Sahar Martinez, LMFT, is back and using her voice to educate us on important topics like diversity, inclusion and anti-racism. More than ever this is a conversation that needs to continue as we educate ourselves on the true experiences of BIPOC in America, unlearning much of our history as told in schools. Over the recent months, we have been listening, learning and making changes in our own families and wanted to bring this conversation to our community with someone who is actively doing the work to amplify voices that matter. Sahar talks about growing up in Orange County with immigrant parents, her experiences after 9-11 and how we can support the BIPOC friends in our personal lives. We are grateful to Sahar for taking the time to educate us on ways to bring the importance of diversity and antiracism into our daily lives to make a lasting impact today and in the generation of our children. The work truly starts in the home and even further Sahar shares how it starts within.

Episode 49: How to Tap into Your Purpose // Guest Dr. Danielle Dowling Intuitive Business + Spiritual Mentor

Episode 49: How to Tap into Your Purpose // Guest Dr. Danielle Dowling Intuitive Business + Spiritual Mentor

The show must go on... but not necessarily in the same way!

Meet Danielle. She is this weeks podcast guest and also Heather's magical Intuitive Business and Spiritual Mentor. For the last 10 years she has been helping people make radical life changes, but knew this was her calling since before she was old enough to legally order a glass of Pinot Grigio.

After earning both a master’s and doctorate in psychology, (Psy.D). she realized her own dream as a life coach and began pursuing soul-alignment through mentoring and listening to people like you share your fears, frustrations…and re-introducing individuals to the dreams that had been forgotten or put on the shelf.

We chatted with Danielle about what it's like for business owners during this time, what is the most important work we can be doing right now and how can we really make things flow in our lives?

She spends 6 hours a day listening to entrepreneurs and business professionals like us ask the big questions and today she's sharing her knowledge with us!

Subscribe to our Newsletter to download the PDF that you can follow along as we chat about her philosophy around "Feel Good = Things Flow."  We love these freebies on her website too.

ABOUT DR. DANIELLE DOWLING

I’ve been helping people make radical life changes since before I was old enough to legally order a glass of Pinot Grigio.

I have always been fascinated by human potential and spirituality. I was 9 years old when my father began to introduce me to Zig Ziglar, Norman Vincent Peale, Tony Robbins and the work of Esther and Jerry Hicks…

It is my life’s work to help people make dramatic, transformative shifts into their inner greatness.

I later earned both my master’s and my doctorate in psychology, (Psy.D). I realized my own dream as a life coach in Los Angeles, pursuing soul-alignment through mentoring and speaking throughout the wellness community.

For the past 10 years, I’ve spent six hours a day listening to people like you share your fears and your frustrations…and re-introducing them to the dreams that had been forgotten or put on the shelf.

(That’s over 15,000 hours of coaching that has allowed me to develop high levels of compassion, and the necessary skill-set to help my clients get exactly what they want in life!)

I have the raw talent, intuition, and experience to help you release all limitation and have the greatest experience of yourself possible.

I’ve done it successfully – not only in my own life, but for a long list of clients – from celebrities, to entrepreneurs, to ambitious professionals, to stay-at-home-moms.

Speaking of moms…

I am one.

I know what it’s like to always be taking care of everyone else, and to feel like you’ll never have the time or luxury of actually enjoying a cup of coffee, let alone pursuing your own dreams…(am I right?)

Episode 46: Connected Parenting With Hayley Goldberg LMFT // Tuning in to Your Toddlers

If you ever wanted to tune in, now is the time people. We had the absolute pleasure of interviewing (read giving us a counseling session) Hayley Goldberg who shared some incredible parenting insight with us as we navigate toddlerhood. There was crying, breakthroughs and lots of laughs. Tune in and please share your thoughts on Instagram! We’d love to hear from you. This is a very special episode and so thankful we get to share it today!

MEET PARENTING COACH HAYLEY GOLDBERG LMFT,  FOUNDER OF HEART OF CONNECTING

I specialize in helping parents of toddlers and preschoolers enjoy a loving, happier, calmer, more confident parenting experience with their little ones. My approach is based on respect and compassion for parents. There is no judgement with me because parenting isn’t easy. We are all trying to find our way and none of us are perfect. My work is tailored to helping parents get to the root of their parenting frustrations and challenges and teaching them positive, collaborative strategies that build warm, trusting relationships between parents and children. I also work with couples to help them understand and respect their parenting differences and give them tools to develop a partnership in their parenting. When parents collaborate on their parenting and cooperate with each other they raise kids who feel both understood and connected, and family life is more peaceful, relaxed, and loving, and parenting is more FUN! I have been a parent for 23 years and I have guided parents for over 14 years as a therapist, parent educator, and parenting coach. I have been working hands on in early childhood (toddlers and preschoolers) for the past 8 years working with parents, kids, preschool teachers, directors, and home daycare providers. I am blessed with an amazing husband and we are the proud parents of three wonderful and incredible kids. No job has been harder or more rewarding than being a mom and I whole heartedly understand the struggles, fears and challenges that come with being a loving and caring parent. When I am not with my family or supporting parents, you can find me enjoying coffee with friends, reading articles or a parenting book that has caught my attention, or walking my four German Shepherds – hours and hours of walking!

