Productivity Hack for Working from Home: Putting on Shoes
One thing I’ve done every single day for the past decade before I sit down to work, is put on my shoes. From that very first day I started working for myself back in July 2013, putting on my shoes each morning and walking to my “desk” has been my mental shift into it is time to make sh*t happen.
As an entrepreneur that works from home, there are so many guardrails that you must put into place to stay focused. It is so easy to get distracted by cleaning, laundry, phone calls from your mom or running errands. As someone with ADHA and dyslexia, I know the power of structure.
This simple routine of putting on my shoes each day is a signal to my brain that this is a time to work. This is my dedicated time to building my dreams and career.
Shoes are on! Let’s take on this Monday!
Teaser: New things to come for Behind the Sweat
Last weekend I attended the Powerhouse Women conference in Arizona and left a brand new person. One of my big takeaways was what do I want my personal brand to be? The answer: where wellness meets business. This is part of my authentic code. I want to be known as a wellness entreprenuer and a subject matter expert on marketing + business. Honestly, this is how I can best sum of my 17 year career so far.
As part of this, I want to be honest about everything I have learned about building a business. From the giant wins to the failures. With that, I bring you a new version of the Behind the Sweat Podcast.

Callie Vinson, ultra runner, Strava art designer
In this episode I chatted with Callie Vinson. Callie is an ultramarathon runner and advertising copywriting professional. She's originally from Orlando, graduated with her B.F.A. and M.A. in advertising from SCAD in Savannah and currently lives in Chicago, working on the creative side for an ad agency. When she's not working, she's coming up with ways to make running and training more interesting, especially without races to work towards. Lately, she's dabbled in Strava art designs as well as "mural tours" around the windy city. Currently she is crewing her friend and running buddy, Shan Riggs on a quest to run from coast to coast. We caught up while they were in Iowa. Our conversation goes deep into how we approach the challenges we are faced with including how much our bodies and minds really can take.
If you’ve ever thought about running an ultra listen in for some great advice. Make sure to connect with Callie on Instagram at @callie_fornia and follow along on her adventure with Shan at shanrunsacrossamerica.com.

Bonus episode! A moment with your host
This first season has been amazing so far! Before we continue hearing the stories from amazing athletes, I wanted to take a minute and give you the opportunity to get to know me better. This week's episode is a solo one. I'll answer the questions you've heard me ask others and a few listeners sent in.
I'll take you back to where it all started for me and share how running came into my life and where I'm running to next. Did you like that pun? :)

Amy Rivers, runner and coach
So many of us identify ourselves by the word athlete and the sport we play, especially during our high school and college years. Amy Rivers, a Denver-based runner and coach did. She lived and breathed running. It was how she made her choice on where to attend college.
In this episode, she shares how she overcame injury after injury, including an injury her freshman year of college that left her feeling like she never wanted to run again.
This conversation will hopefully inspire you and remind you that you can come back from injury and hard times.
