Beacon of Light Podcast

By April Tribe Giauque
Beacon of Light Podcast is for Authors (fiction, non-fiction, children's books, etc.) who write books about hope. Hope is a Beacon of Light to the world. I amplify that hope from authors to all of you.

I published my memoir, "Pinpoints of Light: Escaping the Abyss of Abuse," connecting with women who had similar stories. They wanted out of DV but needed hope. I wrote my second book, "Out of Darkness: Find, Fuel, and Live in Your Light," to heal and the Podcast was born!

Books are transformational, informational, and inspirational, so connect with Beacon of Light Podcast and find hope today!

Can we truly reduce the occurrence of depression, anxiety, or PTSD?  Can we reclaim our purpose after hurts, setbacks, or trauma? Join me tonight as I talk with Cathy Studer at 6:30 pm Mountain to answer these questions.    Cathy continues, “I never thought I would share my very personal story in a book of suffering from long-term child sexual abuse, yet a conversation changed that. A conversation of why some suffer trauma and go on to live successful lives, and others suffer more; one person no better than another.”   Come and join us for why Cathy is a part of our Beacon of Light Favorite Things part 2!

Men, do you live with pain? Check out what my friend John Hulen has to say about it. We men are told at an early age to bottle up our feelings and hide our emotions.  This is how I lived my life for more than 40 years and was a major reason for my divorce.  Want to change? Check out how here!

I usually get a confused and strange look. That’s when I go in for the kill with my second response! "What is possible for our kids to achieve mathematically has not yet been experienced. I walked into his home on my first day. I had just left a career in adult rehab and entered the role of a direct service occupational therapist in a cyber school setting. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.   One of the first questions his mom asked me was, “How can my child read, but not be able to write?”  Having no response, I answered with the typical, “I don’t know, but I will do my best to find out.” That answer took about six or seven years to answer.  I have continued to research dysgraphia and its impact on student's educational process.  What if a student has ADHD? What about autism? How do obsessive-compulsive tendencies relate? Ready to hear the answers?  Join me a Cheri Dotterer tonight, Nov 17th, at 6:30 pm to find out!

Life is busy and stressful and sometimes overwhelming, but it is also filled with beauty and joy, and love. We all know this, and most of us can navigate difficult times by holding onto beauty and hope. But sometimes the hardships start outnumbering the good times, and it’s hard to keep a positive attitude and perspective. The difficulties may be major (a divorce, the loss of a job or loved one, a move), but they don’t have to be. Sometimes it’s the little things that we “should” be able to handle that keep piling on until we’re no longer able to cope. This may manifest in physical maladies (daily headaches or stomach aches, insomnia, panic attacks). Or the overwhelming might be more subtle, more hidden--feelings of loneliness, failure, hopelessness, even despair. Our tendency may be to push these feelings aside and try to muscle through. But if left unchecked this can lead to depression and even thoughts of suicide. Suicide Such was the case with Aimee Fuhrman, author of Smudged Pages: Letting Go of the Lies and Letting God Write Your Story. “From the outside my life was idyllic,” Aimee says. “Nothing in my life spelled suicide, but that is exactly where I found myself several years ago. I had bought into the lies of the Enemy, and they were impacting my identity. I had this standard of perfection I was trying to live up to, but I couldn’t do it, so I was caught in a cycle of false failure and guilt.” Aimee has since found healing, and her heart is to help other women shed the lies they are believing and find their true identity in Christ Jesus. She does this through her book and her ministry Smudged Pages, which also includes a workbook (The Smudged Pages Companion: A Guide to Letting Go of the Lies), an online course that can be taken with or without coaching, as well as speaking engagements and women’s retreats.

