SoberNotMature - Episode 116 (Investigating Contempt)
This week we have Mike and Bill. Yeehaw! (Yes, Bill is in Texas and also recording in a unique place)
Mike did his reading and it was all about being in the moment and living in the moment. Something that we have talked about many times and it's how we try to live our lives. It was a good talk.
Then we found out that a website has our podcast on it and they said some nice things about us. Check it out here alcoholfree.com
More on Rob Halford, contempt prior to investigation, silly ads, the addict versus the disease and some other nonsensical garbage. In other words, we filled the time.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 115 (Phat Action Frustration)
This week we have some Phat Action with Mike and Bill. That sounds inappropriate and maybe it is.
Mike started off with his reading and it was about higher powers, and egos and allowing things to happen. But also doing the work. It was a good reading and a good conversation.
We did a wrap up of last weekend in Cleveland, talked about Tennessee and Bill Clinton. What? Yes, Bill Clinton.
A little more about Rob Halford, a movie where a guy had a drinking problem, some work stuff and some nonsense. Lot's of that.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 114 (Dopeless Hope Fiends)
This week we are in Cleveland! It's our anniversary weekend extravaganza. And... we had some technology issues, so hang in with us.
The funny part is that Mike's reading was about control. And lack of control. We had that with the recording and we have had that in life.
Then it was a book wrap up, the journey verses the destination, technology and recovery, things that make us better, The Steps, being hopeless and some random nonsense.
It's been a great week and we have a wonderful, sober weekend ahead of us! Thank you all for joining us.

SoberNotMature - Episode 113 (Rewire Your Electric Meatball)
Yay! It's us again! Yep, Mike and Bill and we got through an entire episode with no "real" technology issues.
Mike started off with a reading about old behavior. Blaming others, denial and just being people that we don't want to be today. It was a great conversation.
He also did a recap of the Keating Center event from last weekend and we talked about the easiest way to give back in early sobriety, or at any time.
A couple of listener comments, bitching about other podcasts, a fun news story, loving ourselves and others and practicing kindness.
Tune in next week for our full anniversary episode, with both of us in Cleveland! Until then...

SoberNotMature - Episode 112 (Did He Mention He's A Hiker?)
This week we are all fired up and ready to roll! Ok, maybe not fired up. But we filled some time.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about love. Kind of touchy feely, I suppose, but it was a good topic and a good conversation.
Then we talked about the eclipse. Mike saw more than I did, but it was definitely an event.
Looking for the third door, traveling stories, being grateful for your problems, pain as a defect, relapse talk and pride.
What else? Absolute nonsense, but maybe some of it made sense.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 111 (Elderly Watersports & Other Searches)
This week, it's the same old stuff, just a different week.
Mike did his reading and it was about loyalty and cleverness. The way we are now and the way we were then. Guess which one we choose?
We received our update from Google as far as how people find our podcast website and the search terms that they use. You don't want to miss this part.
April is National Alcohol Awareness Month and we talked about that a little bit.
The Easter weekend wrap up, Craig Ferguson, the point of no return and spiritual bank accounts.
And some nonsense. Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 110 (Judgmental Douchebaggery)
This week we have... yep, it's us! And a Good Friday to all of you.
Mike started off with his reading and it was about acceptance. It's one of our favorite topics and it was a good conversation.
Mike also had a day of "acceptance."
Sober dreams, accepting mistakes, trusting the process, not regretting the past (nor wishing to shut the door on it), what's in your heart will be spoken and stepping into the day with all of your heart.
It was smorgasbord of topics, from your favorite judgmental douche bags.

