special guest on Player Spotlight is Ashley Singhateh from Maize South. She was first team Kansas Class 5A 1st team and Player of the year and played a key role in Maize South ending a dominating run knocking off 7X Class 5A defending champs St. Thomas Aquinas in Class 5A Semi-Finals. Also the passing of O.J. Simpson at the age of 76 in his battle with cancer. Also Diana Taurasi goes after LSU's Angel Reese: "Wave bye-bye to your own career" and trash talking Caitlin Clark.

Today on the Coaches Corner, I welcome aboard Coach Danny Allen who is an assistant coach who was born in Florida got his Masters from Ohio University (Another Shade of Green). In this episode we talked about his journey that led him to Derby, and what the Derby experience has been like. We talked about some amazing performances in state tournament and the seniors that paved the way for Derby and left it's mark on the program. I also shared the Lynette Woodard story and hail as The G.O.A.T. one who has blazed many trails for this game know as women's basketball and a Kansas Legend.

March Madness in Kansas HS
Maize South Lady Mavs a #2 seed faced a #7 seed and 7 time defending state champion in St. Thomas Aquinas and entered as an underdog. The game went into overtime as Maize South pulled out the win led by Skylar Seals 24 points on 6-8 FG's and 5-7 3pt FG's as Ashley Singhateh chipped in with 19. Andover also won it's quarter final game knocking off Blue Valley SW as they were led in scoring by another freshman phenom in Bella Bouddhara's 19 points followed by Brook Walker with 16 and Aliyah Green with 12. The Sub-States have been settled, teams have punched there tickets to the big dance known as the State tournament in classes 6A-1A-ll. I want to say let the Madness begin but, it already has as evidenced by the Blue Aces of Wichita East High having pulled of the upset to get to the dance. A special thanks to my special guest in The Coaches Corner Kip Pulliam HC of the Lady Falcons of Heights HS who too has punched there ticket to the dance in what looks to be a loaded bracket with the likes of Washburn Rual a team that beat heights earlier, Derby, SMNW, SMS, Manhattan, Olathe South BVN. Shot clock coming to Kansas HS Basketball, Mills plans shake-up and finger pointing in Pittsburgh
Today we learn that for the 2024-25 the shot clock will be in use on a trial basis however it will not be used in the state tournament. In the midst of a 5 game losing streak, Paul Mills looks to shake things while on the road starting first at Flordia Atlantic then at USF as Wichita State now stands 0-3 in the AAC. Int the NFL now that the season has ended we foun d out Dak Prescott is still respected in the lockerroom, Jalen Hurts has confidence in everybody we just nee to "play clean football."
