Robert Bee, AKA Bonzai was a 13 year old boy who went missing in November of 2016 in the small town of Pekin, Illinois.  His body was found 8 months later in Rural Tazewell County.  

We are a group of filmmakers and investigators looking into this case.   We are creating a podcast and series that delves into the investigation and what happened to Robert.

Episode 24 "The Rest of the Story" The Kendrick Johnson Investigation - Ashes to Ash True Crime.  

Join Ash, Debbie & Kate as they investigate the death of 17 year old Kendrick Johnson in 2013 in Lowndes County, Georgia.    

Kendrick Johnson, known as KJ by many friends and family was found deceased at Lowndes County High School and was discovered inverted in a wrestling mat inside of the Old Gym.    Ash and her team do a deep dive into the case to find out what happened to Kendrick Johnson? and who is responsible for his death?  

In this episode Ash and her team finish out the mat experiments and they also get some interesting news about a new lawsuit in this case.    Ash combs through the results of the mat test and the new lawsuit.  Ash even starts to show clips from the surveillance tapes, which she will be doing a full work up on in an upcoming episode.

Ep. 22 “The Mat (Part 1)” Kendrick Johnson Mat Experiment – Ashes to Ash True Crime Episode 22 “The Mat (Part 1)” 

This episodes kicks off the Kendrick Johnson's mat experiments.  Ash has gotten her hands on a replica gym mat, the exact same kind, shape, size mat the KJ was discovered inside of, deceased, on January 11th, 2013.  Two teenagers with similar shoulder widths to Kendrick Johnson join Ash in this experiment to see if it is possible for a person to slide down the mat and not be able to get out?  

Ash interviews both boys extensively to find out if they have any biases or even know about the Kendrick Johnson case?  Next Ash takes their shoulder measurements to see how they compare to Kendrick Johnson's shoulder width.  Both boys have slightly larger shoulder widths, but this works in favor of the experiment and not against it.  If KJ had 16 inch shoulders then the subject in the experiment needs to have that size of bigger to insure the results are not skewed from a smaller framed individual. 

Ash then instructs both boys to crawl through the mat while it rests on its side.  Find out in this episode if both boys were able to get through the whole in the mat. 

Next Ash has both boys go into the mat and the mat is inverted, the results are surprising.

Ep. 20 “Misleading” Ashes to Ash True Crime “The Kendrick Johnson Investigation”  

Ash really starts to delve into what may have happened to Kendrick Johnson in this investigative true crime series.  Ash attempts to answer the question of what transpired at Lowndes County High School on January 10th, 2013 in Valdosta Georgia. 

 Ash gets in touch with Ryan Anthony Domek Hernandez or as he calls himself on Facebook Mali.  Domek Hernandez came out with a written statement in August of 2017 that implicated Brian Bell, Branden Bell, Ryan Hall, Rick Bell, and dozens of other individuals in the death of Kendrick Johnson.  Does Domek Hernandez still stand by his statement??  

Ash also continues to go through the information she received from the Freedom of Information Act that she filled out.  She had received a CD ROM, thumb drive, and a hard drive from Lowndes County.  She starts to figure out how to best process the information and showcase it to the public.    

The replica of the gym mat the KJ was discovered in, also arrives, after months of attempting to get an exact replica.  She starts experimenting with the mat to find out if it is possible that Kendrick Johnson descended into the mat after his shoe has been discovered at the bottom.

Ep. 18 “Devil Lady” Ashes to Ash True Crime “The Kendrick Johnson Investigation”  

Ash explains part of the letter she received from Jackie Johnson after Ash made a request to go over the findings and meet with the family.  Jackie sends back an aggressive note and puts Ash on notice.  Ash is confused by this letter, but not surprised.  

Ash continues to address Jackie's Facebook post suggesting she was somehow scammed by Dana Banks.  She digs into what actually happened the day of the rally.  Dana shares her fundraiser information with her and the personal texts between her and Jackie.    Ash finds articles and online “personalities” that Jackie has given information and quotes to about what occurred between Dana and Jackie in regards to the rally.    Ash then discovers that these publications never ask Dana for her side of the story and instead all seem to have gone off the word of Jackie Johnson.    As Ash combs through the texts, she soon discovers the truth about who is scamming who and who is being racist.  