SoberNotMature - Episode 109 (Nut For A Head?)
Yep, it's your favorite guys again. Struggling with technology, but still trying to make our corner of the world a little bit better.
Mike started out with his reading and it was actually about feelings. Certainly not always on our list of topics, but it was a good conversation.
Then we talked about some rock 'n' roll stories.
We dove into a few recovery sayings, talked about honesty vs. cruelty, the physical signs of alcohol abuse, and finally a tough question about what we actually do to stay sober every day.
There was also laughing, sarcasm and foul language.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 108 (Please Excuse Our Dust)
This week we have... more technical difficulties.
It's Mike and Bill and we are still dealing with some delay issues, but oh well.
We started out with a couple of announcements and then Mike did his reading. It was about guilt and shame and as always, it was a good conversation.
Then a little trip down memory lane and the last 30 days before we got sober. We are both grateful to be on this side of things now.
The Promises came to mind and we spent a little time reading through them and talking about them. Mike even has a favorite Promise.
Bill complained a little bit and then the technology got the best of us, so we wrapped up.

SoberNotMature - Episode 107 (Willing To Support Our Will)
**Yep... we had delay issues again, but we made it through!**
We've got Mike and Bill again.
Mike started out with his reading and it was about giving and not taking. What we used to be and thankfully what we are now. It was a good conversation.
The episode picture has meaning. Listen and you will hear it.
We had a few random things like old drinking habits, T.V. shows and movies about sobriety, alcohol assessments, past insanity and we got an email from a good friend, who is also a loyal listener.
Then Mike had another reading from a social media post. It was about will vs. self will and willingness. It was from an unexpected source and it got both of us thinking.
And of course we dealt with technology issues. Again.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 106 (Calm Snark When Dealing With Thorns)
*Just a heads up, we had a slight delay again with the recording*
This week it's Mike and Bill again.
Mike started off with his reading and it was all about service. Doing things for other people and our lives get better. Imagine that.
Then a brief conversation about atheism. There is a reading in the 24 Hour Book every year and we talked about it. Mike is an atheist and Bill is at best agnostic, so it was a good conversation.
And we received some bad news this week. A very close friend of ours killed himself. He was around us from day one in our sobriety and he was a huge influence on us. It sucks and it's tragic, but we talked through it.
We wrapped up with a couple of nonsensical things and that was that.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 105 (Technology Is Our Friend, But It Won't Pick Us Up From The Airport)
This week we have Mike and Bill AND... The start of Season 5!
We had some technology issues, so when you hear the delay with us talking, oh well. It is what it is.
**Make sure to scan the QR Code!!**
Mike did his reading and it was about living in the moment. That is something that we talk about a lot and it's the back bone of our sobriety.
We talked about judging people, the first time people drank, the easier, softer way, being a prick on purpose, risky places and the worst day sober verses the best day drinking.
We also reflected a little bit on the past 2 years, since our 2 year Podcast Anniversary is coming up this week.
And we decided that we are going to stick around a bit longer.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 104 (Shark Jumping)
This week we have Mike and Bill and the Season 4 finale! It's just us, but as always, we filled the time.
Mike did his reading and it was about how fragile we all were and how we now work together. We had some laughs, but it was a good conversation.
One of us has a birthday this weekend and we revisited what we think of birthdays. (It's probably what you expect)
Then we were all over the place. We talked about Lent, a radio gig, God ads, Fletch, the 10th Step, regrets, being afraid of our illness, journaling and sayings from years past.
Don't worry, there was some nonsense also.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 103 (Some Are Sicker Than Others)
This week we have a split episode!
Carly from Episode 83 is back and she has a bunch of stuff that she is doing and we wanted to help her spread the word.
She is still working on Trust Your Message @trustyourmess_age, she is modeling and she wrote a book, that is in print and now available as an audio book on Amazon. The book is called Human: Behind the Mask and you can find more information on her other Instagram page @bycarlyannmariereed
We sent Carly on her way and Mike did his reading. It was about surrender, acceptance and life on life's terms. All things that we talk about a lot and we had a good conversation.
Then on to the acronym HALT, the good and bad when it comes to grief and a few other small items that we complained about. That's it.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 102 (Verbally Spanking The Groundhog)
This week we have...
Well, you are stuck with Mike and Bill this week and we had some catching up to do.
Mike did his reading and it was about the need for a higher power. Having one, trusting it and believing that it works. It was a good conversation.
Then some vacation talk from Bill's trip to Myrtle Beach and a funeral that he went to this week for his ex-mother-in-law.
On to alcohol awareness, mistakes in early recovery, not being a victim, absolute honesty and staying a beginner.
We also talked about a few possible upcoming guests and of course our usual nonsense.

