Gospel music lovers know Reggie from his years of touring and recording with such notables as the Reverend Hezekiah Walker, James Hall. R&B and hip-hop fans have heard his distinctive bass lines accompanying Will Smith and Coolio, among others. He has proven himself as an in-demand sideman many times over – now he’s finally stepping into the spotlight on his own.
Reggie calls his musical abilities a God-given gift rather than a talent. Growing up in Brooklyn, he took inspiration from the music he heard in the church of his father, the late Reverend Joe L. Parker. He also absorbed the classic R&B/pop sounds of everyone from Stevie Wonder and the Jackson Five to Donny Hathaway and Luther Vandross. At age 12, he convinced his parents to buy him an electric bass guitar; though he confesses it took him awhile to master the instrument: “People thought there was no hope. “But I kept practicing and practicing and one day it seemed like I literally woke up and knew how to play.”
Studying the styles of such master bassists as Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius, Reggie developed his own unique sound. He honed his skills while gigging at such venues as Wilson’s in Manhattan, where he sat in with various guest players and vocalists. His stint at the club led to live dates with rapper Coolio, Aaron Hall, The Winans and studio sessions with Will Smith (he appears on the hit track “Freakin’ It”). Which is on Will’s Greatest hits CD.
By the late ‘90s, Reggie had also secured a reputation as an in-demand bassist with contemporary gospel artists. He toured extensively with the Reverend Hezekiah Walker & the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir and appeared on seven albums with the group. Including the Grammy award winning “Live in Atlanta”. His bass intro to “How Much We Can Bear” has inspired many bassists worldwide. He also contributed to live and studio projects by James Hall, Reverend George Searight, Maurette Brown Clark and B.B. Jay. Reggie’s melodic lines and commitment to the groove made him an asset whether the music was sacred, secular or somewhere in between.
Reggie’s blend of old school substance and 21st Century style makes his music unpredictable, ear-catching and appealing to a wide variety of music fans. His music paints melodic pictures inside the listener's mind. It’s all there in the grooves. Download and enjoy his music. You can find “Snapshots” and “The Renaissance Man” on iTunes. His new CD “Black n Beautiful” is his latest project and is available on all digital outlets. Visit https://www.reggieparker.com for more details.

Year over year, BetterPT subscriptions have increased more than 400% and the company plans for nationwide expansion in 2020. Prior to BetterPT, Peters founded TRN Technologies, a company focused on building disruptive platforms in fitness and hospitality, which grew to 10 cities and more than 500 providers. Charles Jazz Vassallo is a 46 year-old South Brooklyn Native. He has have been a competitive athlete for most of his life including his current status as a nationally ranked endurance and OCR athlete, however, the road to this success did not come without considerable challenges. In 2009, He lost all motivation towards healthy living and a better life after a long series of tragic and stressful events, including the murder of his sister in 2009, where soon after, his health started to deplete, adopting new ailments like pre diabetes type-2 aka insulin resistance, leaky gut, hypothyroidism, psoriasis and depression.
This may have been the most emotionally draining, scary and hard-hitting time of his life; right up there with 2004, where He was left to raise his daughter as a single dad and ended up homeless, living in his car for 4 months. Battling adversity was just a daily occurrence, only this time, He stumbled upon his calling in the health, wellness, fitness and nutrition industry and with no doubt or uncertainty, became his lifeline.
The inspiration came after He found OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) in 2011, thus the birth of becoming an extreme endurance athlete. It was not long after He began competing, before He became relevant in the sport, making frequent podium appearances, was nationally ranked and was winning his way into every race. In the interim of his achievements, He developed and built a winning formula for true health and wellness, optimal athletic performance and overall increased quality of life, which he defines as the synchronization of mind, body and spirit, taking consideration all things exercise, nutrition and mental clarity.
It was not until He became a Nutrition Coach, Nutritionist and Fitness Nutrition Specialist, that He was able to make sense of it all. He studied how food can be used as medicine and how proper nutrition can heal the body of almost any sickness. Today, He does not suffer from any of the ailments that once controlled his life.
He has been a personal trainer for 6 years, ranging from a bodyweight exercise specialist, HIIT training, boot camps and now a strength and conditioning coach and corrective exercise specialist with an emphasis on 1-on-1 functional movement and conditioning. His greatest achievements are when He can help change a life, one at a time, even in a small way and guide people to be the absolute best versions of themselves, inside and out. New York native Craig Butta is an actor, director and producer. He has been a fixture in the independent film scene in New York for the last decade. Born and raised in Staten Island, he has spent most of his adult life banging around the borough of Brooklyn, in the neighborhoods his family emigrated to earlier in the 20th century. An Italian American with one foot stuck in the old neighborhood and one foot stuck in the bohemian art world of New York City, his life and work have examined this struggle. Originally intent on a life in the theatre, Craig learned to hustle down in Coney Island during the turn of the century. A college graduate undercover as a carny hustler, he spent his summers working the microphone on games at the decaying amusement park. He saved that money to study acting under the great, and recently deceased, Bill Esper at The William Esper Studios, where the methodologies of Stanford Meisner became a backbone his his life’s philosophy of “being in the moment” and “listening and then responding.” Craig molded his experiences down in Coney Island into a one man play that never saw the light of day. He was in the midst of a decade long run as a high school math teacher in a now defunct Brooklyn Catholic High school and felt like he was burning the candle at both ends, teaching high school during the day and working theatre at night. He felt that not enough people were seeing his work, so he transferred his stage show to a short film which later premiered at the SXSW film festival and helped him forge a lifetime of friendships with like minded young artists. Since his initial short film, he has gone on to act, direct, and produce numerous regarded feature films and documentaries that have taken him around the world. He currently lives in Ft Greene with his partner and daughter.

In this second episode of the Be More Today Show, we meet our special guest Marquis Ellison. Self-starter Marquis Ellison is the owner and designer of Marquis Rashoid LLC, a company that provides high fashion with a higher purpose. The Marquis Rashoid (pronounced "Rashad") collection offers exclusively handmade bow ties and pocket squares with trendsetting and distinctive designs, while donating a portion of all proceeds to charitable causes that have personal significance to Marquis: breast cancer and Crohn's Disease research. Marquis received his B.S. in Fashion Merchandising from The Florida State University. Upon graduating, he spent nearly a decade in retail management, an experience for which he is grateful to have had although he longed for a chance to make his mark in a bigger way. That opportunity came when Marquis moved to New York City in 2013. This fresh start in the fashion capital of the world inspired Marquis to pursue his dream of introducing his fashion sense to the world. Although Marquis holds a degree in Fashion Merchandising, he lacked sewing skills so he started taking classes. Early mornings and long nights paid off as Marquis mastered the sewing techniques that now contribute to the craftsmanship of Marquis Rashoid designs. With Marquis' dedication, keen sense of fashion, and attention to detail, Marquis Rashoid LLC was born. Marquis always knew he wanted his company to provide more than just high fashion - he wanted to serve a higher purpose. Inspired by the loss of his aunt to breast cancer and his personal battle with Crohn's Disease, Marquis donates a portion of the company's proceeds to support breast cancer and Crohn's Disease research. Marquis is humbled to do what he loves while supporting causes that are dear to his heart.
