First they discuss their pre-COVID expectations versus the reality of what they saw from the Cowboys in 2020. After that they discuss the unique challenges the COVID protocols presented to the newly hired coaching staff.

The guys then go position by position, reflecting on the 2020 season, and where each group looks as we move forward in 2021. Can Dallas find balance in Running Back touches? What is the Dallas offensive line going to look like in 2021? Can the defense improve its defensive interior enough to finally lift the run defense over the famed "McMosher Line"? After that, the guys get into their dueling mock drafts. Landon and John will partake in three separate four-round mock drafts.


In the first mock draft, the guys will work through a scenario where the Cowboys select a cornerback in the first round, where the guys find one of John’s favorite pass-rusher in the second round to go with a versatile safety in the third.


In the second mock draft, the guys will work through a scenario where the Cowboys select LSU’s K’Lavon Chaisson at pick No. 17 in the first round. In that scenario, the guys looks at the likelihood that a cornerback of value drops to 81 while also looking at the potential options in the third and fourth rounds.


And in the final mock draft, Landon and John run through a scenario where the Cowboys trade back in the first round, where they are able to accumulate talent but also notice where their may be a steep drop off in talent in the third round.

With the first of Dallas’ two fourth-rounders, John grabbed an oft-injured but incredibly talented running back who can back up Ezekiel Elliott. With the latter of the fourth-rounders, John continued his assault on the defensive line by grabbing a high-ceiling three-technique. In the fifth round, John may have grabbed the steal of the draft, as he took a well-rounded wide receiver. In the seventh round, John gambles on an athletic linebacker who can make an impact on special teams. 


Landon, on the other hand, starts his mock off by selecting a dynamic receiver who can become an important part of the DAL offense. In the third down, Landon looks to upgrade the interior defensive line of the cowboys with a talented and athletic defensive tackle. In the fourth round, Landon adds a well-develop running back who would be an excellent back up to Elliott. Also in the fourth, Landon grabs a well-rounded safety who can further improve Dallas depth in the secondary. In the fifth round, Landon adds a developmental offensive tackle who could pay off it a big way. In the seventh, Landon adds one of the more intriguing receiver prospects in the draft.

"The “Best Coast Boys” podcast is a Cowboys-centric podcast that will delve into many other topics. Whether it is the NFL, Cowboys, movies, music, comics, food or Mixed Martial Arts, nothing is off limits on the “Best Coast Boys” podcast. 


After the pleasantries, Landon and John play a game of Free Agency Weather Report, where they forecast the Cowboys’ interest level in a variety of free agents. The guys begin by discussing why Grady Jarrett won’t come to Dallas before moving onto why Early Thomas may be the one high-priced free agent the Cowboys target. After that, John details why Sheldon Richardson likely wouldn’t be a target while Landon discusses why Adrian Amos could be a great addition if he gets out of Chicago. 


After that, the guys look lower tier free agents and if Dallas should target them in free agency. John discusses why he thinks Henry Anderson would be a valuable addition while Landon makes a great case for the Cowboys going after Tyler Eifert. 


To finish the show, the guys break out a Nerd Alert to discuss the recent Super Bowl trailers from Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. The guys discuss little details they noticed while also giving their overall thoughts on both movies.