SoberNotMature - Episode 100 (Idle Hands And Other Playthings)
This is Episode 100! Woohooo!
It's just us this week and Mike started out with his reading.
It was about this new life we have versus the old life that we thankfully left behind. We have the gift of choice and the ability to live an authentic life these days.
Then we talked about a new job and the stress of the job search. It all works out and in it's own time.
We looked back briefly at some of our episodes and mainly just talked about the fact that we are still here, doing this thing every week and that in itself is pretty cool.
Then on to substance abuse disorder, remembering a sponsor, idle hands and of course some nonsense.
So this is what you get with a 100th episode. Same stuff, but we are not done yet.

SoberNotMature - Episode 99 (Wrestling With Our Demons)

The full audio is still here, but if you want to check out the video, visit us on YouTube - sobernotmature (and let us know what you think!)
Mike did his reading and it was about the Serenity Pray. It's something that we used a lot in the beginning and still use at times and we had a good conversation.
We received a nice comment from a follower and he definitely gets us.
Then a mish mash of stuff. Dry January, taking versus receiving, stubbornness, it's an inside job, death, and stupid phrases.
I'm sure there was more, but I guess you'll just have to listen.

SoberNotMature - Episode 97 (An Old Acquaintance We Forgot)
Happy Freakin' New Year! Well, it's almost that time and it's your favorite fellas joining you this week.
Mike's reading was about the New Year and we talked about what it was like then and what it's like now. (sounds kinda familiar)
We talked about an annoying word and we gave an update on the number of "F" words from the last episode. It was a lot.
Then on to square pegs, round holes, seeking out people like us, proud moments, drinking thoughts and what the word "sober" really means to us.
We also shared some stories about a few meaningful words that we have received over the years from those that we care about.
What else? Listen and find out.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 96 (Leave It On The Steps Ya Filthy Animals)
This week we have a gift for you. Yep, it's us. Just in time for Christmas.
Mike did his reading and it was about the gifts that we get these days. Interesting lives and a world that is wide open. No more boredom and lives that have no meaning.
Then we jumped into the 12th Step and talked about what it means to us and why it's so important.
We had a couple of announcements about our friend Christine (@sober.as.a.mother From Episode 35) and our friends Carly and Breeze (@trustyourmess_age From Episode 83) You have to listen to hear the announcements, but it's all positive!
Let's see, what else... Our audience, Matthew Perry, disclosures, Shakespeare (yeah, we talked about Shakespeare) and we wrapped up with comparing ourselves.
It's a lot. Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 95 (Crazy Musings From Mexico)
This week it's just us and Mike and his girlfriend are in Mexico!
We started off with Mike's reading and it talked about how we all do this sober thing the same way, but also just a little bit differently. The same path, with slight (and unique) variances.
Then some nice comments from a listener and a follower.
A short story about another podcast and proof that we don't always think before we speak.
Crazy Megan sent us some questions a few weeks ago and we finally had the chance to answer them. (You can send some too!)
We wrapped up with a little nonsense. Shocker.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 94 (Mara S - Lotion For Sodriety)
This week we have Mara! @marajsankin
Another really, really good friend from Cleveland.
We had a lot of fun with this conversation, but recovery is serious business with Mara. This is not her first run at this and she told us what happened and how she came back to sobriety.
She also taught us a new word... "sodriety." (listen and you'll hear what it means.)
The most important part of the conversation was about what she is doing now and what her life is like today.
It's good stuff and you don't want to miss this one.

