Paralympic Profiles - Bo Hedges (Wheelchair Basketball)
Wheelchair Basketball Canada and BC Wheelchair Basketball star Bo Hedges is the next Paralympian to join us on the BC Wheelchair Sports Show. The soon to-be 4x Paralympian has had an incredibly successful and dynamic career.
An established leader and veteran presence on the Canadian Senior Men's National Team, Bo's hoping to add another medal to his collection in Tokyo!
Paralympic Profiles: Austin Smeenk (Wheelchair Racing)
In the first part of our two-part collaboration with Cruisers Sports, Paralympic Wheelchair Racer Austin Smeenk joins Nate to talk about Wheelchair Racing, the Paralympic Games and what it means to be a role model for the next generation of young athletes.
Austin is one of three Wheelchair Racers set to represent Canada in Tokyo and is hoping to be a medal contender in the T34 class! He's hoping to build upon his Paralympic debut in Rio and set a great example for up-and-coming athletes.

Trevor Hirschfield is one of the world's top wheelchair rugby players. The Parksville, BC native is a 2x World Championship All-Star and is heading to Tokyo as a co-captain of the Canadian Wheelchair Rugby Team. On today's Paralympic Profile, Trevor takes us through his experience at each of his previous Paralympic Games (2008, 2012, 2016) and insight into what he's looking forward to in Rio and why fans shouldn't sleep on the 5th ranked Canadians in what promises to be an exciting and unpredictable Wheelchair Rugby competition!

The Tokyo 202One Paralympic Games are fast approaching and we thought it would be nice to profile some Canadian athletes competing in Wheelchair Sports ahead of the Games.
First up, get to know Wheelchair Tennis at Tennis Canada and Ontario Para Network athlete Rob Shaw! The 31-year-old from North Bay, Ontario is a Parapan Am Gold Medalist who's making his Paralympic debut in Tokyo!
You can cheer on Rob and the rest of the Canadian Paralympic Team from August 24-September 5th.

2021 marks the 50th anniversary of BCWSA and as part our plans to commentate this incredible milestone, we’re excited to announce a new project that will delve into the history of Wheelchair Sports in BC.
We’re diving into the archives and pulling out the old address book to bring you stories about the key moments, incredible figures and historic events that have shaped BC Wheelchair Sports into the organization that is today!
Our goal is to shine a light on many of the parasport stories you’ve never heard of and bring new attention to those that you may have forgotten. From successful teams, and record-breaking performances to entertaining anecdotes from behind-the-scenes at major events and info on the origins of long-lasting programs like Bridging the Gap and Junior Sport Camp, we're covering it all!

It's National Indigenous Peoples Day and we've got a special episode of the BC Wheelchair Sports Show for you featuring 5x Paralympian in Wheelchair Basketball, 3x Gold Medalist and Indigenous Bridging the Gap Program Ambassador Richard Peter, who made history when he represented Canada and Cowichan Tribes at the 1996 Paralympic Games!

The BC Wheelchair Sports Show Episode 12: Wheelchair Rugby With Joel Ewert (June 16)
On today's episode of the BC Wheelchair Sports, Nate's joined by Joel Ewert, a member of the BC Wheelchair Rugby Team and an athlete who has progressed through BCWSA and BCWBS Junior Programs to become a high-performance athlete. Joel's also a pre-med student at the University of Northern British Columbia and balances his time between hitting the books and hitting chairs.
