The Power of Showing Up

The Power of Showing Up

In today's episode, I discuss the power of showing up.

I share a recent experience with one of my clients, who had a lot going on in his personal life but still chose to show up for his scheduled coaching call despite not having completed his homework. I emphasized the importance of showing up, even when things are challenging, as it can be beneficial for a client.

Embracing Imperfection for Success I emphasized the importance of showing up and being willing to learn for success. I encouraged individuals to overcome the fear of not being perfect or fully prepared, and instead, adopt a mindset of showing up and seeing what happens. I suggested that being open and vulnerable can sometimes lead to valuable outcomes. I also shared my experience from my coaching sessions and his podcast, where his consistent efforts, even without perfect content, were appreciated by his clients and listeners. I concluded by urging others to find ways to show up.

What grounds you and who is your model?

What grounds you and who is your model?

As an entrepreneuer, it can get overwhelming to try to create something new and to know if you are doing a good job at it. That is why it is important to have something that grounds you - something you can always come back to to know that you are doing great.

On top of that, having a model to follow makes things so much easier because they have already paved the way for a lot of what you are trying to do.

Announcing the SoloEntrepreneur Growth and Wellbeing Conference

Announcing the SoloEntrepreneur Growth and Wellbeing Conference

After years of coaching and networking with other business owners, I saw a common occurance. We are all trying our best to make the biggest impact possible with our passion. Sometimes we feel like everyone else is succeeding faster than we are - especially according to social media. We don't see their struggles or frustrations. We only see their growth and success. So we feel can't share our struggles because we must be the only ones that have them, right?

We all want to grow our business. But we realize how important it is to spend time with family, be healthy, and actually enjoy life. That is why this conference exists.

Expert speakers will share tips and tools on how they have grown their business successfully, but more importantly, all speakers will share how they have also taken care of their wellbeing along the way.

Not only will we have expert speakeres, but there are 9 different networking opportunities during the three days.

You don't want to miss this chance to learn that one thing or make that one connection that could make all the difference.

Register today! https://solopreneur-growth-and-wellbeing-conference.heysummit.com/

Celebrating Your Wins

Celebrating Your Wins

In this podcast episode, the host discusses the importance of celebrating wins, especially for high achievers. They talk about how high achievers often have a self-critical mindset and focus on what they haven't accomplished rather than celebrating their successes. The host gives an example of a client who was an HR Director and accomplished many great things but didn't have confidence in her work because she was always thinking about the next project. The host emphasizes the need to shift this mindset and start celebrating achievements. They explain that the brain doesn't recognize a win unless it is celebrated, and by doing so, high achievers can build momentum and confidence. The host also draws a parallel to celebrating first downs in football and encourages listeners to find their own ways of celebrating small victories in life.

From Baby Steps to Giant Leaps: Navigating the Journey of Success

From Baby Steps to Giant Leaps: Navigating the Journey of Success

In this podcast episode, the host discusses the concept of taking baby steps to achieve progress and success. They begin by referencing the movie "What about Bob?" where the main character is encouraged to take small steps to overcome his fears. The host uses examples such as the creation of the world in Genesis and building a brick house to illustrate the principle of step-by-step progress.

The host emphasizes that many entrepreneurs and individuals often have grand ideas and expect immediate success, but it's important to understand that progress takes time. They encourage listeners to embrace the process of taking small steps and to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of their goals.

Several examples are provided to support this perspective, including the development of Apple products, the experience of a baby learning to walk, and the host's own kitchen remodeling project. The host shares personal insights and highlights the importance of patience, understanding, and celebrating progress along the way.

Overall, the episode promotes the idea of embracing baby steps as a natural part of achieving success and emphasizes the need to view progress as a step-by-step process rather than expecting instant results.

Reaching Out

Reaching Out

In this episode of the "Reach Your Ultimate Potential" podcast, the host discusses the importance of reaching out to others and shares personal experiences to highlight the benefits of connecting with people. The episode begins with the host recounting a conversation with a Lyft driver and how engaging in conversation revealed interesting details about the driver's past experiences as a professional extra in LA and performer in Las Vegas.