SoberNotMature - Episode 93 (Nico M - No Halos, But A Couple Of Horns)
This week we have Nico Morales @nohalonm
Nico joins us from New Mexico and took the time to walk us through all of the things that brought him down.
He started using at 14 and gave up family and everything else that meant something to him.
Then he found a solution. He doesn't follow the same path as we do, but we are all headed in the same direction and we talked about the similarities, rather than the differences.
Today, he is an entrepreneur, a coach, a speaker and as he put it, he has found joy and peace.

SoberNotMature - Episode 92 (Blowing Your Ass Out And Other Questionable Behaviors)
It's the Gratitude Episode, with your friends, Mike and Bill!
Mike did his reading and yep, it was about gratitude. The importance of saying thank you, being kind and being better than we used to be.
Then we did a recap of the sober retreat that we went to last weekend. It was fun, engaging and we highly recommend attending a retreat. It was wonderful. We did have a slight "run in" with a dude that was NOT part of our group and it's a fun story.
Bill finished the Matthew Perry audio book and did a recap on that. A few interesting observations and some possible insight into how he may have been "working" his program.
We wrapped up with a couple of things from the daily readings that we do about pride and acting sober. Was there more? Maybe.
Enjoy the episode.
Visit us
SoberNotMature - Episode 91 (Record Setting Dribblers)
Yep, this week it's Mike and Bill and an early release, since we have a busy weekend ahead of us.
Mike did his reading and it was about how "we" see alcohol and drugs, how "we" become fools when we drink, what we lose when we drink and ultimately what we gain when we stick around.
Then we chatted for a few minutes about chaos. The life of chaos that we used to live and the peace and quiet that we get to enjoy now.
The Holidays are coming up, so Mike did his normal message about how to get through the Holidays sober and we had a question from a listener and a follower about time and why we only count continuous time.
And a little bit more about Matthew Perry. It was a conversation based on an article in The LA Times and for the most part, we did not agree with the mindset of the author.
There was probably more, but I guess you'll just have to listen.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 90 (Michael R - The Keating Boys & The Mystery Of The Casino Buffet)
This week we have Michael! Our really, really good friend from Cleveland and one of our sober friends for over 13 years.
Michael told us a little bit about how he got here, but more importantly, why he stays here.
We talked about The Keating Center and the 3/4 house that we were all at. Then about the woman that he met, who became his wife and the mother of his 2 beautiful daughters.
There were poker nights, charity events, good times and rough times and even a trip to the all you can eat buffet at the casino (hence the episode title).
Basically, it was just 3 sober guys that have been through it together for over 13 years, having a conversation.

SoberNotMature - Episode 89 (Memories, Meditation and Mammaries)
It's your friends, Mike and Bill this week! And we had some things to talk about.
Mike did his reading and it was about monsters and miracles. Pretty much a then and now when it comes to folks like us, and we had a nice conversation about it.
Then on to Step 11 (Since it's the 11th month) and it deals with prayer and meditation. We both work this step every day, but maybe differently than some? It's important though, and we talked about it.
We talked about our mom and shared some nice memories. It's been a year since she passed, and it's been a good year, all in all. She lives on in our hearts and that's what matters.
And we jumped on the Matthew Perry wagon for a few minutes. Not to talk about his fame and his TV show, but the fact that he was one of us.
Listen up and enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 88 (Metal God Nostalgia & Piles Of Manure)
Yay! Just Mike and Bill this week. Eh, it is what it is, right?
Mike did his reading and it was about responsibility. Certainly something that most of us lacked before we got sober, so it was a good conversation.
Then we inadvertently got into a conversation about sponsors and sponsees. The main thing is that "we" can't keep anyone sober, but we can offer guidance and experience.
We chatted about meetings and how we picked them early on, a podcast episode with "the metal god," nostalgia and we received some comments from followers and non followers. The good and the not so good.
And I think we got filthy at the end, which is nothing new.

This week we have Heidi! @moonwater_motherearth
Our good friend and "bestie" from Cleveland.
She walked us through a little bit about what got her here (which was actually a guy), and then the goof stuff. What her life is like today.
From not knowing how she would do anything without a substance, to a life that is full beyond her wildest dreams.
And yes, she said the line... "It's not all strawberries and orgasms..." but she explains why she wouldn't trade this new life for anything.

