158. "Meet yourself where you are" with Gabrielle Jacobson
"Accept-then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it." -Eckhart Tolle
On today's episode Abby and Margot welcome their next guest, Gabrielle Jacobson. Gabrielle is a former Oxford physics student who has transformed into a dedicated data scientist and coach. She channels her years of anxiety and learning about herself into mentoring others, volunteering to help people with their University applications and she's especially passionate about helping women who've experienced similar pressures on their journey. She shares that she recalls anxiety starting around age 10 and notes that she specifically felt it as a student when each year the coursework became more challenging. Gabrielle shares that when she entered University, she began to work towards creating healthier habits surrounding her anxiety, such as therapy, tracking feelings, educating herself on the cyclical nature of her anxiety, finding community and more. Gabrielle's superpower is finding acceptance in where she's at, and meeting her needs with a sense of flow and empowerment.

157. Mansplaining. Enough said. Literally.
"Oh now I get it." -Said no one ever after being mansplained to.
On today's episode, Abby and Margot talk about the experience of being mansplained to. It had started with a viral video that they shared of Pro golfer, Georgia Ball being mansplained at while she was filming a video for her IG at the driving range. It unsurprisingly enraged the Warriors, so they knew it was time to chat about this ridiculous phenomenon. That is when a man talks at a woman for any amount of time, usually unsolicited, and often about a subject that she knows a good amount about. Note: Even if she doesn't, that doesn't open doors for 'education' or offering up opinions. They share stories of being mansplained to, and reflect on why they have hope that the situation can continue to improve and some useful steps to take to lessen the mansplaining.
Side note: No men were hurt in the recording of this podcast. If you're hurt after listening, feel free to not tell us about it.

Her story is largely about how she's framed her anxiety into two parts. The first from before she became a Mom and the second from after. Growing up she was labeled as a worry wort or "overly sensitive", but didn't know she'd been anxious until years later. Her story journey's from her early adult years when she was a world traveler and teacher in Guatemala, to what it was like many years later in young motherhood coping with her daughters struggles with anxiety and other needs and how these experiences (and how she related to them) felt different in mind and body. Giselle offers the Warriors a myriad of useful tools and modalities for approaching care, compassion and support for her anxiety. With countless moments of warmth and wisdom, she reminds listeners about the beauty of humanity and how with a bit more effort and surrender... we can all overcome life's obstacles with more ease.

Jesse is a social entrepreneur, meditation leader and former record label executive known for founding the mass meditation movement The Big Quiet. In 2020 Jesse was invited to go on tour with Oprah Winfrey and WW to speak at and lead mass meditations at sold-out arenas throughout the US. He's been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, and the WSJ along with several other leading publications.
As a kid, Jesse only noticed performance anxiety during sports with adults watching him. He shares how in many ways he felt as if he'd peaked in his middle school years because it was a time of his life when he felt free. Free to create and be a leader without fear and self doubt. Then, after being part of a prank gone wrong... everything changed. His anxiety grew, and as he grew new challenges proved more difficult because of it. In his early 20's after achieving wild success in the music business he began to have panic attacks which led him to realize that it was time to make massive shifts in his life. With therapy, meditation, and a supportive community he was able to help himself so that in turn he could help others to create massive shifts in their life. He offers the Warriors many useful tips for learning to form a loving and embracing relationship to anxiety, and see it as a teacher rather than an enemy. As always, the Warriors have a blast getting to know Jesse in lightning round and he shares a fantastic win of the week!

After being diagnosed with GAD, depression, and agoraphobia after several physical tests came back 'normal,' he knew it was time to take life by the reins and seek support for his mental health. He started therapy, went to support groups, and game planned strategies for coping with anxiety. Darius shares so many inspiring, and valuable anecdotes as well as useful tools and skills to try.