The host also mentions being a business coach and emphasizes the significance of addressing mindset and emotional well-being in addition to marketing and business planning. They discuss the common struggle of knowing what needs to be done but facing barriers such as fear, doubt, and past failures. The host finds validation in the driver's appreciation for their work, which boosts their confidence and affirms their path.

The episode further explores the challenges faced by business owners, including feelings of overwhelm, doubt, and being stuck in their own minds. The host recommends scheduling morning meetings or appointments to establish structure and motivation for the day. They also emphasize the importance of reaching out to others, engaging in one-on-one conversations, and attending networking events to combat loneliness, gain different perspectives, and find support.

The host shares personal examples of attending a networking event that turned out to be valuable, providing an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and learn from their experiences. They encourage listeners to consider their own networking and outreach options, highlighting the benefits of expanding their social circle and exploring different avenues for growth.

Additionally, the host suggests incorporating reaching out to others as a daily practice. They recommend prioritizing important tasks for the day, while also setting aside time to connect with someone and offer assistance or seek help. By doing so, they believe it fulfills social needs and promotes a sense of solidarity and understanding among entrepreneurs.

Overall, the episode emphasizes the power of reaching out and the positive impact it can have on personal and professional growth. It encourages listeners to step out of their comfort zones, embrace social interactions, and recognize that they are not alone in their journey.

Belonging in HR

Belonging in HR

Belonging in HR - with Cassandra Rose

HR can be a lonely job.  Not only can you face compassion fatigue, burnout, and feeling undervalued, but you can feel like you just don't belong.

Have you ever tried to fit in with the company or the other employees and you just don't feel like you belong?  They change the conversation when you come near or you can rarely see their true selves when you are around because they see you as the company enforcer.  Cassandra and I discuss this and more:

Recontract with yourself

Take breaks

How to feel like you belong

Separating who you are from what you do

The value of reconnecting to your humanity

Emotions and Being A New Leader

Emotions and Being A New Leader

I really enjoyed this episode with Marianne Scarzello on Emotions and Being a New Leader.

Being a new leader can expose you to many emotions, those of others, but especially your own.  It can be a scary and vulnerable thing when you are new and want to appear that you have all the answers or have everything put together.  If you don't learn to properly manage your emotions, your different feelings will turn into self-doubt, fear, and anger.

Marianne shared some great, simple advice on the following:

When dealing with others' emotions (and your own):

Start small

Take little breaks

Don't try to do it alone If you don't take care of yourself, "I should be able to" turns into "why am I not able to."

What to do when you experience burnout

What to do when you experience burnout

Burnout.  It is nearly a buzzword today.  Have you experienced it?  Are you experiencing it now?  It is a good idea to learn about burnout so you can be prepared when it rears its head in your life.

Julie Turney is a fellow cofounder of HR Wellbeing Week.  She and I have a great discussion on burnout, especially in HR.  We also discuss the following:

What to do when you experience burnout

You can't help other people until you realize you need help yourself

You can't help anyone else if you are burned out

The benefits of therapy and coaching

Find ways to take care of yourself that work for you

Why it is ok for HR to ask for help

Being human means you can admit the highs and lows of life

Episode 26 - Loving Yourself Even After Making A Mistake - with Taylor Martin

Episode 26 - Loving Yourself Even After Making A Mistake - with Taylor Martin

This episode is one that I feel is very needed for someone to hear.

So often we seek to belong.  But as part of that quest, we may sacrifice our values and participate in behavior that eventually makes us question how we feel about ourselves.  We feel we have drifted so far from our values that there is no coming back. We struggle to love ourselves after having made so many mistakes.

Taylor shares her experience and how she learned to love herself even after having made many mistakes.

The daughter of addiction and a former member of the “Work Hard, Numb Hard” society, Taylor knows the suffocating effects of addiction and fear. In a pursuit to find her authentic self, Taylor removed all titles and affiliations to her name becoming just Taylor.