SoberNotMature - Episode 86 (Birthday Cakes and Blood Splatters)
Yeah... it's Mike and Bill again this week. We recorded on Thursday this week and it's Bill's son's birthday!
Mike did his reading and it was about instincts, impulses and the dreaded idea of growing up. We have "not mature" in the name of our podcast, but even we have grown up. A little bit. It did make for a good conversation though.
Then we talked briefly about "that person" that wants to rid the world of the word alcoholic. We didn't beat that up too much, but we still have strong opinions about it.
Next was the story of the day that Bill's son was born and where part of the episode title came from. It was a beautiful day, but yeah, things got a little messy. (In a funny way)
We rounded out the episode with talk of moderation, harm reduction, a nice quote and comparing ourselves, especially in early recovery. I think there was some nonsense too.
Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 85 (Emissions From Hot Burning Balls Of Gas)
Well, it's just the two of us again and we actually had quite a bit to talk about.
Mike did his reading and it was about choices. They are lost while we are drinking, but when we get sober, we have a "sense' of choice again. It was a good reading and a good discussion.
It's October, the tenth month, so we dove into the 10th Step. Personally, we both feel like this step is a big one and we talked about when we started practicing it, how it has helped us and maybe even makes us better people.
We did a recap of Mike and Chris' time at Cinema Wasteland last weekend and some people approached Mike again about the podcast. And... we have now partnered with the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, to accept donations for them through our website. Check it out at www.sobernotmature.com
The last thing we touched on was placing reasons on why "we" drink and why "we" become alcoholics. We have some opinions and as always, they are just our opinions.

SoberNotMature - Episode 84 (Finding Worth In Our Worthiness Is Super Cool)
Yep, just Mike and Bill this week and we were a little punchy, but in a fun way...
Mike did his reading, and as always it was a good one, that turned into a great conversation. Faith, openness, higher powers and light switches. (it will make sense when you listen)
We talked about the trip that Bill took, some old feelings and a story from a meeting that he went to in the bible belt. Lot's of God, but a good meeting nonetheless.
There was music talk, action items from our readings and when we started to actually feel value again after we got sober.
A quick plug for our favorite doctor, Dr. Sarah (from Episode 72). She appeared on another podcast recently, Sobriety Checkpoint, and you should check it out! @sobrietycheckpoint.co

This week we have Carly and Breeze! @carlyannmariereed @_breezexx
We had a great conversation with them and it was amazing how much we all have in common. They are young and we are old, but we all ended up in the same place. Kind of cool.
They gave us some background and then they told us about this wonderful thing that they are doing called, Trust Your Message @trustyourmess_age Carly and Breeze aim to inspire sobriety, encourage recovery, and offer valuable resources and personal insights to help others find strength and positivity amidst their own chaos. They referred to it as "Pain Expressed Artistically."

We had a great conversation with her and she walked us through what she does, how she got there and what she enjoys about it. She works with individuals who are struggling with mental health and she often works with people who are starting their recovery journey.
We also talked about medical treatment with addiction recovery and what it means to us to be sober. We have our opinions and it was a good topic.

He walked us through his childhood, the trauma that he dealt with and how he drank. Drinking took away the negatives and as with many of us, he never had just one.
Then he walked us through the steps, in story form, and we enjoyed every minute of it. The rest of the episode was just a few sober guys, hanging out and talking recovery. It was cool.

