This episode we do something a little bit different... but kind of the same.

We were very keen to talk about the achievements of the Banter Podcast and thought theres no better way to do that then by having Past guests join us and talk it through.

We have all the hosts on this episode, and joining us are Ray Daniels from Barrel and Batch, Crafty Field from Craft Works, Dean Druce from Corowa Distilling, Fiona Beasley from Coburn and Co Distilling, Simon Khoury from Simon's Cigars and Spirits And Mark Teague of Whisky is my Jam fame!

We have a decent chat and get to know whats been happening with everyone over the last 12 months, and a little of what is planned going forward.

This week we are privileged to have two special guests on Banter with Chantal from Kinglake Distillery and Justin from Whisky in Isolation.

Chantal gives us a run down on everything to do with Kinglake from it's humble beginnings, to their mash bill, the barrels and the releases.

We even get the story about the First release and the issues they faced getting it out to the market.

Justin has released a Single malt from Kinglake and he gives us an insiders view of how it all works.

This is one of our favorite chats and some of us learnt so much and feel it is something you will also enjoy.

Another shorter format Episode cause it's all about the content right?

This episode we were treated by John to a sample each of Redbreast 21 year old.

wow what a dram. we compare it to quite a few other Redbreast releases and of course other distilleries.

We also can't let an episode go by without discussing an Australian distillery and tonight we chat about Starwards, Spring Bay and Wild River Mountain Distilleries Australian Whiskey Batch 4.

All cracking drams and well worth it if you can pick them up..

This week we thought we'd do something a little different, but kinda the same.

As you listen you may guess this episode was recorded a couple of months ago.

We sat down and had a couple of wee drams and talked about them as per usual.

But this was at the time when we had just heard that Olivia Newton John had passed away.

So we said cheers to Olivia as we all grew up with her songs on the radio.

Wes also made a comeback to the podcast, he didn't go anywhere he has just been a busy man. And Wes updates us on how Wild River Mountain Distillery is paying dividends for all that work with the releases he has locked and loaded.

Hey all welcome to Season 2!

So we unplugged a little, let the podcast cool down and then wacked it on charge so that it was all set for season 2!

So this podcast is a short one and we basically just go through a whats in your glass? 

But there are a few serious topics that we go through, like Blends and where we think they are placed in the industry.

we also talk about Rye's and Australians distilleries performance on the world stage with them.

and we also look at Overeem and what they are doing currently with their releases.

There is only one distillery in Australia that has received the accolades of Worlds Best Whisky, and that is Sullivan’s Cove.

This week we talk to Ally Bhana who has been with Sullivan’s Cove for a few years now and has worked at the cellar door and has now made her way up  to management.

We find out Ally’s journey in the world of whisky so far and what she has on the go currently.

Of course we talk about Sullivan’s Cove and the production processes they employ, the core range and their differences and of course what to watch out for.

Ally also takes us through the plans for the new distillery in the heart of Hobart, which sounds very exciting.

We do touch on the sales strategies that are employed and Ally explains  that there is an algorithm for when you go in the ballot for a bottle that the more you miss out the more likely you are to be successful in  the future. It is as fair as they can make it, so don’t listen to the  haters.

We have had Dan Wooley from Highwayman Whisky on before and had a blast that time, and with him having an event coming up we thought it was a great opportunity to catch up again.

So we discuss what’s been released since last time and gee he has been busy then we find out what’s available now and coming out before the end of the year. Don’t worry he isn’t letting up on quality or quantity.

And of course he fills us in on the Winter Feast event that’s coming in August at the cellar door, and wow it is going to be a tasting experience! With great food and amazing whisky all while getting a master class from the man himself!

This week on Banter we sit down and enjoy a few drams with none other than Shaun Restorick from Brisbane.

We got through a What’s in your glass and find out a little about wine casks from Shaun in the process.

Then we find out how trying to help a friend out at work decide to get together to try a few different drams was the start of the Supping Club, a whisky tasting club where you pay a small fee for a monthly evening of drams, education, food and great company. You’re not locked in, you just choose which nights you want to go to. Having gone to a few, I can definitely recommend.

And now even that has also evolved!  With an annual whisky tasting event called Whisky Whisky. The second of these coming up in late September.

So  it’s a shorter Banter this week and while we are still missing two of our hosts, the rest of the crew are on board and we actually have one of  our friends on from the Whisky podcast Dram Talk. Daniel wasn’t able to join us but Brad was keen to do another round of Banter.

We had a load of fun and learned a lot last time so we were absolutely keen to do this again. We definitely recommend you jump on and have a  listen to Brad and Daniel’s podcast, You can find Dram Talk on apple podcasts and Spotify.

Matt Bailey has been in and around the whisky industry for 10+ years and has been the Brand Ambassador for Scotch Malt Whisky Society for a good deal of those.

We get a run down of Matt’s journey in both Whisky and the industry.

We learn about SMWS how it works and even get some insight into what’s coming.

And all the while we do some pretty amazing tastings of some previous whiskies from the society.

This week we do something a little different….. but mostly the same…

So we were really excited to have these guests on, but VIC and Wes were having a fanboy moments! Why you ask? Well this week was all about  bourbon, and there are no better guests when it comes to Bourbon in Australia.

Yep we had Sean and Greg from Bourbon Brothers Australia on to tell us all about Australia’s premier Bourbon subscription service.

The Brothers Bourbon take us  through a tasting of the Rye July subscription pack with a Rebel (Yell) Rye, which has an amazing story to it, The Rittenhouse straight Rye, and probably the favourite of the line up for the crew the Wilderness Trail straight Rye which was incredible.

While we are sipping these whiskies, the boys tell us all about themselves and how they got this idea to put this service out there in Australia and of course we get an understanding of how they do this and what you can expect if you subscribe.

These boys are clearly not in it for the return on investment but more to get products out there that people will love to try. Plus the size of the  samples mean you get a decent opportunity to really appreciate them.
