On this special episode, we discuss Easter, the resurrection, and the top ten Easter candies. Was Jesus Lord, lunatic, or a liar? He can only be one. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S5E17 (The Eclipse, and then the end will come.)
Behind The Micah S5E16 (Judge Not)
So often, we hear the term, "Judge Not," in our world. But what does that mean? Who is that for? Are we to judge? What does the Bible say? Check it out!
Behind The Micah S5E15 (The Sinner's Prayer Saves)
Have you ever heard of the sinner's prayer? Many churches teach this idea of saying the sinner's prayer and you will be saved, however, is it what the Bible teaches? Today, Jason and Micah discuss the sinner's prayer and what the Bible teaches that one must do to be saved. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S5E14 (Cleanliness is Next To Godliness)
Does the Bible say that cleanliness is next to godliness? This is a commonly used phrase, and if it is used in the Bible, what does it mean? Today, Jason and Micah hop on the podcast to discuss. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S5E13 (Good People Go To Heaven)
Do good people go to Heaven? There is this idea, out there, that says if you are good enough, you can get enough gold stars to get you there. But does this idea match up with what the Bible says? Today, we dive into this false belief. Good or God?
Behind The Micah S5E12 (My Body, My Choice)
For the past 50 years, culture has said...."My Body, My Choice." In fact, recently, we have heard the phrase more often than not. But what does the Bible say? Is it really my body my choice? How far does that extend for the Christian? Speaking of choices, we discuss facial hair and how Jason has chosen to grow his out! Thanks for listening.
Behind The Micah S5E11 (God Will Never Give You More Than You Can Handle)
Does God give us more than we can handle? On today's episode, we search the scriptures to see what the Bible really says. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S5E10 (God Helps Those Who Help Themselves)
How should we help others? Does God really only help those who have earned it? Today's talk includes helping people and the idea of life being a musical. Thanks for checking in!
Behind The Micah S5E9 (Forgive and Forget)
Behind The Micah S5E8 (Hate Your Enemies)
The world tells us to repay our enemies and hate them. But Jesus said something entirely different in the sermon on the mount. He said that we are to love our enemies. How do we love those who hurt us? Maybe the first step is understanding who we are in connection to Jesus, realizing that we were once enemies of Him. How often do you spend time praying for them? This is a topic that is simple to understand, but hard to apply. As always, thanks for listening.
Behind The Micah S5E7 (The Bible Will One Day Become Irrelevant)
Some see the Bible as outdated and out of touch. So, we assume that it's pro-slavery and anti-women and etc. It's not any of those things. Some see the Bible as a good book, but think that the authors had an agenda or that it is just simply, not relevant anymore. So we kind of look at the Bible as we would a book on parenting from the 1950's. But could it be that the key to understanding the relevancy of the Bible, really hinges on how reliant the Bible is? The Bible is relevant because it's true. It's not true because it's relevant. "The word of the Lord stands forever."
Behind The Micah S5E6 (Stay Isolated From The World)
Behind The Micah S5E5 (Once Saved, Always Saved)
On today's episode, we discuss the idea of "once saved, always saved." Is this idea biblical? Can a person "walk away?" We also discuss the idea of sin and assurance. Jason and Micah also talk about their least favorite and most underrated Thanksgiving foods. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S5E4 (Believe What You Want, Just As Long As You're Sincere)
On today's episode, we discuss the idea of, "You do you, and I'll do me, and we will arrive at the same place." Do all roads lead to the same place? Just because a building has the word "church" on it, does it mean that we all believe the same? What if my family taught me something different than what the Bible says? Are there multiple ways to God? Could it be that God is exclusive and inclusive at the same time? We discuss all of this on the podcast. Plus, we talk about persimmons, revivals, and root canals. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S5E3 (You Get What You Deserve)
Behind The Micah S5E2 (Do What Makes You Happy)
We live in a world that says, "Do what makes you happy." But is God's goal for us to be happy? Are holiness and happiness at war with each other? Maybe the way to understanding happiness is to understand what holiness is. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S5E1 Bible Myths (Bad Days)
As we kick off this new season, we plan to tackle believed myths that the Bible doesn't say. Today's question....Do Christians have bad days? There is a myth out there that says that once you become a Christian, your life gets easier. However, could it be that there is purpose in our pain? And what is the difference between in this world and in Christ? Check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E28
As we wrap up season four, Jason and Micah give a recap of the book of Acts. Why are there denominations in the church? How much should we talk about the Holy Spirit? Does the Bible contradict itself? How should we view this book of the Bible? Should we go by anything other than Christians? Plus, lots of other discussion. Thanks for tuning in!