SoberNotMature - Episode 80 (An Audio Epidural For Your Labor Day)
Just Mike and I this week, but we did have a lot to talk about. We had a whole sheet full of notes, but really only talked about a few things.
Mike's reading had to do with the concept of "progress not perfection," and we know about that all too well.
Then we jumped into Step 9, because it actually is September already! That was a great conversation and one that I think everyone can relate to, even if you don't follow a 12 Step program.
We have been doing this podcast for 18 months now and we talked about that briefly and then Mike gave his traditional Holiday weekend pep talk, since of course it's Labor Day weekend (hint - it's just another day and just another weekend)
Oh yeah and some nonsense. Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 79 (Mike From Sober Press - Wise Guys Cracking Wise)
Holy cow, it's Season 4! And to start it off, we have Mike from Sober Press. @soberpress
First of all, with 2 "Mike's," I tried to set up a nickname for the resident Mike, but I couldn't seem to keep that straight. I tried though...
Mike from Sober Press has become what we consider an Instagram friend and we have had plenty of conversations and interactions with him on the socials but this was our first chance to talk to him.
He was a bit under the weather, but was able to give us the "CliffsNotes" version of how he got sober and most importantly, we talked about what he does now.

This week it's Mike and I and we are recording late! Listen and find out why, but it did make us a little punchy, but in a fun way.
Mike had a great reading this week and then we jumped into Step 8 for a little bit. It turned into a good conversation and one that may be helpful to some people.
A very good friend of ours passed away recently, but he died sober. He "graduated."
We told some stories and recalled some fun times with him and expressed a lot of gratitude for who he was to us. He was a good dude and he was instrumental in our sobriety. He will be missed.
Then we talked about fear and faith, the concept of hopelessness, resentments and we talked about freedom and gratitude. And finally, some nonsense.

SoberNotMature - Episode 77 ("G" Revisited - Pain, Resentment and Other Nonsense Filler Words)
This week it's our good friend Gretchen (G). We had her on before (Episode 31) and she's back to talk about her knee surgery and how she dealt with the procedure, the pain, the meds and the overall recovery. And she did it all sober.
Then we talked about the pains we all have. Getting old has its challenges.
Mike did his reading and it had to do with acceptance. Coincidentally, G has been having some struggles with acceptance and we had a nice discussion about that.
It was a fun conversation with a true friend and we think that you may get something out of it. Or maybe not. I guess you'll just have to listen.

SoberNotMature - Episode 76 (Alysse B - Curates Us Soberly... But Not Maturely)
This week we have Alysse, founder of The Sober Curator. @thesobercurator
You may have read some of our posts as far as how we became acquainted and if not, we do talk about it briefly.
Alysse is truly one of us and she has 17 years sober. She has had her ups and downs, successes and failures and she does a great job of walking us through her story.
We heard a lot of things that we have heard before, such as trying to control her drinking, meetings were not for her (in the beginning), feeling like she was unique and dealing with depression and feelings of uselessness.
But today, she has a lot going on and that is the fun stuff. She has a full time job, the website, service work and a great outlook on life. You'll be happy that you listened to this one.

SoberNotMature - Episode 75 (King Roach - Grateful To Be In The Room)
This week we have Alex "King Roach" Montañez @ImKingRoach
Alex approached us a few months ago to be on and after a few adjustments and date changes, we were able to have a great conversation with him. He gave us a brief background about what happened and why he got sober, and then we got right into the fun stuff... what he is up to now.
He started his company www.dominatetheglobe.com in 2020, had some ups and downs and then got sober on 3/01/22. Drinking had become a daily thing for him and it was part of his life and his music. He shares how getting sober has given him back his life, allowed him to accomplish things he always dreamed of and as the title says, he is now grateful to be in the room.
Alex has a lot of positive things going on these days and we go through all of them in this conversation.

SoberNotMature - Episode 74 (Planting Flowers In The Turds)
Yep, it's Mike and Bill again. Fresh off a weekend of bikers, Jetts, Foos and a bad "hotel" experience. But, it was a great weekend.
We started off with Mike's weekly reading and it was a good one. All about service and we got into a conversation about what we do for service. Is it enough? Will it ever be enough? Listen and find out.
Then we recapped the weekend and we have some stories, but the bottom line is that we had a great time, listened to some great rock 'n' roll and we did it all sober.
We talked about a few items from our weekly readings, maintenance drinking (or not), trouble sleeping (yes more on that) and we got a very nice email from a listener, who is also an upcoming guest. What else? Garbage and nonsense.

