Birmingham Change Makers

By Junior League of Birmingham

The Junior League of Birmingham is an organization of nearly 2,300 women – driven, passionate women whose differences are valued as assets. We are fueled by a mission that has defined our path for nearly 100 years. We are change makers. We come together with a common goal to inspire and empower positive change – in our city, in the organizations we are a part of, in the lives of those we come alongside, and in our own lives. We are trailblazers. JLB strives to make a positive impact in our community by remaining committed to our vision of Building Partnerships for a Better Birmingham.

The Junior League of Birmingham and OnePlace

To celebrate and commemorate the Junior League of Birmingham’s Centennial Anniversary, the Junior League of Birmingham will gift One Place Metro Alabama Family Justice Center a minimum of $1.25 million, the lead gift to acquire and remodel a permanent space for operations.

One Place Metro Alabama Family Justice Center is a collaboration between the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, City of Birmingham-Birmingham Police Department, YWCA Central Alabama, and the Crisis Center, Inc. The mission of One Place is to provide coordinated services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through a multi-disciplinary team of professionals working together under one roof.

The Junior League of Birmingham is proud to support One Place and its irreplaceable services in our community.

Thank you to Tiffany Bailey, One Place volunteer and domestic violence survivor for sharing her story. Thank you, Ellie Friedman, Deputy District Attorney, Jefferson County, Alabama. And thank you to Lindsey Tanner, Junior League of Birmingham chair for the Community of Lights campaign.

This podcast is produced by Meg Pace Lovett and Rachel Hamm through the Junior League of Birmingham. We’re led and supported by Training Director Theresa Ryals, Communications Vice-President Stacey Summerville, and the entire board of the Junior League of Birmingham. Music is by Jason Keener and we have to thank Junior League of Birmingham Director of Operations Jim Mosely for his tech support.
