K & I speak with Alex Schelling, a Life and Relationship Coach whose moniker on Instagram is Toolboxforlove  We learned so much during our discussion with Alex. As she wisely states, "Love is important, but it's not enough." There are key components to building a happy, satisfying and rewarding relationship and there is some work that has to be done to make that happen!  We touch on best practices of communicating through tricky and touchy topics.  We discuss the common blind spots that couples and individuals encounter.  What happens when you love someone, and you are not receiving the same in return, or it's not going anywhere. We go there too! Relationships can be happy and fulfilling, but they can be nearly impossible to achieve if you keep making the same missteps over and over again. Listen in as K & I explore what needs to be your toolbox for love! There is a ton of relationship advice out there. And that's why it's even more important that we bring you practical tools, tactics, and strategies that really work. This brings me to my guests this week, Decoding Couples. Stacey Sherrell and Rachel Facio are Licensed Therapists. Bedtalks Episode 63: Should I Stay or Go? - A Discussion with Break up Coach, Natalia Juarez

Bedtalks Episode 63: Should I Stay or Go? - A Discussion with Break up Coach, Natalia Juarez

"Even with good communication, a relationship may not work." In this week's Bedtalks podcast, we speak with Break up Coach, Natalia Juarez. I like this quote because we are often told if you have good communication with someone you have a chance to make the relationship work.

Here's the truth of the matter. Even with great communication, it doesn't guarantee you and the other person in your relationship are meant to be together. K & I explore this topic with Natalia Juarez a nationally recognized Break up Coach.

We discuss the following:

-How do you know if you should stay or leave a relationship?

-How does your attachment style affect how you connect/disconnect from a relationship?

-Compatibility based dating and how this can shift the relationships you choose

-How time + action heals wounds

-The danger of the one-sided relationship

Bedtalks Episode 62: The Hard Truth About Relationships - An Interview with Antwain Jackson

Bedtalks Episode 62: The Hard Truth About Relationships - An Interview with Antwain Jackson

"Iron sharpens iron," is a commonly known phrase. But, often when the sharpening happens between two people in a relationship, inevitably one party may feel like ending or exiting the relationship. The hard truth about relationships is that when two people come together with their own individual standards, it can be difficult to learn how to bring those standards together to create a long-lasting partnership.

When a relationship is highly weighted on one individual versus the couple collectively, this imbalance can create some significant challenges in the relationship in the long term. However, when you know what is likely to happen and how you can navigate these things proactively, you can shift your perspective and learn how to embrace and work through these moments.

The hard truth about relationships is a lot of inner work has to happen in order for you to be steady in a relationship. Without doing this inner work, it's likely you will experience similar cycles following you in your other relationships. This is one of the reasons why we were excited to speak with Antwain Jackson.

Antwain Jackson is many things, a Pastor, Leader in his community, Speaker, Author of the Creative Leader Book, and someone who counsels many single and married individuals on dating, love, and relationships. His authenticity, raw honesty, and ability to say what others have shied away from saying made for an interesting conversation.

K & I thoroughly enjoyed this eye-opening conversation and we think you will too!

Please listen to this episode and if you like what you hear, subscribe to future episodes of the Bedtalks Podcast on the Anchor App, iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms where you can listen to us.

We like to hear from you too! Please share your comments and send us a message on what you think and what you'd like to hear too!

Bedtalks Episode 61: Why Do You Run from Love (or Self-Sabotage?) - An Interview with Denai Morari

Bedtalks Episode 61: Why Do You Run from Love (or Self-Sabotage?) - An Interview with Denai Morari

Hi Y'All-

We're thrilled to be talking to Danai Maraire. Danai is a well-respected couples coach. She works with everyday couples like you and me as well as celebrity clients too. Denai feels her calling to help others navigate their relationships is tied to the meaning of her name. Her name means "to love each other."

Many are running from love while trying to find it at the same time. At the same time, others tend to self-sabotage their relationships. Fear around surrendering to vulnerability, while not recognizing the possibility for love stops many from the journey to connect with another person in a meaningful way.  While a lack of trust, fear of being open, and a belief system that vulnerability is a weakness are the culprits, there are ways to flip these so that you shift your relationship trajectory. On the other side of learning how to navigate and explore these feelings are true connection and intimacy when you are in the right relationship.

