It’s a really great class and we highly recommend attending. No beer in this episode but feel free to grab a pint and enjoy!! 🍻

Dylan drops some major knowledge bombs that a lot of start up detailers would greatly benefit from. Some people start out with $50,000 in debt with zero clients. This podcast is fueled by Angry Orchard. Grab a pint and enjoy!
Marshall and DJ met the Rag Company team at Mobile Tech Expo 2019 in Orlando. Their team came out to our Pint Nigh and had such a blast that they invited us on their Podcast. Seth Goss, is the founder of Sunnyshine Detailing and was our special guest on this episode. Seth is a very active IDA member who is extremely passionate about the detailing industry. He is a volunteer on two IDA committees and does all he can to give back to the industry.
In this industry everything can be going great with consecutive record breaking months until the unseen happens. If you guys haven’t heard Seth Goss’s story then please listen and help donate to his family. Seth recently slipped on ice and broke his wrist which is keeping him from detailing. This could happen to any of us and so please take a moment and give what you can.
Seth’s IG seth_goss_detailing has the link to his GoFundMe account. Please donate what you can.
Not only did we discuss how to best prepare for these types of incidents but we also had some delicious frosty beverages. New Belgium Brewery has a whole line up tasty beers and we grab a sampler pack that contained Mary Jane Ale and Accumulation. Two beers we definitely recommend!!

You don't want to miss it! Tune in as Marshall and DJ talk about what they liked most at previous events and what they're looking forward to most at this one. Grab a pint and enjoy!
Looking at a new year for all of us, DJ and Marshall want to discuss the most relevant form of marketing for Detailers for 2019. With out a doubt, that would be Instagram!! So why Instagram? What makes the platform so appealing? What should you absolutely not do on IG? What should you definitely do to maximize your marketing efforts?
Instagram is so much more then posting pictures and videos. When done correctly, your marketing efforts can bring in some good revenue streams by setting yourself up as the local detailing expert.
Instagram Marketing is so important that we brought on two Detailers that are crushing in on IG to talk about how they do it. First up is Ronald from All Star Mobile Auto Detailing (IG handle: all_star_detail) who came on to talk about "stories" and how he uses them to grow his business. Secondly, Josh from RAD Auto Detailing (IG Handle: RAD_detailing_edmond) came on to talk about his success with "posts."

This is a very unique episode as we have two full time firefighters/auto detailers on! Our guests included Mark Elliot of Firehouse Auto Spa in Jacksonville, Florida and Jeremy Loque of Firehouse Detail Maui in Hawaii. Our beers of choice were a couple different beers from Kona Brewery. In this episode we discussed what it is like to operate at full capacity within two different industries. Grab a pint and enjoy!
Did you grown up playing sports? The competitiveness of playing sports at an earlier age may possibly contribute to the work hustle that some of us Detailers have. Were you on a good team or did you like to be the star? How does athletics transition into being a business owner? This is one of the few topics that we talked about with Ronald of All Star Detail up in Boston. We enjoyed an incredibly smooth winter wheat by Blue Moon during this recording. Grab a pint and enjoy!

We had a special beer expert/insurance agent on the podcast tonight. We picked his brain about certain insurances for mobile versus fixed. We enjoyed a couple of IPAs which are a least favorite for Marty and DJ. Grab a pint and enjoy!

Shout out to Steam Seattle for sending the growlers of Seattle brew! Marty and DJ sit down to discuss transitioning from the busier seasons to the slower season. Ian Porter made a special appearance and gave major insight into the topic at hand. This is probably one of the entertaining podcasts to date (we think so anyways). Grab a pint and enjoy!
So I sat down with a car wash manager who only drinks Miller light. There are many stigmas on detailing versus a car wash as there are many stigmas on craft beer versus main brands. Let’s raise a pint to anyone improving automobiles and those who brew great beers 🍻 grab a pint and enjoy
We are all great out what we do...But are we maximizing all of our opportunities? Our special guest Brent Ashbrook explains how his dealership is capitalizing on some very creative revenue streams. These principles can be applied in any detailing business when you honk outside the box! In order to help our creative juices flowing we all mix up our beers with something different. You might have to grab two pints as the app keeps crashing on us and there is a little bit of repetition....but grab a pint and enjoy!

Especially, those detailers with a deep desire to produce outstanding work and want to be recognized for their dedication and skill. When is the right time to leave? How do we balance it all with the demands of running our own businesses? Josh from RADs Auto Detailing, and his wife, drove down to Tulsa to record this podcast in person. It is so much more than a piece of paper and certification. It’s a movement... it’s community. Tune in, subscribe, leave us a review, and make it a great day!

Despite the stigma dealerships have, there are some super talent detailers within some dealerships. Tune in as DJ voices his opinions of dealerships while Vue explains the difficulties on managing multiple dealership detailers and being one of the very few “great” that actually give a crap.

Part Two.....When I started doing mobile detailing I bought a power washer, chemicals, a trailer and by magic I was suddenly a Detailer 😳😳 lol I think that is common for a lot of guys who like to clean cars and so they don’t ever get professional training on how to operate their business. Rigo Santana, Ian Porter and DJ Patterson come on to give a jammed packed session. Rigo chose Corona Dark...DJ grabbed us regular Corona 🍻 grab a pint and enjoy this discussion!!

