Higher Thinking With Ashley And Bar

This week we have Ashley back with us and the girl's just catch up on last week's episode. They also talk about everything from preschool graduations, gas prices, the earth being ghetto and the reason why we tip certain professions? 

This week Jessica talks with our friend Ebony about everything from childhood trauma, toxic relationships, self-worth and more! We get into the heavy stuff but as always, add in some laughs because laughs fix everything, right? 

This week Ashley & Jessica talk about Jessica growing up as a Mexican-American and not being "mexican enough". Have you ever felt like you weren't accepted in your culture? Ashley also speaks on Bar relating and feeling that way because he is mixed. Then they get into how hard it can be to watch friends, family members, or significant others struggling while not being able to help them. The girls also give each other updates on school and what their plans are in that department. 

So this week the girls discuss the "reunion drama" and what loyalty means to some. For Ashley, removing herself from that was the best course of action because it was just a little too messy. They also discuss their fitness journey and how working out and eating right can be SO difficult for them. Ashley & Jessica also touch on their beauty studio opening and dinner which was unfortunately filmed but not shown this season. They reflect on all of the hard work that Ashley put in during that difficult time in her life and how it was unfortunately overshadowed. They finish up this episode answering some questions from the viewers/listeners!

This week we get into the looks of the Met Gala and how some people did or didn't impress us. All of the Kardashians being invited to the Met Gala was the big topic of conversation, how did you all feel about their looks? We also get into the fact that MGK and Megan Fox drink each other's blood for "ritual purposes". How do we feel about that? We finish up this episode by speaking on the topic of step parenting, bonus parents, deadbeat dad's and more! 

This week the girls update each other on Jessica's trip to Austin and Ashley's trip to LA for the Teen Mom 2 Reunion. Have you taken a kidless vacation? Jessica talks about how much moms want a break but then when you get one, you can't help but miss your babies. She's not alone, right? Ashley tells Jessica about the reunion and if it went smoothly or not because reunions usually get a little crazy. Then they speak about wanting to make sure that they help their kids make those amazing "core memories" and that vacations and experiences are more important than toys and gifts. This episode wraps up with an exciting wedding update for Ashley & Bar and how Ashley decided to change things up. 

On this week's episode, Ashley brags about going to the Bridgerton Ball, hello? Where's the invite? Then we go down the rabbit hole of doomsday prep, underground bunkers and canned chicken? Are we the only ones that have these thoughts or? Next, we both speak on recurring dreams and whether they have meaning or are just random? We want to know. We finish up by reminiscing of being a kid watching PBS, Disney channel and riding your bike to the corner store and discuss the fact that our kids will never be able to do some of the things that we did!

Ashley & Jessica speak on the whole idea of 90 Day Fiancé, how the cultural differences can sometimes change things and if they could possibly fall in love like that. Ashley makes it very clear she needs that physical connection before any kind of commitment (can't blame her). Then they bring on their special guest Kimberly from 90 Day Fiancé where she talks about her and Usman, their connection, misconceptions, and of course, some tea is spilled regarding the playstation, laptop, and so much more!

In this week's episode we dive into Teen Mom Family Reunion and Ashley's thought on the end of the season. What did she think of the experience? Will she do it again? Then we get into Ashley's new favorite toy, the Oculus she bought for Bar for his birthday! Why does virtual reality seem so real when you know it isn't? Then we start with the NSFW talk and Ashley shares the news about the leaked celeb sex tapes going around at the moment and let's just say that we were both flabbergasted. Of course that just led us to all things SEX (toys, sex clubs, and everything in between). We finally wrap up the sex talk and move onto something a little more PG and discuss some of our favorite tv shows and how we can sometimes get so invested into the characters.

Sometimes just being able to talk openly about something can make it a little less stressful because you no longer feel as alone. So today's episode we started talking about Kanye's new girlfriend and how we feel about that whole ordeal/media frenzy. We also discuss how deep friendships/relationships can offer so much to your growth as a person because those connections can allow you to have an outsider's perspective on your behavior. You can learn from that so long as you don't get defensive and understand they are coming from a genuine place. Then Ashley asks Jessica if she would rather take the blue pill (in the matrix) or the red pill (unplugged from the matrix) and we take a minute going down that rabbit hole. We end on an important topic of using trauma as an excuse to hurt others vs. trying to heal so you don't end up being in the "hurt people, hurt people" scenario.

We went through all the questions about their relationship, future plans, babies, marriage and everything in between! In this episode we discuss the little coupon code filled drama with the Teen Mom Family Reunion between Jenelle and Ashley. We also discuss reality tv in general and how there are misconceptions of whats scripted, edited, etc. Also we get into the fact that maybe some things that are "toxic" for some are normal and okay by others and to not be ashamed of that. Not everything is perfect and no one should have to pretend that it is. We talk about social media changing the way that we look at life, relationships, money, etc and it making it very hard to just be imperfect.

Hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving! We are happy to be back this week! We talked about how our Thanksgiving went and had a heated discussion about whether using Velveeta in mac n cheese is a big no no and whether putting black olives in potato salad is ok. What do y'all think? Ashley also speaks about people commenting on her weight and how people will have something to say regardless if you are "too small" or "too big" (she also has a big announcement). We also got into setting boundaries with family, friends, and everyone in your life. Sometimes it takes years to learn how to stand up for yourself but always stay true to yourself and express your feelings whenever you feel you need to, no matter who you are speaking to. 

In today's episode we discuss Britney Spears being free from her 13 year conservatorship and how her life could change moving forward as well as the trauma that could have stemmed from being controlled for that long. We also got into heavy topics and discussed cultural appropriation, cancel culture, and being respectful of other people's cultures and experiences. We discuss the importance of wanting to come together and learn/grow as a society and how anyone who isn't willing to do that could hold us back from moving forward.

This week on I Need Wine we discuss the extremely heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the Astroworld Festival and Travis Scott. How much is he to blame? We also speak on getting botox, deciding to get surgery vs. just trying to workout and how social media can change those decisions. We talk about wanting to show our kids the value in things other than clothes, bags, cars, etc. We've all likely struggled at some point with comparing ourselves to others on social media and really having to take a step back and really see what is important. 

Our first official Wine Wednesday! We speak about the crazy storm we had in Northern California and all of the flooding, etc. We also give a little update on Brian Laundrie since there was an update given right after we recorded last week's episode! Ashley speaks about the Tara Lee adoption scandal and we touch on human trafficking as well. We end today's episode with our reactions to some of our listener's crazy confessions!

Back from a little hiatus and we jump right into some true crime (our favorite)! We discuss Gabby Petito, Scott Peterson, and a couple other cases. We also talk about the importance of being able to call your parents if you're drunk or in trouble and that we want to be those parents that remember that we were kids once too. Because imagine the bad things that can happen if you don't feel safe enough to call your parents in fear of getting in trouble.

In today's episode we start by getting into the whole old school parenting vs. new school parenting. Which is better? Should we fully break the cycle or just do some tweaking? There seems to be a thin like with parenting and as we all know, there is no handbook and can also depend on how your kids need to be parented individually. Is it still okay to smack your child's hand? That leads us into the question of "why aren't men on birth control?" and why does the burden have to be on us in that way? Yet they have the nerve to try and speak on abortion or the NERVE to be a deadbeat dad. And child support, is it always fair? Of course in everything we talk about today, these are just our opinions and also depend on certain situations. Thanks for listening!

In today's episode we talk about starting our business called Aries Beauty Studio! We have been talking about opening up a beauty studio for a while now and BOOM, we're making it happen. Jeff Bezos is going to space, why can't we open a studio? Don't ever let someone make you feel insecure about your decisions to follow your dreams. We speak on having to filter out all the "how are you going to do all that?" and the "that's gonna be hard" comments because yeah, no sh*t it's going to be hard. But you can be a mom, a wife, a friend and a damn business owner or a nurse or a MF rocket scientist if you want to. All you have to do is put in the work and shut out people's negativity. 

This episode we decided to do a Q&A where we answer all of the questions that you all asked! Some juicy, some about relationships and everything in between. We had fun answering some questions and of course, as always going off on tangents about who knows what. 

During today's episode, let us just first apologize for all of the cat meowing and children playing in the background. We normally don't record with all the kids home, so if you hear them playing in the backyard, apologies in advance but they were having fun. But in this episode we went down the conspiracy rabbit hole for the first time on this podcast. We speak about Epstein's plane, the ALLEGED activities that Michael Jackson was involved in, and of course, serial killers because we all love some true crime moments. Also we get into spoiling your kids with material things vs. spoiling them with experiences such as traveling. What is more important and does social media tend to influence how we think we should or should not spoil our kids?

On today's episode we talk about whether "no new friends" is a good thing or not? Spoiler alert, we think that's trash advice. We speak about how growing and evolving can cause you to lose friends and that is okay. New friends can teach you new things and open your mind. Outgrowing friends doesn't mean you are a bad friend or that you are disloyal, it just means their season in your life is over. 

In today's episode, we discuss the premier of Teen Mom 2 and how the transition has been. We also speak on how social media has changed the way our children will grow up, how it affects anxiety/depression and so much more. How did we go from staying out until the street lights on to the world we live in now?
