Episode #23 - Jacob Wiebe from Shelter Point

We catch up with Jacob Wiebe from Shelter Point, we caught up with him back in January here and chatted about their big win at the Canadian Whisky Awards. This time around, we chat about their sanitizer production work, what's in the works for the next few months and why they finally decided to put out a gin. Always love catching up with Jacob and talking shop; amazing craft whisky distillery.

Episode #21 - Alayne MacIsaac from Lumette!

We have a good chat this week with Alayne MacIsaac of Sheringham Distillery but more importantly Lumette! Non-Alc Distillate. We dive into the production method, why they decided to launch a new brand and product and how Lumette! is a stand-alone brand with big aspirations for the future.

We chatted to her partner and head distiller, Jason a few months ago. You can listen to that podcast here.

Review #45 - Kir Royale Off

Review #45 - Kir Royale Off

With special guest this week, my lovely wife Jillian; we tackle Kir Royales. After a comment on a post earlier this week, I decided it was a good time to do a cassis Kir Royale off featuring Odd Society Spirits, Rathjen Cellars, Okanagan Spirits and Elephant Island and mixed with Unsworth Winery Charme de Lile. Between us, we both liked completely different ends to the spectrum.

Review #44 - Schnapps

Review #44 - Schnapps

And more importantly, Elder Bros Farms Whack-a-Vole Schnapps; now usually I don't do a single distillery tasting as I like to get a spread but from my knowledge, these are the only schnapps in the province and they are fantastic. Get away from peppermint schnapps you would have had in a shot at the club growing up, these are authentic European schnapps made by a Hungarian family in Wycliffe.

Episode #15 - Tyler Dyck of Okanagan Spirits

Episode #15 - Tyler Dyck of Okanagan Spirits

In this episode, we delve into the impact of the pandemic on the craft spirits industry in BC with Tyler Dyck, co-owner of Okanagan Spirits and the head of the Craft Distiller's Guild, the lobbyist to the government for the industry. Interesting take as many distilleries are solely making sanitizer for from line workers, but the issues before Covid-19 are still being discussed and pushed through.

Review #43 - Vodka Part 3

Delve into a few more vodkas as it does get hard to get a wider array of products on the island. I dove a little deeper into my understanding of craft vodka as well. Featuring Viking Vodka, Mad Lab, One Foot Crow, Okanagan Spirits and Shelter Point.

Review #42 - Whisky Part 3

With quarantine shrinking the stocks in the local liquor stores and some out of the way distilleries not shipping everywhere quite yet, I have had a hard time building out the big episodes every week. This week I tackled brand new whiskies from Odd Society, Liberty Distilleries and DeVine Spirits. Great selection of things I have never tasted, love the anticipation.

Review #40 - Whisky Liqueurs

Review #40 - Whisky Liqueurs

Absolutely love whisky liqueurs like Drambuie (if you watch the episode, you will see my outburst LOL) and with whisky becoming bigger in the province, great whisky liqueurs were bound to happen. Tasted through the Dubh Glas Sage Advice, Shelter Point Barrel of Sunshine (again), Central City's Peeled and the new kid on the block, Mainland Whisky Wild Rose.