On Instagram we get direct messages on a daily basis. some people call it great customer service I just think it’s a lot of fun. One of the most common questions that is asked is how much should we charge for a ceramic coating application? My suggestion is to always put a value on how much you want to make per hour
We got the new Pints & Polishing Glasses in and so we sit down to have a cold beer and discuss ways to stay more efficient during a detail. If u want to maximize ur time then take a listen while ur doing a detail and pick up some tips from DJ @ecogreenmd or Ian @redbeardsdetailshop 🍻🍻🍻

So grab u a Blonde and a note pads cause ur going to need it!!!
Before u can sell someone a detail u need to first have their attention. I was speaking about this with a local Detailer over lunch. Here’s my 2 cents on how u can get people’s attention in ur local market so u can sell them a detail.
Wow this one is full of content for Detailers on Biz Dev, struggles on starting a business, why Joe patented foam pads & why Detailers should choose certain pads. Ian and DJ are announced as Co-Host 👏🏻👏🏻 and we pour a pint of Franziskaner Hefeweizen
Why would a detailer want to ever talk with other Detailers and have a community together?!? Sounds pretty stupid to some of us but it might actually be a great thing for your business. So tonight we grab a cold local beer from Dead Armadillo and discuss with Justin, DJ, Ian & Dave why someone should go to Mobile Tech Expo this weekend and why someone would want to get their detailing skills validated through the IDA. Grab a beer and enjoy this podcast with tons of content for you!!
Why do dealerships have a stigma of being bad at detailing?!? Ronnie Laporte with Car Brite comes into the podcast to talk about dealership detailing with Ian Porter and DJ Patterson. We examine ways that dealerships can do better and why they traditionally suck at detailing. Not to mention have a killer beer from Left Hand Brewery up in Longmont, CO. If you like coffee & chocolate then u will love Fade To Black. This stout has tons of coffee flavor with rich notes of dark chocolate. Grab one and enjoy!!
A lot of times we as Detailer’s are in love with cleaning cars and it is our passion in life... However many times our passion doesn’t lead to being a profitable business. Here’s a sneak peek at what we will be discussing with Austin from Johnny on the spot mobile detailing
This is a guy that everyone should meet....Jason with Sonax USA. Had a great conversation on the different products that Sonax has. We discuss cleaning Alcantara to how to save time while compounding and polishing. Very informative on the Sonax brand and what they do for our industry. Not to mention sipping on a super great Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale.
As I move closer and closer to 40 I sometimes have moments of reflection. I was a horrible student, barely made it out of high school and shouldn’t have gone to college on my grades. But I somehow passed and got a degree and then really disliked my jobs out of college. By coincidence I happen to start cleaning cars based on a friend’s recommendation and fell in love with it. To this day I’m amazed I’ve been able to have a life and make a living in this industry. It’s been a fun roller coaster that I hope to keep riding for another 40 years.
Should detailers be doing Paint Correction? This was a killer Pints and Polishing Podcast with Justin Labato from JL’s Showroom Detailing and DJ Patterson from Eco Green Mobile Detailing. We dive into an extremely hot topic right now....What is Paint Correction and why is everyone all of a sudden doing Paint Correction. Why do coating companies say “detailers have to be doing Paint Correction? Not to mention he’s swigging back some cold Yuengling a super great beer. So pop the top and take a listen...
How can a Mobile Detailer & Detail Shop stay busy during these cold winter months?!? We dive into this discussion while we sip on Founders Porter. Super delicious beer and great time with Andrew Van Kirk from Precision Detail, DJ Patterson from Eco Green and Ian Porter from Red Beards Detail Shop. You can connect with Andrew on FB or IG @precisiondetailco and definitely go grab some Founders Porter
This was a great one and that doesn’t just mean the beer!! Justin was a great guest to have on for discussing paint correction and paint enhancement!! He enjoyed a pint of Yuengling while DJ from Eco Green and I tossed back a couple cold ones ourselves. Drinking beer and chatting about detailing...what could get better?!?
Most daily drivers will not pay for a “full correction” and so detailers are loosing out on a large amount of biz!! So what’s the number one question u should ask ur coating customers? It’s what do they see? Funny I know but that question has dramatically helped detailers grow their coating business. It helps bec it lets u know what that customer sees in their paint. Bec most daily drivers don’t see the imperfections in their paint then it’s not a valuable service to offer them a paint correction sticker price on top of a the price of a coating. This will scare many prospective customers away Bec they don’t want to pay $1,500 for a correction and coating. So ask them what they see in their paint and when they don’t see all the marring then offer them two packages....one package with a correction and one without the correction. When they choose the lesser priced package then u still do a good polish and prep the paint but u won’t be spending
So many of us detailers are passionate about what we are doing but many times that passion doesn’t translate into a great business. Here is the #1 way you can make more money for your detailing business...
Hope u had a great Thanksgiving!! As I look at everything going on in the Detail world during the holidays it’s very interesting to see how certain brands stand out more then others. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Chemical Company, Detail Shop or Ceramic Coating Supplier....Branding is one of the most important aspects to growth. However many detailers don’t take it serious and their biz struggles to make it to the next level. I wanted to take a brief moment to help some detailers stop and look at their brand and see where and how they can grow it.
Time is the most valuable asset we have. We always need more and we can always save more time. The technology behind Alexa and how we can order food, products, etc. saves us a tremendous amount of time. In the same way that technology is saving us time what can save us time when we are doing a detail... especially paint correction.
Really enjoyed this discussion with DJ from Eco Green. So fun seeing this guy grow his detailing business and so we talk about why he chose waterless vs traditional washing, his business mistakes, what he has learned, why he is apart of the IDA and why he stopped using a big brand coating company.
Have a great discussion with June Joe’s on how to detail at a dealership we also discussed multiple things that people assume about detailing at a dealership. You can find June at dealershipDetailing Podcast.com or find us on Instagram Totalautosolutions or nextlevelcoatings.store
