115 - The Leap. The Podcast. My Story. Your Journey.
After several inquires on Instagram about my business, my entrepreneurial journey, my story and the podcast, I decided to share my very first episode. I want to share those with new and early stage entrepreneurs as well as side hustlers wanting to make that side hustle a main thing so you can grow your business in a wise and strategic way.

On today’s episode, I am talking about summer. Summer is a special season for me. I want to share with you it’s significance for me and the entrepreneurial steps I have taken to get to where I am today.
Takeaways from 17 years of full-time entrepreneurship:
Keep your business a side hustle for as long as possible, but know in order to grow you will have to take the leap.
Don't over hire. Use virtual assistants or freelancers as long as possible. This will help you better manage expenses.
Use summers to strategically plan.
Living and learning is a must in entrepreneurship.
Establish core values and stick with your core competency

105 - Is the Private Sector the Answer to Gun Violence?
On this episode I just needed to vent...to speak my peace around the tragic and senseless killing of America's children. Also let's not forget just a few days prior to the tragedy in Texas, 10 people were killed while grocery shopping in Buffalo, NY. When is this insanity going to stop??? I think entrepreneurs and the private sector is the answer. Take a listen. What do you think? Can we entrepreneurs make a difference?

83 - THROWBACK - 2 Business Must Haves
In this episode I am sharing with you a throwback from some of the early days of the Stitched for Success podcast. On this episode I am speaking with Jennifer Grayer, former owner of Lollibop Sweet Shop. Jennifer decided to close her business after five years, and though I was personally heartbroken to no longer be able to get her delicious sweet treats, she was generous enough to share with us many of her lessons learned during the process. Regardless of the phase you’re in currently in your business, these are lessons that we can all learn from as we continue on our own entrepreneurial journeys.

81 - Entrepreneurs...Embrace the Struggle
On this episode I share with you my takeaways from episode 80 with Gian-Carlo Torres and also share with you my new recent struggles as I venture into a new business that required me to build a funnel and host a challenge. 80 - Determination to Solve His Mom’s Health Issue Leads Young Entrepreneur to a 7-figure Business
On this episode I am speaking with Gian-Carlo Torres of Immunocal. Starting to work with Immunotec, a multi-level marketing company, at the age of 19 with just a high school degree and no business experience, Gian-Carlo has since grown his business to over 7 figures. This journey all began when his mother was diagnosed with an illness and in his research, someone told them about a nutrient that changed her life (Immunical).
Through self-education and a wiliness to fail forward, Gianco (what his friend's call him) is learning to grow his business and help other's build their own enterprises as well.

78 - Hustle Less...Earn & Grow Even More!!!
Helping take entrepreneurs and ambitious leaders from stress and anxiety to flow, Bethany Clemenson of Big Life Resources joins me as a guest on this episode. Bethany was pressurized as she pursued all of the dreams and goals of her corporate career and the material things...earning the promotions, getting the house and having the kids and a dog. She let it all go...selling her home and traveling the country for almost a year with her family.
Often sitting with individuals at the end of their lives she never heard them talk about the cars they owned or the house they lived in. They more often than not would talk about the experiences they wish they would have shared with loved ones or things they should have tried. This has lead Bethany to help others leave this earth with an empty bucket through her business and The Empty Bucket Club on Clubhouse.

69: Can these 7 Takeaways help you grow to 7-figures?
On this episode, I share with you my takeaways from Terran and Quinton Lewis who I spoke with on episode 67. Their interview was full of so much helpful information that I wanted to share with you the areas which resonated with me and that I feel can help you as you grow and scale your business.
Terran and Quinton are co-founders of Herb’N Eden, a holistic skincare company that specializes in handmade soap bars. Starting the company in 2015 after dropping out of college, the unprecedented and tragic events of 2020 helped propel their company to heights they had never imagined were possible, and they closed the year with seven figure revenues.

68 - A Day in the Life: My Unexpected Flow
On today's episode I share with you a day in my entrepreneurial life from this week. When I originally began brainstorming ideas for this podcast one thought was to share the good, the bad, and the ugly of an entrepreneur's life. I thought about calling it Notes from a Small Business Owner's Desk, but I thought that was a little wordy and I did not want to box myself in. I wanted to share other entrepreneurs' stories and other business insights.
Takeaways:
Problems are going to happen in business...they are inevitable.
Sometime you have to just go with the flow.
Surround yourself with other entrepreneurs who understand your struggles.
Quote: If you can't control the current of the river, then don't fight it just go with the flow. ~ Unknown

