We are having way too much fun!
Week 4 in the BBL was jam-packed with 10 games on the slate. The basketball action did not disappoint, and Jay and Drew were there for it all. This dynamic duo is trying out a new coverage style for The BBL Show, by unpacking the week team by team, as opposed to straight game coverage. We hope fans of this show like to switch up. Post your feedback.
Drew and Jay also spend some time with Manchester Giants’ owner and performance coach, Jamie Edwards. Jamie had a successful basketball career in England, and now pays-it-forward to other athletes who need to learn how to transform their mental game. With his electric delivery, Jamie teaches athletes how to focus on the controllables and accept the results without blaming anyone.
Listen as Jamie uses his motivational skills to get Drew and Jay excited about the rebrand and bright future for the Giants!
In Part 2 of Episode 10 we are joined by the BBL’s Head of Communications, Selina Conroy and Olympian and former Glasgow Rock, Kieron Achara. We discuss the new 2- year Sky Sports deal which add Kieron to their commentary team.
The British Basketball League is delighted to announce the return of coverage of the BBL to Sky Sports this season. The two-year agreement will see Sky Sports air 30 live BBL matches a season.
As part of the agreement Sky Sports will also air the BBL Trophy Final, BBL Cup Final, BBL Playoffs and live coverage of the Women’s BBL Playoff final.
Sky Sports will broadcast a double header live from the Eagles Community Arena on December 3 to kick-start the coverage. Newcastle Eagles, who are the BBL’s most successful side with 25 major titles to their name, host a London Lions side who have been very busy adding to their line up in the close season in an eagerly anticipated opening night encounter in the BBL Championship. B. Braun Sheffield Sharks will tip-off against Cheshire Phoenix in the league season opener earlier in the evening. Both matches will be live on Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Main Event from 4.30pm.
It promises to be a highly exciting time for British Basketball as the road to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where 3×3 basketball will be a featured sport, draws ever closer. Vince Macaulay’s capital side were hoping to bounce back following their recent overtime loss to the Newcastle Eagles. Despite an encouraging late comeback, the Lions fell short, with the Sharks picking up the 70-61 victory.
Jay and Drew welcome a special guest, former Plymouth Raiders coach Gary Stronach! Jay catches up with Gary to see what he's been up to since he hung up his clip board 10 years ago. Hardcore BBL fans may remember that Gary gave Drew his first professional opportunity back in 2005. If not for Gary, England may not have become the foundation for Drew’s professional basketball career. Thanks to Gary for being a change agent for countless careers in the BBL! Gary also sticks around with The BBL Show team to review the final two games of the weekend.
Homecourt advantage was non-existent on the third gameday of the BBL season as in both the Newcastle Eagles vs. Leicester Riders and the Manchester Giants vs. Cheshire Phoenix games the victory went to the visiting team…leaving the taste of defeat with the Riders and Phoenix for the first time this season. Newcastle handed the Riders their first opening day loss since 2006, in a game that only saw 200 points in total, 98-102. Whilst the North-West derby between Cheshire Phoenix and Manchester Giants saw the Mancunians pick up a 92-98 victory. Newcastle now extends its lead at the top of Group 3, whilst Manchester sits in first place of Group 2.
The BBL Season is in full swing! The Newcastle Eagles and the London Lions opened the season with a bang as the Eagles upset the Lions 89/79 in overtime. Tune in as Jay and Drew analyze this matchup from top to bottom and are joined by Surrey Scorcher star shooting guard, Lovell Cook.

We celebrate as Darius is the longest serving player in the league, going into his 17 th season. He is also the BBL's most winningest player, with a total of 26 Trophies!
Daniel is a familiar voice and face, keeping BBL fans current on all the action. In addition to being one of the foremost experts of British basketball, Daniel is also a school governor, proud husband and dad.
This weekend opens with one game on the slate as Bristol and Surrey game was forfeited as Bristol had 4 players come down with COVID-19. That leaves us with a Headliner juicy matchup right out of the gate as Cup Favorite London Lions host the Newcastle Eagles.
Thanks to our listeners for having fun with us for the past several weeks. Let the games begin!
Welcome to another exciting edition of The BBL Show, with a focus on Plymouth, as we feature two BBL former Plymouth Raiders. First, BBL star and current commentator, Anthony Rowe; and New Talisman and Great Britain National Team star, Ashley Hamilton.
Anthony’s hometown is Plymouth, and he started his career as a Plymouth Raider before signing with the Leicester Riders. Given all of Anthony’s success and awards during his playing days, you would think that all he did was play basketball. That clearly is not the case. Tune in for a game that showcases Anthony’s movie knowledge…especially those in the basketball genre. There is never a dull moment on The BBL Show!
Ashley is the 2018 Trophy Final MVP. His heralded career has taken him to Spain and the USA, but his heart is always with the UK. Ashley talks about his recent signing to Plymouth and his excitement for the new era this team is embarking on.

Episode 5 is jam packed as we start the show with a special surprise! Kipper Nichols joins in a short cameo to face off with Jay. Kipper played for the University of Illinois (USA), and he is excited to start his rookie season as a Sheffield Shark.
In this episode, we recognize World Mental Health Day as we are joined by former Worcester Wolves and recent Cup Champion Kofi Joseph. This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day is “Mental Health For All,” which takes a laser focus on the unprecedented impact that the COVID-19 global health emergency is having on our individual and collective mental health.
Kofi opens up about the challenges he has overcome with his mental health over the years, and he dives deep into the concept of Imposter Syndrome. Imposter Syndrome is a false yet polarizing belief that one’s success is fraudulent or undeserved. Kofi is not alone in this experience…. but we must say, Kofi is not an imposter; he is the real deal all day!!!.
We finish the show with recently retired Great Britain National Kieran Achara as he was just named MBE. An amazing accomplishment to top off his great career as a beloved member of the Glasgow Rocks. Jay and Drew close The BBL Show congratulating Kieran on a great run!

As Mike gears up for his 12th season with the Sharks, he takes some time off the court to talk basketball with Jay and Drew…while on the court he still shows the rookies who’s the captain.
This 2016 Playoff Final MVP hails from Toronto, Canada, but Sheffield also feels like home for Mike. He loves his community and has much respect for his long-time head coach Atiba Lyon.
Mike is also an NBA analyst for Sky Sports which explains why he felt right at home on The BBL show. Listen as Mike shares his reflections on his career, and the league. In this episode, Jay and Drew chat it up with Andy and discuss his reflections on the game, his career, his predictions for the coming season, and his next chapter. (Hint: Retirement for Andy will not be a slowdown.)