#17 Supporter's Toolkit
How many of you know someone in abuse, but you don't know what to do, or how to help?  Please come and find out what you can do. Please, we must save more lives. It is up to all of us. Supporter's Toolkit: Leaving is often the most dangerous time for a victim of abuse because abuse is about power and control.    When a victim leaves, they are taking control of their lives and threatening the abusive partner’s power, which could cause the abusive partner to retaliate in very destructive ways: physical, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and financially. For myself, I had three main supporters that helped me. 1) family, 2) a co-worker, 3) a stranger who was in the right place at the right time--her name was Gloria. (I'll share more about Gloria later). Their support was built on trust and they were there for me when I was ready to make my move. Without them, I would have never made it out and I’m 99% sure I would have been a tragic news story on the evening news.    We know people in abusive situations. As friends, family, co-workers, and strangers,  WHAT can we do to help them? We want to be a light for them to get out of the darkness!  With COVID19, the numbers are rising. More victims are trapped with their abusers.  HOW DO WE HELP THEM OUT OF THIS ABUSE? ANSWER?? BECOME A SUPPORTER! Join us to give two books of my book Pinpoints of Light: Escaping the Abyss of Abuse to survivors in  11,000 Shelters Across the US! Give two books today.  Get your friends and family involved. Beacon of Light Podcast tonight! 6:30 pm Mountain so same 7:30 pm Central.

Join me as I am the guest and John Hulen--an amazing Podcaster, for a night of discovering how you can come out of your darkness and learn how to love anything that comes your way.  Slice! Came the sound of the sharp knife against the plump red skin of the tomato. “Thinner!” harshly whispered shame. I stopped my knife mid slide and looked at the tomatoes. They were nearly transparent. “Are you really going to eat that much?” Scoffed Shame again. I felt pricked. Right to my heart, and I felt more of my light dim. I put one back and think, “there; I’ll just eat three.” I looked up for approval; all was silent. Shame. Shame says, “you are not enough, or you are too much.” It follows you around like a Shadow, The Shame Shadow©. It’s behind or beside you, like a black hole sucking all your energy and robbing your light from shining. The pain, fear, abuse, and shame are bars of a cage— a Comfort Cage you built. You sit content in the darkness. Even though it is unhealthy, you are used to it. Suddenly, something catches your eye. You see the light. The shadow whispers look away, but you are drawn to it. You stand and reach for the door and slide it open. Do you want to come out of the darkness to find healing —healing from great pain and shame?  It won’t be easy leaving your Comfort Cage. What happens when you start living as if your dream has already happened? You WIN! Welcome to the Beacon of Light Podcast. Join me and Gill Bentham Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 7:30 pm central USA time for an inspiring interview. Gill is the author of: As If: Steering Your Life without Strife, Navigating from Fantasy to Faith and Rising from Delusion into Destiny. In Gill's words: I am an author, speaker, and insight coach, I help you to know, love and liberate your inner genius through quirky books, experiential learning modules, and retreats. You will write your unique life script by disentangling creativity, discipline character, and declaring purpose - to make an indelible mark in your world. Gill gently teaches through three themes. First, the ancient character Jacob the striver; second, the metaphor of a meandering canal cruise and thirdly, a curious mixture of fictional reflection and wisdom extracted from her own life's anecdotes and observation. This is a truly imaginative Pilgrims Progress, birthed at the turn of the millennium for every 21st century believer who is weary of the superficiality of spiritual platitudes and sickly-sweet recipes for success.Your mind and heart will be stirred by the author's gentle yet authoritive handling of life's eternal themes and paradoxes.

Beacon of light Introduction
My name is April Tribe Giauque. Welcome to the Beacon of Light Podcast. Hope is a Beacon of Light to the world. I amplify that hope from authors to all of you. I published my memoir, Pinpoints of Light: Escaping the Abyss of Abuse, and I connected with women who had similar stories. They wanted to get out of DV but they needed HOPE to do that. My book brings that to them. I wrote my second book, Out of Darkness: Find, Fuel, and Live in Your Light, to then take that hope to become healing and the Podcast was born! I interview all authors: fiction, nonfiction, self-help, novels, sci-fi, children's authors, and memoirs who have written books about hope because we all need hope in our lives. Whether it was found in fiction as a place to escape, or with nonfiction and how to improve and find healing the result is the same. We are a Beacon of Light with hope that amplifies to the world. Books are transformational, informational, and inspirational, so connect with Beacon of Light Podcast and find hope today!