Danai, myself, and K explore this during this bedtalks episode. Listen in as we explore the thing that many of us are running from is the thing that we may need the most.

Differences Don't Mean We Aren't Relatable - An Interview with Thomas C. Knox, The Connection Curator

Hey Everyone-

We're back with another podcast talking about the importance of human connection. While we have even more ways to connect with others, strangely with access to all of these avenues to connect, many of us are still left looking and craving connection.

Thomas Knox is trying to change the way you relate to others, one person at a time. Thomas is known as the "The Connection Curator." He set up a sign in the subway in NYC that stated, "Date while you wait," to get people talking to another. Through these experiences of talking to others, Thomas has learned a lot about others and realized that our differences don't mean we aren't relatable.

Thomas is leading a social initiative to get people back to talking to one another and having real face-to-face conversations. He shares his experiences, which will surprise you about what's on everyone's mind.

Managing Life's Changes - How to Make a Stylish Exit - An Interview with Nicole Richmond

Managing Life's Changes - How to Make a Stylish Exit - An Interview with Nicole Richmond

Managing Life's Changes can be difficult. Here is where Nicole Richmond of Making A Stylish Exit can help you out. Nicole has the perfect story of survival and resilience to help you think about taking that leap of faith to the next thing but are feeling stuck or in paralysis analysis.

You made it through. You are here. 2020 likely brought you some significant growth personally, spiritually, and mentally. What started as a quiet year went in a completely different direction with a pandemic, political upheaval, strong racial tensions, increased violence, and so much more. Some of you may have lost loved ones due to COVID or natural causes. Some of you may have had to carve out a new career path. Others may have found the last year to be a reboot of sorts to clarify what matters in life.

The Ups and Downs of 2020

Personally, 2020 was the highest of highs and the lowest of lows for me. I married my husband in a perfectly intimate COVID ceremony. But, I also lost one of my favorite uncles and my mother, whose imprint on my life I can’t describe as she was my best friend and closest confident. Her loss leaves a constant ache and a missing piece in my heart.

Like you, I’m taking one day at a time, trying to stay optimistic. But with a new year comes an opportunity for change, renewal, and growth. And that is a positive thing. I’m digging deeper into my spirituality, purpose and just trying to continue to figure out this thing called life.

One thing which can help you through any challenge is knowing that you are not alone and learning how someone has overcome a similar challenge. So I thought it would be motivating to kick-off the new year with a story of survival, intention, and resilience.

A Story To Help You Manage Major Life Changes

Meet Nicole Richmond of Making A Stylish Exit. You will relate to Nicole’s story if you have ever had to make a difficult decision that would dramatically change everything in your life. It’s a new year, and for many, you may be contemplating your relationships with your significant other or making a change in your life that will take you in a completely different direction. If you fear a significant change you know you need to make, I think this podcast interview will help give you the courage to forge ahead.

Please share your story of resilience in the comments and what it has meant for you, your life, family, etc.

Everyone Has A Story: An Interview with Jade Seaberry, Founder of Diversetoons

Everyone Has A Story: An Interview with Jade Seaberry, Founder of Diversetoons

Everyone has a story. Why should you tune into this podcast? There is likely a story at some point that resonated with you. It's important that there is an opportunity for your story to be told by someone who looks like you, has gone through similar experiences, and can authentically tell your story. And this is why Jade Seaberry's company, Diversetoons, is so important for everyone. Diversetoons gives voices to animators who come from diverse backgrounds to mirror the world as we know it, so the stories created about people of color are authentic, honest, and real. Jade has made it her mission to help diversify the animators and storytellers, capturing the images, voices, and real-life mannerisms so that you see a reflection of you in animated stories. She understands that much like the world we live in, storytellers and creatives should represent the voices they are presenting to the world. Listen in to this podcast to learn more about Diversetoons, a novel company, and a brave woman who shows that while barriers do exist, you can help to break them down to change the narrative. Until next time, XoXo. Please remember to subscribe to future episodes of the Bedtalks Podcast on the Anchor App, iTunes, Google Podcasts, and Spotify.
