Back Passt X Balestier Khalsa Season 2, Episode 4 - Ho Wai Loon & Iqram Rifqi

In the fourth episode of our second season on Back Passt X Balestier Khalsa, we interview Balestier's latest signing, Iqram Rifqi and club captain, Ho Wai Loon. 

We ask Iqram about how he got the offer to join Balestier and what made him take it up, we ask him about which team-mate he is glad to have on his side now instead as an opponent and we find out why he has not started the first two matches of the season. 

We then speak to team captain, Ho Wai Loon about how he feels to be named captain, how he helps the new signings integrate into the team and how he resolves any friction in the dressing room finally, we look back at his game against Young Lions. 

We end the show with the Sarah Segment.

In the third episode of our second season on Back Passt X Balestier Khalsa, we interview Balestier's latest foreign signings, Fabian Kwok & Mukundan Maran.

We start with an ice-breaker for both players. We find out what convinced them to join Balestier Khalsa and if they are coming into the season on the high of winning the Singapore Cup with their previous club, Hougang United or on a clean slate. To end the first segment, we find out how their friendship blossomed. 

In the second segment, we ask Fabian what his perception of the club was before joining the club and how he finds it now that he has joined them. We find out how they are settling into the team and the tactical demand of the head coach. Finally, as fate has it, their first league match is against Hougang United and we find out from them what it feels like to play against their former team so early into the season.

This week we speak to a member of the Balestier Khalsa Women's team, Syafiqah Peer who was recently called up for the Singapore National Women's Team and the head coach of the Balestier Khalsa Women's team and the assistant coach of the Singapore National Women's Team, Ratna Suffian. 

We find out from Syafiqah her reaction to receiving the call-up and what it was like going into the national team training alongside two other club teammates, Siti Nurewadah and Nur Izyan. We ask Ratna for his reaction to his players receiving a national call-up. We find out from Syafiqah what is the difference between training for the club compared to the national team. We get her reaction to not playing in the international friendly against Indonesia and we get Syafiqah and Ratna to analyse the friendly defeat to Indonesia. 

We got Ratna to analyse the Women's Premier League season that had just concluded for Balestier Khalsa. We find out from Syafiqah what she improved on and what she feels she needs to improve. 

We find out from Ratna what his future plans are for the team and what Syafiqah's career goals are. Finally, we get their views on the support received this season from the sponsors for the Women's Premier League and the issues surrounding the lack of amenities available at the stadium for their matches.

This week we speak to two young talents, Puvan Raj and Hariysh Kumar. First we revisit the epic win over Lion City Sailors (LCS) on Sunday with Hariysh, as we probe to find out more about what was said by the head coach at half-time and the reaction of the players on the bench to the goals. We ask both of them about how they felt they played in the U21 team as individuals and as a team. 

In the following segment, we get their honest opinions on how their career is panning out so far, what their ideal career would be like and what they need to do to improve. We also ask them if not for football what would they have been pursuing in terms of their career today?

This week we speak to three players that were called up for the senior (Ho Wai Loon) and U21 (Aidil Johari & Ryan Praveen) Singapore national teams during the recent international break in September 2022. 

We first find out about their reaction to being called up for the national team. In the case of Wai Loon, it was his first call-up since 2018 so we find out what the differences were between then and now and if he found any familiar faces from back then. In the case of Aidil and Ryan, we find out how they settled into the squad and what the takeaway is for all three players from their international duty. 

Next, we look forward to the game this Sunday against Lion City Sailors and we ask Wai Loon, after his experience with the national team dominated by Sailors players, how much are they looking forward to facing them. We ask Ryan on what he thinks he needs to do to break into the starting 11. We ask Aidil if the current head coach would give young players more chances to play after seeing players like him make the breakthrough in the first team this season.

We ask Wai Loon as one of the team captains and best players in the team how he plans to motivate the team going into the final stretch of the games this season and we jokingly asked if he picked out any weakness of his national team-mates playing for Sailors to pass on to his head coach.
