After we had a super niche video pop off on our YouTube channel, we got to thinking about how following a 1/10 video can lead you into making niche videos you never intended to be in in the first place. This led us to our assumptions on why people might be quitting YouTube, a theory which also seemed from our dread of making video podcasts.

We also break down the blessing and curse that is having a joint YouTube channel where one person is a full time creator and the other has a 'normal' day job."

Introducing our new campsite build series, Sleepy Creek! We're discussing the developments on the land we've purchased (spoiler alert: we're building a campsite). We received some playful criticism for sharing a video about clearing our land, and it turns out the "brush hog" vlog became a meme in our relationship. Chris and I delve into how the Sleepy Creek series will differ from The Home Reno series and why we've chosen to present this one in a vlog style rather than a polished show.

As a creator looking out, everyone seems to have their shit together. We reached out to find out what you would like us to discuss, and this question came up: 'Can you talk about burnout and the creative process, the failures behind the scenes that no one sees?' It just so happens that we recently experienced a major fail behind the scenes during our first-ever overland trip. We break down what happened and why in this episode. Becki also discusses what feels like a personal failure in her relationship with photography.

We're recording from a 2-day lake-effect snowstorm, which looks CRAZY on Foreflight! Looking at the storm on radar brings us to today's podcast topic: what’s going on with the Millennial Falcon? Well… we got quite the jarring photo from Robinson of the current state of our bird, so let’s discuss.

Chris answers the question, “why overhaul instead of buying new?” He breaks down helicopter economics and how the overhaul is more like a back-to-studs home renovation than getting your car's oil changed. He reflects on his “pipe dream” of owning and flying helicopters, breaks down why we went to Robinson for the overhaul, and talks about how we ended up with the unicorn aircraft from a hog hunting outfit in Texas.

In today’s episode of the podcast we discuss when can you call yourself a “professional” in your field, and question who decided when “professional” gets put in front of a job title anyway?

A chat about imposter syndrome pops up when Becki talks about being called a “Professional photographer” for the first time. We do a round of Open Mic, and we find out what accessories Chris would come with if he was an action figure!

After watching some of our older videos we got inspired to discuss if it’s possible to grow a YouTube channel with just vlogs. We talk about the pros and cons of transitioning into vlogs on an established niche YouTube channel. We date ourselves as we talk about the olden days when Chris made his BMX videos on VHS tapes and sold them out of his backpack, but also chat about the challenges of making content during a time with no YouTube and no royalty free music platforms.

We answer the question “when you start making videos, should you copy someone else or figure out your own style right away?” AND we bring in our new segment Open Mic!

We took a quick trip to the Catskills to get away for memorial day weekend for the first time in over a year! We share some stories from that trip including our off airport landing experience. Chris talks about cold calling someone to ask if he could buy their island, Becki explains how women pee in the woods, and what happens when you’re busting to go mid flight in the helicopter.

A few weeks ago we posted a documentary on our main YouTube channel about an accident Chris had at work with a needle possibly contaminated with HIV. In today’s podcast were talking about the process behind creating that film, and we answer your questions about medication, health care, and how we both dealt emotionally with the HIV scare on top of dealing with the pandemic.  

Today we’re talking about the differences between living in Buffalo, New York and St. John’s Newfoundland. Chris talks about how he loves 4 discrete seasons (not to be confused with the discreet massage service from Episode 15). Becki shares her first impressions of Buffalo, spoiler, they weren’t good. We compare landscapes, food, and the cultural aspects of both places. Later we do a round of "That’s Friggin’ Deadly" where we share something we love about Buffalo, and something we love and miss from St. John’s.

Happy New Year! In today’s episode of Tuxedo Time we sip on Shirley Temples while talking about birthdays, going to mars, the vaccine, and bacteria. Then we deep dive on the importance of goal setting and how we both go about that process and set ourselves up to meet those goals. We share stories about our failed businesses of the past, including the shoe company that never came to fruition, and discuss the pivots we’ve made to get to where we are now. Chris shares his predictions on how the year will pan out with Covid; Becki shares her mental health struggles from 2020.

Welcome to the Christmas Edition of Tuxedo Time! We’re talking about our past holiday decor and how stressful Christmas used to be back in our home decor blogging days. Chris makes fun of Becki's Mummer statues which are a very off brand choice for her. We share some of our favorite holiday traditions, what Christmas movies we love and hate, and we deep dive into our gift giving policy which includes NO GIFTS EVER.   Happy Holidays from us! Today on the podcast we have a brand new podcast set up courtesy of RØDE Microphones (thanks for hooking us up RØDE)! We hit record just after the breaking news of Utah’s surprise alien monolith, so obviously we had to have a discussion on how that makes us feel. We also chat about our bathroom renovation and how many things have gotten in the way of us ACTUALLY getting work done.

Then, a discussion about the pantry makeover sparks a conversion about kitchen gadgets; which ones are gimmicks vs which ones you can’t live with out. Is an avocado slicer worth the space it takes in your drawer? Do you really need a coffee grinder if your espresso machine has one built in? Would you spend $200 on a matte black soda stream? Then we play a quick round of would you rather, monolith edition.

In today’s special episode of Tuxedo Time: Halloween Edition; we discuss all things halloween and why Chris HATES it. We wear our costumes while Chris shares his favorite halloween candy as a kid, Becki talks about why Walmart makes her uneasy and the interesting interaction she had while buying a skeleton vulture decoration last year. We also talk about the most terrifying Halloween ride that gave Becki her first ever panic attack thanks to Chris’ antics.

Over the last few episodes we’ve been asking you guys to send us questions about our relationship in the form of an audio message. Today we are answering those questions! We’re talking about time management when it comes to being in a relationship, personal goals vs goals as a couple, our similar interests, and we discuss some of the trickiest things we’ve ever had to deal with. We also answer the age old question “when are you having kids?” PLUS we share the story on how we met.

We also spill a slightly inappropriate story from our past which pretty much sums up our relationship. If you are listening with kids, you might want to finish the end portion of the podcast alone later.

We chat through some of the complicating factors of starting a joint channel and why sharing an account probably won’t work out. We talk MONEY and how we handle our bank accounts, AND what each of our channels would look like if we both had our own separate accounts.

Today on Tuxedo Time we’re talking about cooking during quarantine, how much a usable MacPro REALLY costs, and the stress you don’t see behind the scenes when creating videos, especially when computer problems get in the way of deadlines.

Becki tells the story of how UPS lost her MacPro during a deadline where every piece of technology failed. We also compared performance between the 2019 MacPro, the 2019 iMac Pro, and the Razer Blade 15 to see which rendered our project faster!