As she continues to uncover more and more evidence her heart sinks into her stomach when it becomes obvious who the people at fault are here.

Ep. 16 “Abolitionist” Ashes to Ash True Crime, “The Kendrick Johnson Investigation”   

In this episode of The Kendrick Johnson Investigation, Ash and her crew uncover a new individual who has some interesting information to give.  Hannah a friend of both Kendrick Johnson and Taylor in high school talks about her friendship, how she knew both of them, and their connection to one another, if any.  

We also revisit an interview we did with Kenyetta, KJ's sister and we ask her about if she believes KJ and Taylor were having an affair.    

Ash also delves further into if the brother's, Branden and Brian Bell were involved in the death of Kendrick Johnson.  She revisits the film “Finding Kendrick Johnson” by Jason Pollock and talks more about the evidence seen within the film.

Ep. 15 “Pride & Prejudice” Ashes To Ash True Crime “The Investigation of Kendrick Johnson”  

Join Ash as she continues to comb through the interviews with Sheriff Paulk and Lydia (KJ's Aunt).  The differing opinions can be very confusing, so the team really needs to now dig into, what everyone is saying and does it hold water?    

Ash receives an onslaught of negative messages after the release of Episode 14 “Bell.”  Ash explains to the audience why she does the investigations the way she does.  Ash refuses to stop looking at the evidence and agrees with the haters that she does have an agenda here, but that agenda is to the truth, not a preconceived idea of what happened in the case before combing through the evidence.    

Ash catches COVID and has to miss the KJ Rally that was held in Washington DC on April 8th 2022.  Because she can not be at the rally, Ash follows the social media to see what the motive behind having the rally is, she finds a website at the bottom of the KJ Rally flyer www.RealJusticeNow.org.  Ash checks out the website and finds a woman by the name of Dana Banks who happens to be hosting the rally.  Ash starts to read and look at some of her content and gets an uneasy feeling about the rally.    

Ash and Sheriff Paulk continue to discuss their investigation, Ash learns who the investigators were, what effort Paulk and his team put into reinvestigating, and what Paulk's opinion is on the Bell's and their involvement in the death of KJ.

Join the Ashes to Ash team as they continue to dig into the Kendrick Johnson investigation even further.  Ash begins to look into the bus "fight" by talking to Sheriff Paulk, Kendrick's sister Lydia, and other anonymous witnesses.  Ash's feelings on the bus fight begin to shift as she talks to those who were actually there that day.  

She learns more about the overall investigation and why the department of justice took over the case at one point.    

Sheriff Paulk talks about how his team did a proper job at investigating Kendrick's death and the few mistakes that were made, were nothing that would impact the conclusions reached in the case.

Sheriff Paulk put out his packet of findings this week as he re-closed the Kendrick Johnson Case.    Paulk had agreed to re-open the case a year ago and once again comb over the Kendrick Johnson case file.   After what Paulk says was an exhaustive examination, he again ruled KJ's death an accident.

Ep. 11 "Reward" Ashes to Ash True Crime "The Investigation of Kendrick Johnson"  

Join Ash and the team as they head back to Valdosta for the 9th annual weekend to commemorate KJ's passing.    Ash is finally able to ask Kenneth and Jacqulyn Johnson (KJ's parents) some long awaited question about their son's case.    

Sheriff Ashley Paulk closes the Kendrick Johnson case and labels it again as an accident.  Then after being called a "liar" by the Johnson's Ashley ups the ante by offering a $500,000 reward of his own money, leading to the arrest of any person in connection with the death of Kendrick Johnson.  This startling turn of events pushes Ash to get Paulk on the phone to talk about why he offered the reward and what he hopes will come of this bold action.    

Ash also reaches out to Mike Adams in hopes of being granted an interview now that the case is closed again.  Mike Adams was the Deputy Sheriff at the time of KJ's death.  Adams was also the cop who was in charge of handling Brian Bell and Kendrick Johnson after their fight on the back of the bus.    

Lastly Ash starts checking off her to-do list of action items when it comes to this case.

