Leonard's Son Adam Nimoy Releases The Most Human Reconciling With My Father Leonard Nimoy

While the tabloids and fan publications portrayed the Nimoys as a "close family," to his son Adam, Leonard Nimoy was a total stranger. The actor was as inscrutable as the iconic half-Vulcan science officer he portrayed on Star Trek, even to those close to him. Now, his son's poignant memoir explores their complicated relationship and how it informed his views on marriage, parenting, and later, sobriety. Despite their differences, both men ventured down parallel paths: marriages leading to divorce, battling addiction, and finding recovery. Most notably, both men struggled to take the ninth step in their AA journey: to make amends with each other. Discover how the son of Spock learned to navigate this tumultuous relationship- from Shabbat dinners to basement AA meetings-and how he was finally able to reconcile with his father-and with himself.

He's A History Novilist Mark Sullivan Releases All The Glimmering Stars

He's A History Novilist Mark Sullivan Releases All The Glimmering Stars

As many as 300,000 child soldiers are currently being forced to fight around the world. The UN deems it a global security issue because radicalized, militant, dehumanized children grow up to be radicalized, militant, dehumanized adults. One of the most egregious episodes in modern history was Joseph Kony’s 30-year reign of terror in Uganda, southern Sudan, and Congo as his Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) kidnapped as many as 37,000 boys and girls, turning the males into fearsome, soulless soldiers and the girls into slaves, sexual and otherwise. Two of those young people—Anthony Opoka and Florence Okori—escaped and survived to later bear witness at the LRA war crimes trial in the Hague. Their harrowing and triumphant story is the basis for ALL THE GLIMMERING STARS and was brought to Sullivan by a former squadron commander of SEAL Team 6 and the former CIA chief in Uganda.

“In an earlier life I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa, and I responded to the tale and the cause immediately. I went to Uganda and spent weeks with Anthony and Florence. I also came away believing that their story brought to life in a novel could have a dramatic impact on the way kids in war zones are treated. To that end, I wrote the novel with the intention that it would not only grip readers with a remarkable story well-told, but also contribute to End Child Soldiering, a non-profit that works to prevent kids being forced into combat and to rehabilitate youngsters who have already suffered that tragedy.”

Despite its haunting depiction of the shocking and desperate situation Anthony, Florence and many others endured, ALL THE GLIMMERING STARS is a remarkably life-affirming tale, filled with humanity and love.

Author Ashley Woodfolk And Actress Lexi Underwood Collaborate With Louder Than Words

LOUDER THAN WORDS is an amazing collaboration that brings together two inspirational Black artists, New York Times bestselling author Ashley Woodfolk and actress Lexi Underwood, for a story about the transformative power of art as protest and its capacity to change the world.

When Jordyn Jones transfers to Edgewood High, it’s her opportunity to forget everything that happened at her old school. To forget what she and her friends did. To forget who she used to be. That was a different person—this is a fresh start. Now she’s someone new, someone better. Except it’s the very first day of school, and somehow everyone already seems to know who she is. But Jordyn soon finds a group of friends, and she even starts talking to Izaiah, a soccer star who shares her love of art. Life is good. That’s until an anonymous podcast called Tomcat Tea begins revealing humiliating secrets about Edgewood students, ruining their reputations and in some cases their futures. Jordyn and her friends know they have to do something—and this is Jordyn’s chance to prove to herself that she’s changed. Jordyn’s plan to take down the podcast throws her into the spotlight, and as the momentum builds, so do the risks— because Jordyn has a secret of her own, one that could ruin everything . . . and that a mysterious harasser online is threatening to expose.

In an author letter, Ashley and Lexi say that LOUDER THAN WORDS “tackles the complexities of being human by examining the choices and mistakes we all make, the forgiveness we all need, and the redemption we all deserve.” They go on to share, “We hope this novel will show readers that no matter who they are or what they’ve done, there is always time to change and space to heal.”