60 - Retired Navy Petty Officer Michael Dillard shares TIPS and the mindset needed to move from employee to entrepreneur
A retired Navy Submarine Chief Petty Officer, Michael Dillard is a side hustling entrepreneur balancing his 9 to 5 with 4 businesses. An office incident moved Michael out of his employee mentality when he realized that it was up to him to take care of his family because there was truly no such thing as job security.
In 1994 Michael Dillard found himself homeless and raising his 1 year old daughter. Leaving his position in the US Navy at the age of 24 to pursue a “promised” 6-7 figure income in insurance he found himself penniless and homeless just 6 months later. He sold knives, artwork and even his own plasma to buy food for him and his daughter.
Michael's entrepreneurial mindset is one of determination and believing that he was endowed with a higher purpose. In this episode he shares with us the 3 things he has learned on his journey thus far and drops a great deal of knowledge on government contracts and partnering with your own non-profit.

59 - Successful Entrepreneurs...Do you HAVE what it takes?
On this episode I am talking about getting your mindset right before and keeping your mindset right as you journey down the entrepreneurial path. Your friends may make entrepreneurship seem glamourous and alluring, but they probably aren't telling you the whole truth. They are not telling you how they have not been able to pay themselves for a few week or how it was difficult to meet payroll for their team last week. This episode is not to scare you out of becoming a entrepreneur, but it is to share with you the bad and the ugly of being a business owner. What will you give up to be a successful entrepreneur? How many hours are you willing to work? Can you be consistent? How do you work for someone else currently? Can you persevere and remain committed when the going gets tough?
Episode Quote: I’m convinced that about half of what separates successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance. ~Steve Jobs

58 - A 6-pack MINDSET for your body, brain and bank account with Ethan King
On today's episode I am chatting with my life partner and business partner Ethan King. We have been working together for almost 20 years...married for 18. As a young adult, he was a starving artist, struggling to make ends meet while taking out the trash at a seedy Atlanta nightclub. After a scary encounter where he was robbed at gunpoint, he left his old life behind, and harnessed his talents co-founding our multiple 7-figure brands stuff4gREEKS and Zeus’ Closet where our clients have included celebrities such as Akon, and Rick Ross, as well as major enterprises like Coca-Cola, BET and Marvel Studios. For several years he was Tyler Perry’s exclusive graphic designer and last year he was named winner of the Best Self Atlanta Magazine’s Over 40 and Fabulous.

49 - The Entrepreneurial Struggle is REAL
On this episode I am discussing some of our current struggles. Having a team that is stretched thin and me trying to juggle being a wife, a mom with kids who have not been on their normal school schedule in over a year, and a business owner that has very little time to work on the business for working in it right now. As an entrepreneur I have a desire to create new businesses, this podcast, courses and more, but there is only so much time in the day so it is time to hire again. With the pandemic we are hiring with caution so I share some to of the things I have learned over the years to hire team members who operate under your company's core values and help you avoid wasting time and ultimately money.
Episode Quote: I accept uncertainty. I impact the world. I live my passions. I create. I am an entrepreneur ~ Monica Allen

48 - How IP (Intellectual Property) can impact the MONEY you make or lose
On this episode I am discussing Intellectual Property or IP. Are you licensed to use someone else's intellectual property or do you own your own or perhaps its a combination of both. Having your own IP is ideal, but how can the use of someone's IP affect your business if your contract changes or the relationship comes to a halt.
Episode Quote: Intellectual Property is a key aspect for economic development ~ Craig Venter

29 - Step-by-Step guide to setting up your business
In this episode I discuss a few of the things I wish we would have known when we started our first business. Much of the legalese that I did not understand or even know to expect at the time, I share in this episode. If you are thinking about starting a business or you just started a side hustle, I want to help you get things set up correctly from the start. I am not a lawyer, though I do recommend having a good attorney. If you can't afford one at this time, this episode will at least help you get off to the right start and put you in the fast lane to launching your business.

28 - 7 essential tips for an aspiring or new entrepreneur to avoid failure.
In this episode I share the last part of my interview with Jennifer Grayer of Lolli Bop Sweet Shop. Jennifer shares tips for aspiring and new entrepreneurs. I always ask for 1 tip or piece of advise for newish entrepreneurs from all of my interviewees, but Jennifer had several that she felt all new business owners should think about and consider as they start their business. Jennifer is taking a hiatus from entrepreneurship, but I know she will be back, and I will be excited to have her on a future episode to learn all about her new venture. National Women's Small Business Month is in October and the progress of women business owners should be celebrated. Listen to hear some of the wonderful statistics regarding female owned businesses.