Behind The Micah S4E27
As we wrap up the final chapter in Acts, we recognize that this book was never about Paul or Peter, but rather about the Gospel. It's about Jesus. It's about the Holy Spirit living in us and moving through us to change the world around us. So while Paul is buried in the ground, the message is still moving. Imagine if we embraced the platform that God has given us. Boldly taking the Gospel to everyone we locked eyes with. There is no plan B. It will not fail and it cannot be stopped. No matter the stones, the storms, or the snake bites. God's story is unhindered. We also discuss Labor Day and why you shouldn't leave your keys in your car while pumping gas. Only one more episode left in this season. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E26
On this episode, Jason and Micah discuss a literal storm that occurs with Paul on a ship. While this idea of Paul as a prisoner seems like it will never come to a conclusion, he continues on with a calmness. Even while his ship wrecks, Paul knows that God is in control. There is so much growth that occurs in Paul's life from when he first comes to Christ in chapter 9, to now in chapter 27. Which begs the question.....have you grown spiritually from when you first became a Christian? Are you still growing? Why or why not? We also discuss swimming in dark waters and fasting. Hope you'll tune in. Thank you guys!
Behind The Micah S4E25
On today's podcast, Jason and Micah cover chapters 25 & 26. Paul is still on trial. While Paul is pleading for his life, he also is preaching the gospel. He is very strategic on getting that message out. Which begs the question, do you or your church have a plan to connect people to Jesus? While some things work better than others in different places, you should have a plan. One thing that we see in these chapters are two different responses to the gospel. Who are you "persuading"? We also discuss masculinity and Bob Barker. Thanks for listening.
Behind The Micah S4E24
In chapter 24, Paul stands before Governor Felix. After both sides plead their case, Felix decides that he will not come to a conclusion. In the meantime, Paul is placed in prison until a decision is made. It just so happens to last over two years long. Which begs the question......when going through storms in life, where do you turn? Maybe a more important question is..... what do you live for? Most people in life, while going through trials, either run toward God or far away from Him. Who you live for could be the key to where you run. We also discuss a recap of Hillsboro Family Camp, the largest Christmas store in the world, and what actor would make the best Paul. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E23
On the podcast today, we wrestle with Acts 23. What we find is that God was overseeing everything that was taking place in Paul's life. He was watching over him. Can we still say the same thing in 2023? Does God still move on our behalf? We also discuss Hillsboro Family Camp 23' and Daddy-Daughter dances at weddings. Hope you'll tune in!
