ep89: why we hate the word "coach" [with becky anderson]
My lovely friend Becky and I discuss why we don't like calling ourselves "coaches"...

ep88: "other" people
How often do you think about other people? ...
...Whether it's what they're thinking about you, or what made them how they are...
What if you are other people? What if your perception of others is actually made of the same thing as the perception you have of yourself?
We explore this concept multiple ways in this episode.
ep87: when dance isn't dance
Recent realizations I've had about what dance really is, and the dance industry, and kind of everything else, as I've learned about immersing more into feminine energy and balancing it with the masculine.

ep84: "who do you think you are?"... the course! [with alex linares]
I'm so excited to have Alex on for another episode.
In this episode, we discuss our upcoming course, centered around inquiring into this simple question, "who do I think I am?" ... which often has answers that reveal the layers of belief that we walk around with.
Our identities and self-concepts are often so deep and unquestioned that they run our lives without us even noticing.
By inquiring into these layers of belief, we can allow limitations to fall away, enabling us to live life in a freer, softer, simpler way.

ep83: there's no "happy"

ep82: i'm pooped but my mind says i shouldn't be
REST IS PRODUCTIVE. Our minds often don't think so, though. What's with that?!

ep81: there's only discomfort
An insight I had recently about how we're either feeling discomfort of the present, or the discomfort of trying to get out of it.
And what if the reliable presence of that thing we call "discomfort" is ... actually comforting?
ep80: you don't need to believe in yourself
If you think your problem is not believing in yourself enough, maybe just let that one go.
You can do things, successfully, without believing you can. Contrary to the manifesting/self-help manifesto.
Don't let a lack of confidence, or a "low-vibration" feeling, stop you from getting started.
Belief in yourself just makes the process a lot more fun. But it's not a requirement.
ep79: if you DID know, what would it be?
Do you catch yourself saying, "I don't know" when you really do know, but you're afraid of admitting it because you think it sounds immature, unwise, petty, or shameful?
Do you not admit what you want, even to yourself, because you're afraid of the disappointment of not getting it?
We do this a lot. And minds can be sneaky about it.
ep78: "who do you think you are?" [with alex linares]
"Who do you think you are?" is a question that gets thrown around, rhetorically, as an insult.
But when we genuinely ask it, it has the potential to shake our entire foundation, enabling us to experience fluidity and freedom beyond our habitual self-concepts.
ep77: sharing your stuff is scary, but worth it! [with becky anderson]
I'm honored to have my friend and colleague, Becky Anderson, on the podcast!
Becky is great at noticing and articulating the nuances of how the mind works and how it can make us feel stuck. This makes her a great coach, because so much freedom comes from just getting that high level view of the little innocent games and computations that our minds are making all the time, in a smart-but-not-wise effort to keep us safe.
She opens up in this episode about what it’s been like to put her work out there, and also what she’s been seeing about emotion and the way that our minds tell stories about what we’re feeling, and how that is and isn’t helpful.

ep76: i'm not brave
People sometimes call me brave, but that is NOT how I see it. I'm scared sh*tless most of the time.
I do things while terrified because I like gathering evidence that my mind is a silly little liar.

ep75: caffeinated in prague [mini-sode]
For this bonus minisode, I'm releasing an unfiltered voice note that I recorded while I was walking in Prague, thinking about a common question.
The question is essentially: do we have control of our thoughts?
ep74: "shift happens" with dave fry
Dave Fry has moved past something that people don’t usually move past… an intense, 17-year struggle with major depression, anxiety, and bipolar… lots of diagnoses and medications… until… he stumbled on an understanding of life that completely changed all that. He now helps people through similar struggles. As you’ll see in this interview, Dave is caring, hilarious, and a brilliant coach.

ep73: what's "good?"
What does "good enough" mean?
Where's the line? Is there one? If so, who drew it? Was it you?
If you're not putting yourself, or your art, out there, because you're afraid of not being good enough, this episode is for you.
ep72: action without agenda is more fun
In this episode, I talk about my recent insights around dance, which led to more insights about our actions in general. What if we can just do things, because we're doing things, and the meaning that our mind innocently puts behind it is less true than we've been believing?
ep71: creativity f.a.q.
In this episode I discuss four concerns that a lot of people have when they are leaning into their creative urges...
#1: "I should improve my technique before I create my own stuff."
#2: "I don't know what to create."
#3: "I'm just not a creative person."
#4: "I don't have time."

ep70: wtf is going on?
ep69: this changes everything
What if we could truly see that there is nothing to fear in any feeling? It would change everything. There would be no need to cope using our unwanted habits and addictions. There would be no anxiety. There would be no "stuckness."
When we truly look into our feelings, and see that every single one is safe, and that the story we have in our minds has nothing to do with the feeling itself, everything changes.
ep68: anger! (grrr)
Let's talk about anger.
We're conditioned to be afraid of feeling angry. But no harm can come from feeling a feeling. It's the resistance and bottling and "I want this feeling to go away, therefore he/she/'the situation' needs to change" that gets us into ickiness. And even "ickiness" is defined by a mind.
ep67: before you call yourself a "sugar addict"... consider this
ep66: persistent surrender
My yoga philosophy teacher mentioned something that he called "persistent serenity" and these were my insights that came from it.
ep65: my beef with Carl
I don't actually have beef with Carl Rogers. I just remember a time when the following quote of his really pissed me off:
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change."
Now I get the quote. Here's me rambling about what changed, and how.
ep64: losing weight won't make you feel "more like yourself"
I hear this phrase from people who want to lose weight: "I just don't feel like myself at this weight. I want to feel like myself again."
In this episode, we explore how losing weight can't make you feel more like yourself, because you are not your body. You can't not be yourself. It only feels that way when our mind is busy and judgemental.
ep63: you don't have to willpower your thoughts away
If you're stuck trying to will your way into new ways of doing things, or if you're fighting your habit urges or thought patterns, this episode is for you!
Your state of mind changes like the weather changes: completely on its own.
ep62: [life update] I'm taking a break from LA!
In this episode, I talk about a recent personal decision to leave Los Angeles temporarily or permanently. I also talk about decisions in general, and why I love trusting where life wants to lead us.