Bee Whisperer Lance Davis From Earth XTV's The Killer Bee Catcher

Lance Davis and his team extract and relocate not only infestations of honeybees, but also swarms of tens of thousands of aggressive and dangerous Africanized “Killer Bees.” While Killer Bees are extremely dangerous in swarms, Africanized “Killer Bees” are actually a savior to our world. Bee populations are in peril on the planet. Killer Bees are more impervious to climate change and predators than regular honeybees, and they replicate as much as 17 times per year, versus regular honey bees which replicate 2-3 times per year.
So, the Killer Bees pollinate our food supply at an enormously more powerful rate, which in turn feeds animals, birds, insects and people.

Celebrating Teachers With Good Morning America's Deborah Roberts Lessons Learned And Cherished

Award-winning ABC News journalist, Deborah Roberts, curates a collection of essays and musings from celebrity friends and colleagues alike that share how teachers changed them, imparted life lessons, and helped them get to where they are today. Contributors include Oprah Winfrey, Jenna Bush-Hager, Robin Roberts, Brooke Shields, Octavia Spencer, Rachel Ray, Misty Copeland and more.

Everyone can name a teacher who had an impact on their life. Educators not only open our minds to new ideas, but they also help us recognize our potential and our passions. However, rarely do they get credit for the life-changing work they do, and often teachers have no idea how their work can influence a student all the way into adulthood.

The Winner Of NBC's The Voice Season 25 Asher Havon

The Winner Of NBC's The Voice Season 25 Asher Havon

Asher HaVon, a 31-year-old soulful gospel and R&B artist from Selma, Ala., was named champion of "The Voice" Season 25.

HaVon faced off against a chorus of formidable competitors. Other finalists this season included teammate Josh Sanders from Team Reba, Bryan Olesen and Nathan Chester from Team Legend, and Karen Waldrup from Team Dan + Shay.

In his Blind Audition, HaVon showed off his gospel choir roots with a powerful rendition of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain," which had Reba, Chance and Dan + Shay campaigning for him. He ultimately chose to join Team Reba, where he and teammate Alyssa Crosby performed a rousing duet of Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" during the Battle Round. In the Knockout round, he had all the coaches on their feet during a showstopping performance of Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart." During both rounds, Reba chose HaVon to move on while his teammates were quickly stolen by other coaches.

During the Playoffs, HaVon gave the audience chills with an emotional rendition of David Guetta and Sia's "Titanium," securing a spot in the Top 12. In the first live show, he performed "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men, wowing with his technical ability. During the semifinals, HaVon joined Madison Curbelo and Serenity Arce for a haunting trio performance of "Fix You" by Coldplay and then stepped outside his comfort zone with his version of Beyoncé's massive hit "Irreplaceable." On Monday night's telecast, HaVon continued to impress the coaches and viewers alike with an up-tempo live performance of "Last Dance" by Donna Summer as well as a down-tempo performance of "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston.

Before being crowned the winner at the conclusion of tonight's finale, HaVon was joined on stage by coach Reba McEntire for a soulful duet of "On My Own," by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald.

Following her first win, coach Reba McEntire will return to "The Voice" Season 26 as the reigning champ, alongside new coaches Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé and returning coach Gwen Stefani.

HaVon's presence on the show's social media platforms this season garnered immense popularity. His performances accumulated 11.6 million views across "The Voice" pages on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.

Growing up in Selma, HaVon was surrounded by gospel singers. Asher's mom, whom he likes to call his singing sergeant, really pushed him to sing at a young age. His first major performance came in 2015 when President Obama came to Selma for a speech commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery in honor of African-American civil rights. Asher auditioned for a spot in the choir that was set to perform John Legend and Common's song "Glory." The choir director was so blown away that he chose Asher to lead the choir that day, performing in front of 200,000 people.

"The Voice" is the most-watched alternative series for the 2023-24 season (L7).

"The Voice" is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson, Adam H. Sher and Barry Poznick.

The Summer Box Office Has to Be Graded on a Curve Yet Again

With no MCU movie to start off the season, this year's strike-addled blockbuster lineup will likely fall short of 2023

Excluding the COVID impact on 2020 and 2021, this year marks the first time since 2006 that the summer moviegoing season won't begin with a Marvel release during the first weekend of May.

The lack of a superheroic kickoff to blockbuster season is a glaring symptom of a larger reality: The disruption caused by the 2023 Hollywood strikes is going to limit how high the summer box office can climb.