Behind The Micah S4E22
Today on the podcast, Jason and Micah tackle Acts 22. How important is your testimony? Paul seems to use his testimony for expanding the gospel. It wasn't about Paul, it was about what Jesus did through Paul. Could sharing the gospel be that simple? We also discuss the time of salvation, patriotism and Christianity, and whether or not it's ok to shoot fireworks off after July 4. Hope you'll check it out! Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E21
Today, Jason and Micah discuss Acts 21. In this chapter, we see Paul not listening to the heeding of the Holy Spirit. He was prompted not to go into Jerusalem and yet, in order to share the gospel, he goes anyway. We find that Paul gets arrested, and we are left on a cliff before reading chapter 22. This begs the question, was Paul wrong and defying God? We discuss this today, as well as, bird calling and Christian Financial Resources. We are still taking stories of things you have hit with your car. Let us know your story. The best story will get a CFR swag bag. Check it out! Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E20
Behind The Micah S4E19
Today we look at Acts 19. We see Paul explain what Christian baptism is. Is there more than one baptism? As Paul is in Ephesus, he does many miraculous things in order to share the gospel. It even leads to some burning their own things that hinder them from the truth. And, of course, we see opposition amongst the people in Ephesus. How should we respond to those in opposition? Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E18
On this week's episode, Jason and Micah make their way through Acts 18. How do you deal with those who don't want to hear what you have to say? We are introduced to a power couple in Aquila and Priscilla. They are fellow believers who really enhance Paul's ministry. They deal specifically with a godly man by the name of Apollos. While Apollos is an "eloquent" man, he was confused on what Christian baptism was. Aquila and Priscilla correct him in a way that helps him to understand. Should we stand up for what we believe in? Is there a right or wrong way to do that? And best of all, we see people giving their lives to Jesus in this chapter. We also discuss pools and hot tubs. Which team are you? Pool or Hot tub? Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E17
Today on the podcast, Covey Wise, joins us from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to discuss Acts 17. We find Paul dealing with more persecution, yet he continues to press on. We see that Paul looked around and was "greatly distressed" with what he saw. In 2023, we can do the same thing. However, he didn't run away. He didn't push others farther away. Paul knew that from a distance, you will never help people who are far from God get closer to God. So the question is, are you spending time up close with people who are far from God? Hope you'll check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E16
Today, Jason and Micah discuss Acts 16. In this chapter, we are introduced to the first European convert, Paul and Silas thrown in jail, and a jailer give his life to the Lord. We also see obedience, urgency, and evangelism at its finest. Are we looking for every opportunity to share the gospel? The good news is, we aren't alone. We also discuss Mother's Day, bath bombs, and feet. Thanks for checking it out!
Behind The Micah S4E15
Today, Micah discusses Acts 15. Have you ever made it difficult for people who are outside of Christ to begin a relationship with Him? We see in this chapter that the Jews were making it difficult for the Gentiles to come to a relationship with Jesus. Mainly through circumcision. We found in this chapter, that God is more concerned about pursuing outsiders than comforting insiders. Not because outsiders are more important, but rather because they're just more urgent. We also discuss good dog names and Blackstone grills. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E14
On today's episode, Jason and Micah dig into Acts 14, where we see people causing problems and stirring up division. Paul and Barnabas receive praise and persecution throughout this chapter. But throughout all of this, Paul's perseverance is commendable. While sometimes it might be easy for us to throw in the towel, Paul pushes forward, and encourages the others to do the same. We discuss examples of a leader, Jason and Micah's revival recaps, and Pittsburgh cheesesteaks. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E13
In Acts 13, we are introduced to a couple of false teachers. How should we deal with false teaching in our churches? And how should we respond to those who are unteachable? This chapter is jam-packed with stuff to apply to our lives. We also discuss camping and filleting fish. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E12
Today, we take a short intermission from the book of Acts, and discuss visions and goals. How do we reach them? Maybe the more important question is the "why". Senior staff accountant from Ramsey Solutions, Brytton Rogers, hops on today to talk about how a vision, without a mission behind it, is really just an idea. No matter what age you are, we all have a purpose and goal in life. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E11
In Acts 11-12, we see persecution still going strong. Through arrests and even murder, the church lived in scary times. Yet, while those events were taking place, God showed that He was still in control. What area of your life do you need to be reminded that God is in control? In this episode, we discuss all of this, plus we talk about Easter eggs, toys or candy, and coffee makers. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E10
Is Jesus for everyone? In Acts 10, we are introduced to a man by the name of Cornelius. Cornelius loved God, but was not Jewish. If you will look closely, you will see who the message of the Gospel is for. We also briefly discuss the shooting in Nashville, and Jason gets a new dog! As always, thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E9
Some significant events take place in Acts 9. Saul is on his way to continue persecuting christians, when he encounters Jesus. While this is one of the most significant events, we can't forget guys like Ananias and Barnabas. They play a role that doesn't give them much credit, but is so influential. Which begs the question.....what if we didn't care who got the credit in the church? And maybe, just maybe, that person that you never thought could change, has the possibility of becoming a difference maker in this world. We also discuss Hibachi and Blackstone grills. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S4E8
In Acts 8, we zoom in on a guy by the name of Philip, who continues to share the gospel with the world. Specifically, a man who has questions, and what we see is that he starts with just a simple question. It leads to this man giving his life to Jesus. Maybe we have those same opportunities in 2023, but do we take advantage of those opportunities? We also meet Simon the Sorcerer, and see Saul continue ravaging the church. Check out this episode from chapter 8!
