Ep.102 A Journey Toward Wholeness – Mel Friedman, DO FCA
His life evolves around love, love for self and love for the patient in front of him. One of his mentors the great Robert Fulford, DO said love holds everything together. All people are loveable because of their inherent health however great or little it may be. The person’s health, according to Dr. Friedman is vastly more intelligent than the provider. In his practice the provider is to be in tune with health or in tune with what may be lacking inherent motion. This health is perceived through “Stillness”. Perception, he says, is not a projection. Perception is not willed. Perception should be of what is true. Enjoy this conversation which bounces between the physical and spiritual.

Ep.101 Art, Acupuncture and OMT… a somatic psychiatrist who lets his hands guide treatment – Alex King, DO
He is an artist, neuroscientist with synesthesia who has a unique view and experience of the world. He brings this experience to his medical practice. Rooted in his knowledge of human anatomy, osteopathic techniques and understanding the human condition allows his perception of the person to guide him to where and how he should treat. For him osteopathy is this dance of two biological systems fighting chaos. While treating he does his best to get out of the way, meeting the person where they are, listening to what the patient says, paying attention to nonverbal cues and being empathetic. He is an expert in acupuncture, using it as a means to help patients who manifest psychosomatic problems. He believes in the importance of breathing, sharpening your mind, healing your body and bolstering your spirit as a way to help your treatments be more effective. He is a researcher pushing the specialty of OMM forward. Enjoy this dynamic and informative conversation with Dr. King, DO an osteopathic healer.

Ep.85 Having a Sense of Self – Millicent Channell, DO and President of the AAO
She is a wife, mom of a 17 year old, physician leader and educator who has a keen awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion. Throughout her medical practice she has found many of her patient’s hold their life stress in their trapezius, jaws, stomach and head. She doesn’t ignore these areas of restriction but also understands the person has spirit and mental health is an essential component of wellbeing. She strives to create an environment for patients in her office to open up about their lives and heal from their pain. Through her eyes OMM is much more than a medical treatment, it makes more empathetic physicians who create a level of comfort and confidence with their patient’s. Enjoy this conversation with a special physician leader, educator and President of the AAO Millicent Channell, DO.

Ep.84 The Center for Neuromusculoskeletal Clinical Research – Clarence Nicodemus, PhD, DO
information do they give us? There is no question many patients’ benefit from the work we do. At the same time, it is easy to not be intellectually curious
and challenge our treatment techniques when patients are getting better and praising our work. On the flip side what about those patients that did not get
better or fell off our schedule. What did we do wrong, why was it not helpful? Perhaps Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine is one of the best kept secrets in medicine. Part of the goal of this podcast is to expose this secret, but there is much groundwork we need to do to better quantify our work, but at this point in time not all of it seems to be quantifiable. Enjoy this conversation with Dr. Clarence Nicodemus, DO.

health; those aspects of health which are less tangible. She has the goal of teaching other healthcare professionals how to incorporate the mental, emotion
and spiritual aspects of human health into their practice. As human beings we are bone, fluid, membrane, but we’re also intellect, emotion and spirit. The
human experience is all of these and because of this she addresses the patient from the perspective of the mind, body and spirit. Enjoy this conversation as we
learn a true holistic approach to personal health.

Ep.78 Foundation Training with Dr. Eric Goodman, DC and Jessie Salas
Helping rehabilitate a former triathlete after a serious accident made Dr. Goodman realize he wanted to dedicate his career to pain management. There were serendipitous moments in his life which led to the development of Foundation Training. Living a very active life and then having back pain himself at a very young age. Going to Chiropractic school 20 min away from the training facilities of the US Olympic Water Polo team. Having the opportunity to introduce the team to what would become Foundation Training. These are just a few of these serendipitous moments. He and his college friend and former fire fighter Jessie Salas, now form this power duo, taking FT all throughout the US and world. This was a really fun conversation and it’s always a pleasure to speak to people who are passionate about what they do. Enjoy my conversation with Dr. Eric Goodman and Jessie Salas.

Ep.77 Aligning People with Their Purpose - Amy Dean, DO
hand in hand. Dr. Dean herself suffered from severe Guillain Barre which forced her to close her internal medicine OMT practice. She was treated with cranial osteopathy by an ONMM physician during her illness which she says caused her seizures to diminish. The experience of OMT improved her quality of life so much she chose to go back to ONMM residency. Now she provides this service to patients at the hospital. Providing relief from the wear and tear of life through OMT.

Ep.76 Perceiving with Palpation, Peace and Presence – Melanie Wilde a German Osteopath
Her gastrointestinal pain drastically decreased after an osteopath treated her following 4 bowel surgeries at 21 years of age. She began moving better, had less bowel tension and gradually progressed back to her quality of life pre-surgery. She resolved to serve people in the same manner. Melanie is constantly learning with the goal of being able to individualize patient care. She strives to be present with her patients and present in her body through her yoga practice and ice baths. She seeks optimal health through healthy, grateful eating and a keen awareness of the importance of gut health. Among the many forms of healing she uses she also treats nightmares in children with deep cranial techniques. We touched on many topics in this conversation. I hope you enjoy.

With an All-Star team of physicians teaching him OMM at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, it was not hard to take a liking and appreciation for OMT.