Alongside Disney, which was forced to vacate its favorite MCU release slot, the strikes also pushed films like "Mission: Impossible 8" to 2025, with not much to take their place. It will take several major surprises - like 2023's "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" - to match last year's $4 billion domestic total.

Insiders at analytics firm Gower Street, while leaving open the potential for upside, project a box office total of $3.3 billion in North America this summer, putting it in the neighborhood of the $3.39 billion total recorded in 2022.

From the get-go, because of the strikes any comparisons between this summer's box office and those of past years will immediately be marked with a huge asterisk.

"This summer is a one-off, and I think everyone in the industry knows that," Exhibitor Relations analyst Jeff Bock told The Wrap. "What I want to know is, how do these sequels play compared to last summer?"

Bock is holding out some optimism that despite a slow start, there may be some unexpected over-performance later in the summer.

Universal/87North's original action romcom "The Fall Guy" may become a modest box office success if moviegoers have enough Kenergy in them to see Ryan Gosling in another comedic role. But it likely won't bring theaters the $118 million opening or $358.9 million domestic run that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" delivered in summer 2023.

"We've seen that Imax and other premium (large) formats help make these franchise films feel like big events, and the fact that more PLF-supported films are coming out across the summer may help some of those films do better than some of the sequels we saw last year," he said.

That premium support will come in July, when the season's biggest titles arrive. Universal/Illumination's "Despicable Me 4" could be the sole $1 billion-plus hit of the summer if it can top the $370 million domestic/$940 million global run of "Minions: The Rise of Gru" in 2022.

Marvel Studios' "Deadpool & Wolverine," due out on July 26, also has an outside chance of joining "Joker" as the second R-rated film to hit $1 billion. Though simply topping the $786 million global total of "Deadpool 2" would be a win for Disney, which inherited Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's heroes in 2019 from the 20th Century Fox merger.

But the quantity of high-performing films is likely to be fewer. In 2023, 13 films grossed over $100 million at the domestic box office, including some surprises like Angel Studios' cultural phenomenon "Sound of Freedom." Among those movies, five grossed more than $250 million domestically: "Barbie," "Oppenheimer," "Guardians Vol. 3," "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and "The Little Mermaid."

Actor Comedian Now Author Paul Scheer Releases Joyful Recollections Of Trauma

Actor Comedian Now Author Paul Scheer Releases Joyful Recollections Of Trauma

From award-winning actor and comedian Paul Scheer, a candid and hilarious memoir-in-essays on coming to terms with childhood trauma and finding the joy in embracing your authentic self.

Paul Scheer has entertained countless fans and podcast listeners with stories about the odd, wild, and absurd details of his life. Yet these tales have pointed to deeper, more difficult truths that the actor and comedian has kept to himself. Now, he is finally ready to share those truths for the first time-but, of course, with a healthy dose of humor.

Blending the confident, affable voice that has won him a dedicated following with a refreshing level of candor, Joyful Recollections of Trauma chronicles Paul's often shocking, admittedly tumultuous childhood and how the experiences of his youth have reverberated throughout his life. In his comedy, Paul has always been unafraid to "go there," to play naïve, cringeworthy characters, imbuing them with disarming charm and humanity. That daring openness is on display in the pages of this memoir, but in true Paul fashion, it is also surprising, eye-opening, and side-splitting.

In this madcap journey through the inner working of his mind and creative process, Paul Scheer demonstrates once again that the truth is often stranger-and funnier-than fiction. Joyful Recollections of Trauma offers a unique perspective on universal themes: growing up, working through a challenging childhood, staying true to yourself, and finding success, fulfillment, and happiness in often strange and difficult circumstances. Throughout, Paul shares both the hard-fought lessons and the laughter that can be found in the darkest parts of life,  and reminds us that what matters is not what you've been through but who you are becoming. If you loved recent memoirs by Molly Shannon, Maria Bamford, RuPaul, and Jennette McCurdy-or any book that moves you to both laughter and tears-Joyful Recollections of Trauma is the perfect read for you.