Ashes to Ash: “What Happened to Carolyn Blankenfeld?” - True Crime Series - Ep 16 - "Sold"  

In this episode, we meet Carol and Les, the couple who purchased Chris's home following Carolyn's death. Being an unbiased party, the couple speaks about how Chris was noticeably grief stricken and zombie like towards the sale of everything and how he didn't want any "reminders."   

Ash speaks with the neighbors and their reactions towards Chris getting rid of everything involving Carolyn, and how fast he sold the house in Lillian, furnishings and all.   

Ash and the neighbors then start to discuss the three different women Chris was (is) involved with, the two homes he had purchased with two of those women in Wisconsin and Mobile and the uneasiness they felt when they were confronted with their fears of what Chris could've done to Carolyn.

The team continues to speak to Ray Evans, a former employee of Austal and former friend of Chris and Carolyn on his uneasy experiences with Chris.  

Bree contacts members of the Atlantic Strike Force Team, who were stationed at Fort Dix at the same time as Chris. She further finds out that Chris was never a "Rescue Swimmer', but was a member of the Atlantic Strike Force Team as a "Shop-keeper."

Ashes to Ash True Crime - “What Happened to Carolyn Blankenfeld?” Episode 12 - Choke Out  

Trigger Warning - The following episode contains graphic and verbal depictions of bodily harm that some viewers may find upsetting and disturbing. 

Join Ash and team as they continue to speak with Jules on how terrifying it was to find a body in the water, so close to home.  

Ash speaks with Mark about the information within the autopsy report and his medical knowledge and thoughts on the state Carolyn was found in, the morning of May 7.  

Mark then reflects on a time where Chris put him in a choke hold, to the point where he ended up passing out. Chris had stated that he learned this training in the Coast Guard.  Bree then flashes back on her short time in the Army, and shares videos of her choking out two men to the point of passing out. This was a move she learned how to execute in the Army, as well as from Chris.  (Please note that both people are alive and well, and these videos were posted with their approval.)

Bree and Ash wrap up their first trip to Florida feeling great about the information that they have gathered. Ash starts contacting others who are going to be important people to speak with through the investigation.   

After leaving, Bree gets a call from Buddy which reveals some new and interesting information.  

Annie and Bree then receive an email from Chris. The letter seems like he is letting off some frustration on what is going on with the videos and with us questioning those around him. The letter also goes into significant detail about the day on the boat. Chris also give a lot of other information throughout the letter that can be fact checked. The team is relieved to have received this letter. They had been wanting an account of the accident from Chris, but had been unable to get Chris to respond to the email sent to him.

Ash starts really delving into the initial information on this case in Episode 4 of Season 2 "What Happened to Carolyn Blankenfeld?"  

She starts with some of the activities that occurred in the months preceding Carolyn's death.  Three to four months after Carolyn passed away, Chris bought a house 4 states away from where he was currently residing.  The purchase of this home coincided with a woman that he was rumored to know even before he went into the Coast Guard.  Ash starts the process of finding this home, getting the closing details, and heading to the property to see if this mysterious woman still lives in this home.    

Ash also starts communicating with Chris's 2nd wife Danielle.  Ash learns about their past together and some of the strange and unexplainable occurrences that took place.  Ash and Bree meet up in Tennessee to meet face to face with Danielle and to look through old documents and photos.

Ash really starts digging into some of the preliminary information that she has received on the Carolyn Blankenfeld case.

Carolyn and her husband Christopher Blankenfeld went out on a Mother's Day Pontoon ride into the shallow Perdido Bay.

Welcome to Season 2 of Ashes to Ash TV online series, "What happened to Carolyn Blankenfeld."  In this episode Ash hears about a case involving her own family.  Her aunt Carolyn Blankenfeld has been discovered deceased after going on a boat ride with her husband Christopher Blankenfeld.    Something about Chris's story does not add up and Ash teams up with Christopher's daughter Bree to dig in and see where the truth lies.    

Ash speaks to Bree in length to find out what concerns she has about her step mother's death.  After speaking with her, she reaches out to Carolyn's best friend, to see if the same concerns are shared by him.  Ash agrees that there are some inconsistencies with this case and agrees to look into it further.
