Ep. #6 - GastroFest 2018

It's time once again for GastroFest 2018! This is the 4th annual GastroFest happening in a new location this year. This year you will find GastroFest at Friendship Fountain on the Southbank of the St. Johns River.

On the podcast, I'm speaking to Erin Thursby. She is the creative force behind the concept and execution of GastroFest. I had a chance to sit down with her recently to discuss what to expect this year. There will be a kid Zone as well as Homebrew competition! There are plenty of vegan options, so go check out more information over at
www.gastrojax.org

Gastro Fest is a celebration of local food and drinks with an emphasis on being green. It's important to know that no plastic will be allowed at the event this year. In fact, use the #greeninggastrofest in your social media posts and every time you do and pair it with a picture of you doing something green, you will be entered into a drawing for fun prizes and rewards!
All the details for can be found at www.gastrojax.org

Ep. #4 - The Catty Shack Ranch

Ep. #4 - The Catty Shack Ranch

Today, I'm speaking with two special ladies who are absolutely dedicated to the work they do.
The first half of our interview is with Jordan Joseph, who is a volunteer coordinator with The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary, the #1 rated thing to do in Northeast Florida according to TripAdvisor magazine. The Catty Shackis a big cat wildlife sanctuary that helps aging animals get the care they need all the way to the end of their life. Since these animals live 2-3 times as long as they do in the wild, their cost of care can get pretty expensive, so they offer public tours to offset that expense.
Come out to the ranch during their nighttime feedings that are open to the public and learn more about the 50 or so big cats, as well as the foxes and coatimundis roaming around the sanctuary. At the ranch, you will see a variety of big cats including bobcats, lions, tigers, leopards, and cougars.
Be sure to check out the www.cattyshack.orgwebsite for the Roar and Snore Semi-annual Campout h

Ep. #3 - OPFM & Angelwood

today, I'm excited because we are going to have 2 separate interviews. Both of the ladies I talk to today have events going on this weekend, so I wanted to get this episode out to you as soon as possible. My first guest is Emily Dockery from the town of Orange Park. she coordinates all the events that the town hosts throughout the year and today she's here to talk to us about the Orange Park Farmers Market that's been going on for the last couple years, but I wanted to have her on because the weather is about to turn beautiful and folks are ready to get out and about. We'll have her on to discuss everything you need to know about the #1 ranked Farmers Market in all of Northeast Florida.

After that we are going to change gears and talk to Tera Lageman from a small, but mighty local charity that assists children and adults with developmental disabilities. The charity is called Angelwood and Tera will tell us all about a big event that's going on this Monday at the Jacksonville Clay Tar
