David Brent: Life on the Road (2016)

2016 saw the return of David Brent with Life on the Road! Written and directed by Ricky Gervais, who also stars along with Ben Bailey Smith, Jo Hartley and Tom Basden. It's the swan song for this passion project with Chris and Dave and thanks to everyone who's been along for the ride with us, 70mph tops!

Synopsis:

About 13 years after his appearance in the documentary series The Office, a documentary film crew is once again following the life of David Brent. He now works as a rep for a cleaning goods distributor, but he still harbors dreams of making it big in the music business. Acting on this, he takes three weeks off work and tours with a new-look version of Foregone Conclusion, the band he was part of in the 1990s--he's the only remaining original member, for various reasons.

The Office UK S3E1 - Christmas Special: Part 1

It's that time of year and we're back for the first of two Christmas specials of The Office.

Christmas Special: Part 1

It's been three years since the BBC documentary crew first arrived at the office. Back for one last visit, they find Gareth Keenan now in charge and is running the office with a military precision. Since we last saw David Brent he has become a sales rep for a cleaning products company, released his own pop single and has acquired an agent to look after his celebrity appearances. He visits his old workplace regularly, despite him successfully suing Wernham Hogg for unfair dismissal. The big news for Tim is the imminent arrival of Dawn. The documentary crew has kindly ...

The Office UK S2E6 - Interview

The Office UK S2E6 - Interview

Time to see out the last of the second series and Brent has had his marching orders!.

Interview

It's David last day and he is outwardly very calm about it all. The company has sent a writer to interview him for an article on leadership and his idea is to dictate the contents rather than answer any of her questions. He thinks he has a bright future as a trainer but gets bad news on that front as well. He tries to reverse Neil's decision but to no avail. Tim decides it's time to have a chat with Dawn. Gareth is convinced that he's in line to replace David.

The Office UK S2E5 - Charity

This podcast is mixed with Flashdance and MC Hammer sh*t.

Charity

It's the annual comic relief day fund raiser at the office and the employees are up to their usual silliness. Tim raises money from his mates by playing a prank on Gareth. Dawn is selling kisses at reception and the bashful Tim buys one. It leads him to reconsider his relationship with Rachel but he's devastated when he hears of her near-term plans with Lee. Others in the office have their own take on humor but David is again pushed to extremes when the ever popular Neil does a spot on John Travolta imitation from Saturday Night Fever. Humor aside, David has also

The Office UK S2E4 - Motivation

David is getting ready for his big motivational speech day but Neil isn't too happy.

Motivation

David's attempt at being cool includes sporting an earring. His session as a trainer arrives but his unique approach doesn't work very well. Tim and Rachel are carrying on at the office, much to Gareth's dismay. Dawn doesn't seem too pleased either. Neil takes David to task for not thinking things through before making decisions. He also tells him he's more worried about being popular than steering the ship in the right direction..

The Office UK S2E1 - Merger

Chris and Dave are back with the start of Season 2, Merger. Some stories from the past, which should really remain there. Just like some of David's jokes.

Merger

It's the day of the big merger. The Swindon branch has closed and several of the staff, including the new manager of the combined Slough Branch, Neil Godwin, arrive. Tim is comfortable in his new role as the senior sales rep while Dave and Gareth continue with their own wacky humor. Dave in particular puts his foot in it with his welcome speech of jokes and anecdotes that go over like a lead balloon. In the party afterward his racist joke leads to a complaint from one of the new intake as does his feeble attempt at humor about drugs, leading Jennifer Taylor-Clark to reprimand him.

The Office UK S1E6 - Judgement

The Office UK S1E6 - Judgement

It's time for 6th and final episode of Series 1 this week; Judgement. Chris and Dave get their teeth into this finale which could mean all change for the Slough branch.

"Judgement"

It's the day to announce the redundancies. Tim tells David he's leaving and is happy to do so. Dawn is actually hoping that she'll be one of the redundancies. When Jennifer Taylor-Clark arrives, she announces to David that she's been promoted and he is in line to replace her. It would mean however that the Slough branch would be reduced in size and bear the brunt of the redundancies. He accepts without hesitation. Gareth takes the news particularly hard. David becomes the hero when he subsequently announces that he's decided to turn down the job to save the branch.

It's time again for a trip down memory lane as the boys tackle the quiz episode.

"Training"

To fend off the increasing staff disillusionment a Training Day has been scheduled. Dawn's engagement to Lee is on the rocks and Tim begins to think that he may at last have a chance with her.

The Office UK S1E2 - Work Experience

The Office UK S1E2 - Work Experience

The guys go through episode 2 and reminisce of old school office tails. The stories get more inline with the TV show. Thanks for all the wonderful feedback from the first episode. Keep the questions and social media messages coming we love reading them all.

"Work Experience"
David introduces an attractive young new employee, Donna—who is staying with him as a favour to her parents—and grows uncomfortable with the attention she receives from male employees. David discovers a pornographic image with his face superimposed onto the body of a naked woman and finds that everybody in the office has seen it. He covers his embarrassment by pretending to be angry because the image "offends women", and gives Gareth the task of finding the culprit; Tim mocks Gareth as he takes it far too seriously. Jennifer asks David if he has made any changes: he says that he has already made a warehouse employee redundant, but after being undermined by sexist warehouse workers, Jennifer discovers that he is lying. Gareth tells David that Tim created the image, and David reprimands him in an effort to prove himself to Jennifer. Tim reveals that it was in fact David's friend Chris Finch who created it, and David's attitude changes entirely; he calls it "bloody hilarious". Jennifer suggests that David apologise to Tim and sack Finch instead, and David dials a telephone and stages a firing. Jennifer presses the speakerphone button, revealing that he called the speaking clock instead.

The Office UK S1E1 - Downsize

The Office UK S1E1 - Downsize

Welcome to the first episode in our new podcast series reviewing The Office UK. Chris and Dave loved talking about this amazing show when it first arrived on UK TV. It was the thing that brought them together as friends whilst travelling up and down the UK in their band Whatever. We have some stories from the guys about working in offices themselves as well as dissecting each episode.

"Downsize"

A documentary crew films the activities of the Slough branch of paper merchant Wernham Hogg. The regional manager is David Brent, a 39-year-old man who arrogantly thinks he is likeable and entertaining. Among his employees are Dawn Tinsley, his receptionist; Tim Canterbury, a sales representative; and Gareth Keenan, his sycophantic assistant. David's boss Jennifer Taylor-Clarke tells him that Wernham Hogg cannot run both Slough and Swindon branches, and that the more efficient will incorporate the other. David panics at the prospect of his branch being closed and his employees made redundant, but promises to keep it secret; rumours spread around the office. David hires a new forklift driver and shows new temp Ricky Howard around the office. Tim annoys Gareth by putting his stapler inside a jelly, and later dropping it out of a window. After being confronted about redundancies, David holds a meeting and explains the situation; employees are immediately worried for their jobs. David pretends Dawn is being fired for stealing Post-it Notes, but his joke backfires when she starts crying.

Outro played by Mark Wills. Checkout his YouTube link.
