Woman, ROAR! The Forward Female Co-Founders Lauren Cheek and Priscilla Presley

Lauren Cheek and Priscilla Presley say research shows you have ninety-five percent more chance of success if you are accountable to someone other than just yourself. With that in mind, these two women created The Forward Female. This new co-working space in the Downtown L.A. Arts District offers members monthly check-ins to help keep projects on track.

At college, Priscilla won two Lone Star EMMYs and went on to work as a producer at Extra and as part of the marketing team at Bumble. Lauren met Priscilla at Bumble while producing social media content for the company. Her creative agency had other big-name clients like Amazon, Audemars Piguet, and Rebook.

Bev is a mission-driven #breaktheglass beverage company that has risen in a real phoenix from the ashes story. 

Alix got sick, really sick. Collapsing in agony, suffering an ovarian torsion, which is a severe medical condition where the ovary twists and cuts off the blood flow, Alix was in and out of surgeries that left her with a huge debt. Bev grew out of a risky plan to pay off that debt.

Now, Alix is on track to build a beverage company with a focus on empowering women.

Brooke moved to Los Angeles with a holding deal from Fox. However, the show never went ahead, and she found herself out of work in search of other television news opportunities.

A small-town girl from Muskogee, Oklahoma Brooke grew up living with her grandparents after her mother needed to move out of state for work. Brooke said her mother is a role model who taught her that handwork and persistence pay off.

Before arriving in Los Angeles, Brooke worked all over the country. Working as co-anchor of CBS 3's Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon in Philadelphia before moving to Dallas to be part of the nationally syndicated entertainment news show Eye Opener. She has also worked in Tennesse and Texas.

Passion found a purpose for Claire Salvo, as she reached for a pen and began to sketch the face of the man who raped her. Salvo was 17 at the time of her attack. Her parents took her to the local police station immediately, but it would be ten years before she ever saw that face again.

Salvo is a survivor of sexual assault. A former DJ living in New York, the now Venice-based artist, shares the stories of nine survivors of sexual assault in her latest portrait series, ME:WE.
