43. A New Spin on Weight Loss

43. A New Spin on Weight Loss

Now that the world is “opening up”, I’ve been seeing lots of social media posts about hitting the gym real quick and trying fad diets to get in shape before going back in public. Of course these are meant to be funny, but are we laughing though? Do you look at those posts and think about yourself like, man, I should be doing something too because I want to look snatched too. Covid weight is a real thing, and some of you might feel discouraged at the number staring back at you on the scale. Today I invited Rachel Goode to join us for this conversation where she opens up about her struggle of gaining over 90lbs unexpectedly and the feelings of hopelessness that ensued after that. Rachel is perfect to address this topic because she’s a researcher and her research focuses on non-diet weight management focused on black women and she looks at eating disorders. She knows what it’s like to carry more weight than you want. She’s felt stuck, hopeless, has gone from diet to diet, has felt desperate. But she also knows what it's like to feel free again from weight struggles. This episode is inspiring and you’ll leave hopeful!

To connect with Rachel and continue this conversation, you can find her on Twitter:  @DrRachelGoode

42. Choosing Gratefulness

42. Choosing Gratefulness

Have you struggled during this time with your thoughts? Have you felt low or depressed? If I’m being honest, it’s been so much easier to grab hold of complaints instead of finding things to be grateful about. I wanted to explore this area and talk with someone who has extensive experience in this space to help shed some light on how we can choose to change our thinking and opt to be more grateful. Our guest today is Victoria Walker has dealt with depression and she shares with us the practice tips that God revealed to her during her journey. Victoria is the perfect person to share on this as she has a podcast and blog called Choose to Think where she deals with how the issues of your heart can impact your thinking. After this show, you’ll leave with some practical tips on how to actually be more grateful in your daily life and how you can embrace joy, freedom, and hope for your emotional healing.
To contact Victoria, check out her website:
