"Life is a balance of holding on and letting go." -Rumi

On today's episode Abby and Margot welcome their next guest, Giselle Shardlow. Giselle is a former classroom educator and trained yoga professional. She's the founder of Kids Yoga Stories, a company dedicated to creating valuable resources to bring yoga to kids everywhere and much more. Her story is largely about how she's framed her anxiety into two parts. The first from before she became a Mom and the second from after. Growing up she was labeled as a worry wort or "overly sensitive", but didn't know she'd been anxious until years later. Her story journey's from her early adult years when she was a world traveler and teacher in Guatemala, to what it was like many years later in young motherhood coping with her daughters struggles with anxiety and other needs and how these experiences (and how she related to them) felt different in mind and body. Giselle offers the Warriors a myriad of useful tools and modalities for approaching care, compassion and support for her anxiety. With countless moments of warmth and wisdom, she reminds listeners about the beauty of humanity and how with a bit more effort and surrender... we can all overcome life's obstacles with more ease.

154. "Being Authentically Me." With Michelle El Khoury

"Details matter. They create depth, and depth creates authenticity." -Neil Blumenthal
On today's episode Abby and Margot welcome their next guest, Michelle El Khoury. Dr. Michelle El Khoury is is founder of Yogamazia, a yoga studio specifically focused on maternal
and children’s wellness education based in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She
brings over twenty years of healthcare experience, is a published author and speaker, in addition  to being a credentialed perinatal and yoga professional. Michelle's story is filled with the layers and depth that form from living life to its fullest in every way. Her anxiety journey is no different. She shares openly about the many factors that have been part of her experience, such as struggling to manage her 1st pregnancy, juggling  20+ years of climbing the corporate ladder and more. She'd been through many epiphanies along the way, but what cultivated the most change was changing careers during the pandemic. Michelle knew deep down she was meant for something different from the world she (and her girls) had known, so she founded Yogamazia to help others find their support systems and improve their lives. She offers so many tools and tips for coping with anxiety and stress and reminds the Warriors that the best gift we have is to live authentically.

The Warriors dive into Part 2 of Anxiety Diaries; A mini series where they share some of the big or little anxieties they notice coming up for them lately. Not all anxieties fit neatly into a box or category, so from time to time they'll share the latest in life's roller coaster moments and how they are navigating those challenges. For today, Abby shares about how she feels about the evolution of her body and its impact on her overall wellbeing and Margot shares about the stress and overwhelm that she's been experiencing from opening up a new brick and mortar kids yoga studio. They share about that and more and offer the Warriors the opportunity to reflect on what's been on their mind lately and how to show up for themselves.

"Being an anxiety warrior is about finding a loving relationship with my anxiety." -Jesse Israel

On today's episode, Abby and Margot are thrilled and honored to welcome Jesse Israel to the podcast. Jesse is a social entrepreneur, meditation leader and former record label executive known for founding the mass meditation movement The Big Quiet. In 2020 Jesse was invited to go on tour with Oprah Winfrey and WW to speak at and lead mass meditations at sold-out arenas throughout the US. He's been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, and the WSJ along with several other leading publications.

As a kid, Jesse only noticed performance anxiety during sports with adults watching him. He shares how in many ways he felt as if he'd peaked in his middle school years because it was a time of his life when he felt free. Free to create and be a leader without fear and self doubt. Then, after being part of a prank gone wrong... everything changed. His anxiety grew, and as he grew new challenges proved more difficult because of it. In his early 20's after achieving wild success in the music business he began to have panic attacks which led him to realize that it was time to make massive shifts in his life. With therapy, meditation, and a supportive community he was able to help himself so that in turn he could help others to create massive shifts in their life. He offers the Warriors many useful tips for learning to form a loving and embracing relationship to anxiety, and see it as a teacher rather than an enemy. As always, the Warriors have a blast getting to know Jesse in lightning round and he shares a fantastic win of the week!

Mimi is a long time friend of the pod and founder of Mimi's Yoga Kids. Mimi is doing some incredible things in the wellness space in her home state of Georgia and beyond right now--including being an ambassador for the Africa Yoga Project. About the mission: It's an opportunity for individuals who are leaders in the wellbeing industry to collaborate in the empowerment of African communities using yoga as the catalyst for change. Ambassadors are required to reach a fundraising pledge of $10,000 to allow them to join the AYP team in Kenya where they will spend 14 days working directly and sharing their knowledge with our teachers and the communities that Africa Yoga Project empowers. Seasons change...and so do we.

In this week's episode, Abby and Margot welcome their 3rd and very special guest, Camelia (aka Mimi) Felton. Mimi is a yoga teacher for children and founder of Mimi's Yoga Kids.

Mimi shares her anxiety story which largely began on the morning of her 30th birthday when she woke up and realized she wasn't where she wanted to be...in body, mind, and soul. She talks openly about her anxiety regarding relationships to family, and herself and the struggle to try and be a caretaker for everyone all the time. We learn about how Mimi's anxieties have shifted as the seasons of her life shift, and she reminds us that we have choices and power over our mindset/goals. We hear about Mimi's past and current habits and coping strategies that allow her to thrive instead of survive.

Mimi shares a wonderful win of the week that you won't want to miss, and we have some fun with lightning round questions!

"No one is you, and that is your superpower." -Elyse Santilli

On today's episode, Abby and Margot welcome their next guest; Darius Fennell. Darius is a mental health recovery and therapy advocate, a passionate published author, and a support group facilitator among many other things. He shares his journey with anxiety which started from childhood as a chronic worrier and empath. In his youth Darius was very competitive and had a 'winning is everything' mentality, often externalizing his own self worth. His anxiety followed him into adulthood, as it does for so many Warriors, still having no label for his experience. He hit the breaking point after having a full blown panic attack at age 40, which landed him in the hospital. After being diagnosed with GAD, depression, and agoraphobia after several physical tests came back 'normal,' he knew it was time to take life by the reins and seek support for his mental health. He started therapy, went to support groups, and game planned strategies for coping with anxiety. Darius shares so many inspiring, and valuable anecdotes as well as useful tools and skills to try. The Warriors have a blast in the lightning round per usual, and Darius shares a fantastic win of the week!