Behind The Micah S4E7
In Acts 7, we see a man named Stephen die for what he believed in. However, the church didn't crumble because of it. What we actually see, is that the church scattered and exploded! The question asked is simply this....what would you do for your faith? We also discuss March Madness and time change. Thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E6
Acts 6 discusses issues that were rising up in the church. Today, Jason and Micah discuss how to handle those issues. Also, how well do you encourage others? Do you build others up or tear others down? There are lots of principles that we can pull from Acts 6. Also, we discuss leap year and how you celebrate your birthday if you are born on February 29. As always.....thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E5
In Acts 5, we are introduced to a couple who had bad motives when it came to their giving. They were killed because of it. However, as a result, the church grew. How can we, in 2023, learn about church growth through this? Jason and Micah also discuss what true revival is in light of Asbury University, cowboy hats, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. As always, thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E4
Today, we continue our study of the book of Acts. As we look at chapter four, we see Peter and John up against the first small batch of persecution. While these "ordinary" men could have very easily ran away quietly, they stood boldly and with courage, and because of that, one could tell that they had been with Jesus. What an amazing compliment! Are we bold and courageous? Can people see Jesus in us? And do they know that there is only one name by which we must be saved? All of this on the podcast today, plus some Valentine's Day talk. As always, thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E3
As Jason and Micah continue to tackle the book of Acts, today we come to chapter 3. What does it look like to help someone in need? Do we just throw money at those people? Or is there something much greater to give? One thing is for sure, when we get people to Jesus, good things happen. On today's episode, we talk coffee and hotel room policies. PSA.....always check your comforter in the hotel room! Thanks for tuning in!
Behind The Micah S4E2
Today, Jason and Micah discuss the beginning of the church. In Acts 2, we see things like, speaking in tongues, baptism, repentance, and community. When do you receive the Holy Spirit? When do you receive the forgiveness of sins? We also talk about how to respond when you're windshield is covered in ice. As always we thank you for listening!
Behind The Micah S4E1
Today, we start season 4 of Behind The Micah. We are walking our way through the book of Acts. In this episode, we discuss the difference between an apostle and a disciple, and do apostles still exist? We also cover voting in the church, and whether or not, Micah should wear bib overalls to preach in for Bluegrass Sunday. Hope that you will tune in!
Behind The Micah S3E19 New Year's Edition
As we approach a new year, we always seem to get excited about starting new resolutions. The question is, do they work? And if they don't, why not? There is a big difference between, where I am, and where I want to be. Maybe the key to a better marriage, a healthier you (physically, mentally, spiritually), fixing your finances, whatever you are trying to achieve, is knowing who you are. Your identity drives your behavior, and consistency is the key to success. We also discuss avoiding bad habits and list our own personal goals. Check out today's episode, and as always, thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S3E18 (Christmas Edition)
Should Christians celebrate Christmas? Is it ok to tell your kids about Santa Claus? Are Christmas trees a pagan tradition? Is it ok for churches to close their doors on Christmas Sunday? And so many more questions that Micah and Jason address on this special episode. Plus, Micah's adventurous Christmas tree story. Check it out! Merry Christmas and thanks for listening!
Behind The Micah S3E17
Today's episode takes Micah and Jason to South Carolina, where we discuss the earliest times to put up Christmas decorations, cat fishing, and phobias. We also discuss today's beatitude on persecution. "Smoothy" Josh Purdy jumps on to talk about the devil's attacks, and that they may just mean that you're doing the right thing. Check it out!
Behind The Micah S3E16
What does it mean to be a "peacemaker?" Jesus tells us in chapter 5, blessed are the peacemakers, and yet, just five chapters later, He says that He didn't come to bring peace but a sword. On today's episode, Cajun' preacher, Trey Mouton, jumps on the podcast to discuss gumbo, New York summers, and the National Prayer Clinic. Go be a peacemaker, for you will be called a son of God.