AGT Superstar Jackie Evancho Releases A New Wave Of Sound Solla And Behind My Eyes

AGT Superstar Jackie Evancho Releases A New Wave Of Sound Solla And Behind My Eyes

Evancho wrote all 6 songs and co-produced the EP with Smash Mouth’s founding member and songwriter Greg Camp. The first single off SollaBehind My Eyes, was released in September and went to radio in February and currently remains at #22 on the Billboard AC Chart.

Says Jackie about the song, “Behind My Eyes,” "This is a song I wrote to almost exemplify the feeling of losing it. It’s a song that doesn’t exactly make sense lyrically. There are feelings of paranoia, euphoria, mania, etc. It’s a big jumble of many things at once, and often it is hard to understand and empathize with the one trying to explain this.” Jackie goes on, “I’m excited, as well as nervous about the release of this song. I know in the end I’m telling my truth and I can’t wait to share who I am with the world and my fans.”

Singer, concert artist, actress, and model, Jackie Evancho is a platinum-selling recording artist who first became a worldwide sensation at the age of 10 years old, with her stunning debut performance singing “O Mio Babbino Caro” on season 5 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent (AGT). A career that began with a little girl’s fascination with the film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera has led Billboard to twice include Jackie on its list of “music movers-and-shakers under the age of 21,” as well as Forbes Magazine naming Jackie to their list of “30 under 30,” in part due to the history she has made along the way  – the youngest solo platinum artist, earning the record away from Michael Jackson – the youngest top 5 debut artist ever in the U.K – the highest-ranking debut artist of 2010 – and a Guinness World Record as the youngest person to ever have a US Top 3 album.

Television Writer And Producer Richard Gurman Releases Married With Children Versus The World

Television Writer And Producer Richard Gurman Releases Married With Children Versus The World

Married. With Children burst onto the airwaves with a full-frontal attack on the myth of domestic tranquility depicted in family comedies since the dawn of TV. The outlier series, created by two rebellious writers given carte blanche from a fledgling FOX network, became one of the longest running live-action sitcoms in television history and forever changed the way married life was portrayed on the networks it so scathingly satirized. But it was far from smooth sailing as the creators, Michael Moye and Ron Leavitt, bucked up against Barry Diller-then CEO of FOX-on everything from casting to content and butted heads with network standards as they sought to shatter traditional broadcast norms.

Married. With Children writer-producer Richard Gurman takes us behind the scenes of this boundary-breaking show to reveal how its inner workings were at times disruptive and contentious. At other times, as hysterical and raunchy-as the Bundy family themselves. Featuring exclusive interviews with the cast, including Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, David Faustino, Amanda Bearse, David Garrison and Ted McGinley, media moguls, network executives, writers, directors, critics, and even the woman who was so offended by one episode she launched a sponsor boycott that almost got the series canceled, Married. With Children VS. the World celebrates the rebellious, satirical vision of the show and the battle to keep it alive that paved the way for the tremendous diversity in family comedy style we see today.

Famed Photographer David Alexander Releases Pictures Of Time The Ordinary World Is Extraordinary

Famed Photographer David Alexander Releases Pictures Of Time The Ordinary World Is Extraordinary

For decades, David Alexander enjoyed a successful career as a commercial photographer, known for his work on the album covers of artists such as the Eagles, Aretha Franklin, Linda Ronstadt, James Brown, Ringo Starr, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, to name just a few, and movie posters for box office smashes like The Blues Brothers and 9 to 5. In the process of making art, he began to see connections that expanded his thinking about the planet we humans share with the environment.

In his debut book, PICTURES OF TIME: Seeing Time in the Ordinary World (Silver Street Media; April 22, 2024; ISBN: 9781542212786; $70.00/Hardcover; 12 x 12; 124 pages), David Alexander uses the language of photography to share his revelations into how all living things are connected, and how these connections are often hidden in plain sight all around us. The common bond is a constant, yet continually changing, fact of life: time. As Alexander reflects: "I find the ordinary world to be extraordinary, and I hope that comes through in the photographs. I want the book to reveal signs of evolution for the reader-glimpsing the past by looking closely at the present, seeing connections among living and natural things, and, ultimately, feeling our place during evolution, i.e., time. Seeing and taking pictures of this stuff, to me, is fun and often funny."