Episode 35: Sexual Healing // Lady Parts Chat with The Down There Doc - Marcy Crouch, PT, DPT, WCS

Episode 35: Sexual Healing // Lady Parts Chat with The Down There Doc - Marcy Crouch, PT, DPT, WCS

Ladies, it’s about time people start talking about the postpartum care that is so needed for our poor little vajay-jay’s. So we decided we need to practice what we preach and brought a pelvic floor expert on today's episode, Marcy Crouch, PT, DPT, WCS aka The Down There Doc.
Marcy is someone Heather met through the Happy Mom Conference (remember way back when we gave two tickets to this conf away!) and loved her personality and passion for female health. She’s seriously amazing and sheds some light during this week’s podcast on our pelvic floor - how important it is, how it can be weakened (even if you’ve never been pregnant) and even chats about some delivery stuff too!
It’s a really interesting and hilarious podcast. One we’re proud of because it’s crazy that we shoot babies out of our bodies or have issues down there and there aren’t many known resources (especially that are covered by insurance) to help us stay at our optimal health!
No more have a baby and see you in 6 weeks. Tune in and get to know why that’s no longer acceptable, or ok for your body!

Episode 32: Motherhood Transitions // Preserving Your Identity

Episode 32: Motherhood Transitions // Preserving Your Identity

Where did you go? This is a question Mom’s tend to ask themselves after being thrusted into motherhood. Where did I go? Who am I now? What has happened to my life? It sounds dramatic until you’re in the vortex of becoming a parent and quickly realized your life has changed forever.

It took both of us a while to process our new normal with baby #1 and now we don’t know any other way of life - but it took work to find our rhythm. Maybe rhythm is the new “balance” because once we found that we felt a little like ourselves again. Today on the podcast we’re chatting about preserving your identity through the transition of motherhood.

Becoming a parent doesn’t mean you have to completely change and abandon your past. It doesn’t mean you can’t still be that fun, happy, sexy girl who loves to dance while spilling her cocktail AND an incredible mother who is passionate about her significant other and family life.

It’s about finding those pieces you want to take from your pre-parenthood life and figuring out how to weave those into your new chapter. Maybe it’s dance parties with your kiddo(s), maybe it’s making sure you have one solo night with the girls a month to do you. Maybe it’s scheduling in date night and creating at home dates to have 1:1 time with your significant other.

Whatever it is we feel you and know finding your rhythm is important. If you haven’t already make a goal to sit down this week and decide what you need, then communicate it ti to those who support you so they can help and keep you accountable.

No more Mama comes last for you!

Episode 28: Practical Planning // Our Delivery Game Plan + Maternity Leave

Episode 28: Practical Planning // Our Delivery Game Plan + Maternity Leave

We’re not ready, but THIS IS happening … Ok, this week’s podcast went a little sideways (in a good way) as we hopped on to discuss our birth + maternity leave plans. One thing we learned as we reviewed the documents - yes 2-3 page documents - we created for baby #1 is that things really do change the second time around.
We’re sharing what we thought we needed, what we really needed and what we plan to do this time around when it comes to birth and maternity leave. It’s tough being a working mama that is on your own, but we have tricks up our sleeve like accepting a helping hand from Biz Babysitters to give us the time we need.
Take a listen to our thoughts and head over to our blog post about our plans or insta page to share yours! We know you have some good insight too and we’d love to hear them.

Episode 26: The Art of Alone-time // Why We Need to Learn to Roll Solo

Episode 26: The Art of Alone-time // Why We Need to Learn to Roll Solo

Are You Good at Being Alone? I mean… we wish we were. We kinda suck at it. You always want what you can’t have, right?

As an entrepreneur you rarely get to shut it off when you’re doing your own 9-5 (read all day EVERY day). We’ve gotten used to that and taken the necessary steps to create space in our lives. BUT the most shocking thing of becoming a parent was the fact that YOU’RE NEVER ALONE! It added a whole other layer of lack of space, creating an even bigger need for those special moments that were just for us.

THEN, even when you’re alone all you’re doing is thinking about what you need to do for work/home or how much you miss the loved ones you’re away from. We’re all about the kids being watched by people we trust and saying PEACE, but we still find ourselves not fully able to disconnect.

So today’s podcast is about the “Art of Alone-time” and how we can strengthen that muscle. If you have this down share your knowledge bombs. We’re all ears! Hit us up on Insta.

Episode 25: It’s Summer. Now what? // How Pregnancy Has Changed this Season for Us

But seriously, it’s summer and we feel a bit off. Maybe it’s the pregnancy? While everyone is ramping up to live their best life and in full “GO” mode, we’re winding down as we prepare to expand our families (and bodies) to make room for this new life.

Each season has its own energy, and this time we’re out of sync with Summer’s “get after it” vibe. So how are we dealing with that as we prepare to head out for maternity leave? Tune in to find out!
