AUDIO PLAY: Black Dog

AUDIO PLAY: Black Dog

In October 2018, Pizza Chapel Theatre Company staged a production of Chris Fontanes' Black Dog, which explored the #MeToo movement in a macabre, site-specific theatre experience. In Black Dog, we meet Rainy and Ophelia, two women who used vigilantism, cannibalism, and a little bit of witchcraft to punish wicked men that commit crimes against women. In this audio play, the women torture, toy with, and murder a man that harmed a woman very near the both of them.

After you listen, join @pizzachapeltheatreco for a live, drive-in performance of Black Dog: The Burial as they meet up with these characters again in an original story inspired by Fontanes' work. In a brutal night of vitriol, violence, and magic, we will be witness to the aftermath of Rainey and Ophelia's brutal deeds and uncover the motive of their 14th kill.

DIY Theatre with Pizza Chapel Theatre Co.

DIY Theatre with Pizza Chapel Theatre Co.

The co-founders of Pizza Chapel Theatre Company say that including LGBTQ folk and people of color in their work was written in their by-laws.
As a company owned and operated by a queer woman, a trans man, and a Latina; Lindsey, August, and Sam started Pizza Chapel in response to a lack of socio-political contributions in the local market. Going forward, they pledged to celebrate people of color, women, and everyone on the LGBTQ+ spectrum by hiring those demographics to write plays, design, and perform.
We discuss what steps they take to make theatre more accessible, what impact representation has on an audience, and how "Do It Yourself" never meant "Do It Alone."
