Joining us in this episode is Jules Taylor, Actor, Teacher, and Creator from Arts Live Theater, Shaky Bugs, Phunbags, and more.  

Jules is currently Education Director at Arts Live Theatre where she has directed and choreographed over 30 shows, as well as taught countless classes and workshops in acting, comedy improv, musical theatre and more. As a rostered Arkansas Arts Council Teaching Artist, Jules has taught and directed youth theatre in NWA for 15 years, including as an actor in Digging Up Arkansas, produced by Trike Theatre and Walton Arts Center, teaching Arkansas history through theatre and music to grade schools. Jules has performed over 400 shows in every county in Arkansas! She is Ms. Jules of SHAKY BUGS, performing with her guitar and tutu to the under 5 crowd in a song&dance extravaganza! She is a team member of Phunbags Comedy Improv and a company member of Ceramic Cow Productions, and has been on the board of the Fayetteville Film Fest for 10 years. Represented by Actor’s Casting Agency, film and TV credits include: Gordon Family Tree, Valley Inn, Southern Pride, Parker’s Anchor and True Detective.

Bio:
Zivah Criswell has been a lifelong seeker on a journey back home to herself. She has made the study of self love her life purpose, learning to love herself to wholeness and empowering women to love themselves while being guided on their own path to healing. Zivah began with a psychology degree, and then spent the next two decades pursuing a variety of studies including counseling certifications, hypnotherapy, dance based movement practices, organic foods & natural health supplements, and most recently, a Cannabis Coach certification. Zivah is on a mission to help women find the answers to their most pressing questions about health, happiness and love through movement, nutritional supplements, cannabis education and community.

Tanatra Carr was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas 11/30/1978. She’s lived in Fayetteville all of her life. She has a daughter named Promisee that is 8 years old, and a golden retriever named Brawnie. Promisee is her reason and incentive for everything that she is trying to accomplish in life. It’s for her. Tanatra is leading by example and giving her daughter the structure that she needs to become a responsible, independent young lady.

Tanatra is currently practicing as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a clinic and also works in Mental Health Inpatient in a hospital setting. She’s a student at the University of Arkansas in the LPN-BSN program for nursing. Tanatra loves to sing, write poetry, listen to music, read, and travel. She’s interested in architecture and loves entertaining family and friends.

Tanatra has had a radio show in the past called Words for the Soul that was centered around poetry with an open forum. Different topics were also discussed and it was great for public speaking and also allowed her to decompress. Her goals are to get a Master’s Degree to teach nursing education and to be a radio personality at night, because she loves the spontaneity of it and it calms her and gives her inner peace.

Kymberly Stephens MS, LCP, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Expert Trauma Professional, Certified Complex Trauma Professional, and Certified Brainspotting Practitioner. She works with stalking victims; adult children of alcoholics; people with substance use disorders; victims of abuse and neglect; clients who have prominent birthmarks, disfigurements or rare disorders; and other trauma-related issues.

In this episode Joy Caffrey, Christi Daniels visit with Sunshine Broder.  Wendy Love Edge was on hiatus for this episode.

Sunshine is an on-air personality, emcee, and storyteller with more than five years of experience in the industry. You may know her from That’s What She Said, NWA Fashion Week, recognize her voice from Sunshine after Dark, or many other events she can be found hosting around Northwest Arkansas.

Sunshine’s “day-job” is a hairstylist and salon owner. She has owned Shine Salon on the south side of Fayetteville for 15 years.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a BA in Drama, Sunshine moved to Chicago to train at the world-famous Second City Improv Theatre. There, she graduated from the elite Conservatory program before moving back to Arkansas to call it “home.”

Sunshine can be found baking award-winning pies, clogging, or most importantly, spending time with her Mini-Aussie named Penny. And yes, her real name is Sunshine.

Talking points:

How do you define success?

Happiness, or the unhurried pursuit… finding joy in the little things and continuing to learn and be a more fulfilled human

How are you living life on your own terms?

I have owned my own business for 15 years. I have slowly learned not to settle and therefore have lived alone, mostly worked alone, and kept the most important things sacred- the people I love

What challenges have you overcome?

So many and yet nothing more than the average human. My challenges -

Parents divorce when I was 11.

Knowing my boundaries as far as work and relationships

Being an only child and both parents having been through many ailments- cancer etc and care giving for both of them.

My father's death in august of 2018

What has caught you by surprise on your journey?

I am actually in control of how I face each day.

I am stronger than I ever thought.

The gift of being there when my father died.

What can you offer to other women wanting to feel more comfortable in their own skin?

More than 90% of what anyone says or does to you has nothing to do with you. If you can understand that everyone walks on with their own baggage.

What has worked for you when you are overwhelmed or lose your center?

In this episode Joy Caffrey, Christi Daniels, and Wendy Love Edge visit with Sonia Gutiérrez, founder of New Design School, Easel, and CEO of 501c3 Design and NDS Press. In 2018 she became Fayetteville Arkansas’ first Latina City Council Member.

Her bio:
Sonia Gutiérrez completed a Bachelor of Science in microbiology in 1996, and a Bachelor of Art in graphic design in 1998, from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. While an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain and attended the Universidad de Salamanca to study art history and graphic design with a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. In 2002, she completed a Master of Fine Art in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design in New York, New York. In 2003, she returned to Fayetteville and founded New Design School in 2006 and Atelier NDS in 2007. In May 2009, she was invited by Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan to lead the Creative Economy Action Group. Today, she practices graphic design and web design in her roles as founder and CEO of 501c3 Design and NDS Press. She teaches graphic design at Northwest Arkansas Community College. She just recently founded the company Easel, which like an easel, provides a three-legged foundation of sales, operations and finance to bolster a creative’s products or services. Sonia can also be found spinning tracks as DJ SQS. Sonia Gutiérrez became the first Latina elected to the Fayetteville City Council in 2018 and currently serves as a Council Member representative for Ward 1.

BIO - Patti Steel is an eccentric multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter. She plays clarinet, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, spoons, washboard, tambourine, kazoo, slide whistle, train whistle, nose flute, flute, bassoon among many others. She is always willing to learn more too. Not only does she play many instruments, Patti also sings harmonies and lead vocals in many projects. Don't be surprised if she ends up in your jam sessions, it is her biggest passion just playing music for the soul. Originally, she is from SW Missouri but now resides in NW Arkansas in the heart of the Ozarks.

Recently, Patti Steel has started writing and co-writing music to start performing solo or in smaller more intimate projects. She brings to the table a huge spectrum of genres from her 20+ years playing music in so many projects/bands. It spans from folk, bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock and country. Her hunger for music is insatiable and shows when she performs. She grew up around music and has played and supported music since she was very young.

Currently performing regularly with: The Trashcan Bandits, Steel Skye, Skye Pollard, Chucky Waggs and the Company of Raggs, Johai Kafa, Honey Shuffle, The Honey's, Randall Shreve and the DeVilles and many more....

Patti also has a BA in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and Print Media as well as a MA in Communication with an emphasis in Documentary Photojournalism. She’s also an established award-winning freelance photographer.