Organized by descriptive chapter headings-Shape, Pairing, Reflection, Rhythm, Together, and Aging-Pictures of Time presents a collection of full-color photographs of people, trees, flowers, and birds captured in similar configurations or forms.

Ben Dusing From Free Store At The Front Kherson Ukraine Episode Six Fast Food USA

The geography speaks for itself. The bad guys are just kilometers away, across the river. We are the only international (or locals) with a brick and mortar office downtown, for them to go for help. No assistance from govt unless elderly, and the assistance they get is shit.
Office safe from “normal” shelling (tank fire, most mortars). Glide bombs and attack drones are new since Ukrainians landed on other side and have beachhead. Quietly, that is a total massacre over there — poorly kept secret here. can’t do much about the big stuff … if we get hit with a glide bomb we’re fucked. I like our chances.
Monday Wednesday and Friday the FREE STORE AT THE FRONT is open at our office. Basic foods medicines hygiene and winter clothes. Mondays we run bread into insanely dangerous places by the Antonivky bridge, do other stuff like that. Off the radar. For city admin. We are an important “off the books asset” for them.

This Is Exactly What You Want While Rising Out Of Hell Kerry King Releases Idol Hands And Residue

Slayer's final gig was on November 30, 2019, in the band's Los Angeles hometown. But the night marked a new beginning for iconic Slayer songwriter/guitarist Kerry King. The band co-founder wasn't nearly finished; he had much more brutal and provocative music brewing, stages to dominate, heads to roll. King's sound and vision manifest in the 13 songs on From Hell I Rise, the first solo outing in King's four decades of slaying the metal universe. His particular brand of blunt power, incisive lyrical themes, and aural assault are finally unleashed on May 17, 2024. The arrival of one of the most anticipated albums of 2024- and one of the most eagerly awaited metal records ever-finds King beyond stoked. "It's the best feeling I've ever had. There will be some faces punched in," he says. The guitarist quickly addresses the most-asked question: "I think people are going to compare it to Slayer. I'm not afraid of that because I think it stands up to anything we've done in our history, musically, performance-wise."

That said, "There will be people complaining, Why does it sound like Slayer?' And 'why doesn't it sound more like Slayer? That's just what people do." Joining the King crusade is a lineup that began with Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph. "Paul's kind of like my [Vinny] Appice to Ronnie James Dio," King says. "I knew Paul wanted to be part of this since 2018. My initial plan was to bring [Gary] Holt, but then I thought I probably shouldn't have any more Slayer pieces, so that went Phil Demmel's way." The band is completed by bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), and in the much-talked-about vocalist spot, Mark Osegueda (Death Angel), a friend of King's since the early '80s Cali thrash days. The lineup kills. From the instrumental entrée "Diablo" into the relentless, repentless "Where I Reign," to the last cut, the statement-making, full-circle title track "From Hell I Rise," King and co. are in full control.

Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist Dale Maharidge Releases The Book American Doom Loop

Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist Dale Maharidge Releases The Book American Doom Loop

Americans lived in a different reality in 1980: Vermont was the only state that let residents carry a concealed firearm without a permit. Twenty-four states now allow this-and numerous other gun laws have fallen by the wayside. When police were accused of wrongdoing, the default answer from society's arbiters-courts, politicians, newspaper editors-was: "The police wouldn't lie." Editors steered clear of stories about rape and sexual violence. The word "homeless" wasn't in common use. The fabric of the middle class had not yet begun fraying.

America of the 2020s is living with cultural shapeshifting rooted in the 1980s.

History, of course, is not a snapshot-it's a film. To understand the United States today, we have to know the 1980s. American Doom Loop chronicles the first part of that moving picture, then brings the story forward. As a newspaper journalist, Dale Maharidge had a front-row seat to this decade, immersed in disparate worlds. He was in the Philippines during the last days of Dictator Ferdinand Marcos, witnessing the US lose a critical piece of its empire dating to the Spanish-American War; he traveled to Central America where the East-West conflict was playing out by proxy; he smuggled a Salvadoran family marked by death squads, driving them through trackless desert to the US border; he embedded with a group that was a precursor to the Oath Keepers; and he investigated police, who kept trying to get him fired. Through it all, Maharidge gained an invaluable view of a complicated decade that offers insight into our society today.
