E28: Chilling Myths of Winter: Perchta, Perchten, and the Duality of the Solstice

In this episode, we delve into the winter solstice season, exploring its ghostly nature and the profound duality it embodies—the delicate equilibrium between darkness and light, endings and beginnings. We unravel some common themes interwoven in winter ghost stories and myths. Our focus though, is on the chilling Alpine winter spirit, Perchta, and her eerie companions, the Perchten, who add a spine-tingling dimension to the season. As we navigate the shadows of winter, our Ritual That Works invites you to reflect on the past year, acknowledging its lessons, while preparing you for the transformative journey of the new year just around the corner. Vernal Equinox, Spring Equinox, Ostara

Vernal Equinox, Spring Equinox, Ostara

This episode we’re talking about the Vernal Equniox or Spring Equinox, also known as Ostara. The Vernal Equinox falls on March 20th and is the third holiday in the witch's wheel of the year. On this day we celebrate the first day of spring. This is a time of balance, growth, and renewal. We talk about ancient monuments and goddesses that honor the spring, and cover a few ways to celebrate today. In this episode we also revisit the archetype of the witch and talk about what it means to be a witch. The ritual for this episode is one to help with balance during this celebration of equal day and night. In the episode draw we are reminded to take a pause.