SoberNotMature - Episode 73 (Fighting Relapse, Darkness and Foo)
Just us two knuckleheads this week, both in Indiana and we are going to the 120th Harley Reunion in Milwaukee! Bikers, Joan Jett and the Foo Fighters!
First of all, the reading from Mike and it was about not regretting the past, facing people that we hurt and we had a pretty nice conversation. That led into another reading that we came across this week about facing walls in our lives.
Mike has his radio gig coming up again! We talked about that briefly, but stay tuned for all of the details.
We have a new friend that we will be collaborating with, we received a very nice message from a listener, we talked about favorite concerts, drunken concerts, feeling down, then feeling great (and grateful) and we revisited the topic of relapse. We have some fairly strong opinions about that subject, but they are also very simple.
And then some nonsense. Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 72 (Dr. Sarah Co-signs Our Bullshit and Takes Us Out of CrazyTown)
This week we talked with Dr. Sarah Michaud (Author "Co - Crazy") Website www.DrSarahmichaud.com YouTube - Leaving CrazyTown
"Co - Crazy begins with a chronicle of growing up in a family with alcoholism that eventually led to a harrowing journey and downward spiral into drug and alcohol addiction. Her inspiring recovery is deeply authentic, and Michaud’s vivid descriptions are both heartbreaking and illuminating."
We talked about her book, about her YouTube channel and about her 40 years of sobriety and then we talked about everything else.
She was a wonderful guest, we had a great time, a very engaging conversation and we will have her back again. Seriously, you just need to listen.

SoberNotMature - Episode 71 (Precariously Practicing Our Perfection)
Well... we had some challenges with this episode, but we made it through. As always, you will hear the challenges!
Mike had a great reading this week and it talked about building character through good habits. It also talked about values, morals and ethics, which are all things that we DID NOT have before we got sober. And Mike had a story from this week to go along with that whole concept.
We received a nice message from a listener with a request and we also received an email from a guy that contacted us over a year ago. Remember the guy that said that 90% of all podcasts fail in the first year? It was him and Bill emailed him back. It was fun.
Then on to The Absolutes again, sleeping issues (or not), indulgences after we got sober, work conferences and perfectionism. And then we were just done.

SoberNotMature - Episode 70 (Setting Our Boundaries - Keeping Out The Bull)
Well... we had a couple of technical issues, but it's our "rule" not to edit out the failures (haha), so you get to hear them.
Mike started out with a reading and it talked about "acting as if," which we have talked about before. It also talked about hurting people and the shame that we all usually feel when we first get sober. It brought about a pretty good conversation between us.
Then we talked about the wrap up of Bill's job last week, opening up on social media and we did a recap of our trip to Founder's Day.
What is our purpose today, nice things people say about us since we have been sober and setting boundaries.
Oh yeah, and Mike got some new equipment. No, that's not a euphemism. He got some new podcast equipment and we got to test that out.

SoberNotMature - Episode 69 (Coach David G - Owning Our Behavior, Without A Mortgage)
This week it's Coach David! He's a business coach and has been a sober member of this thing we do, for over 14 years.
Instagram - @coachdjgreer Website - coachdjgreer.com
He started off with the fact that he's adopted (and that becomes part of his story later) but had a relatively normal childhood. A decent student, played sports and partied on the weekends. Same thing when he went on to college.
Then came the work stress and more drinking. Trying to quit at times, unsuccessfully. Finally the moment of clarity and his first meeting. Coach David has had many great experiences since he has been sober, runs a successful business and is still active in the original meeting that he attended.
He has a wonderful story and we had a great conversation. Enjoy the episode.

SoberNotMature - Episode 68 (Became Willing To Remove Our Piss Drawers)
Founders Day Weekend!
We started off with the reading for the week and it was about doing the next right thing, the "we" of the program and positive thinking.
Then on to Step 6, which also played into the reading, and we had a nice discussion around that. And a technical difficulty. Throbbing and buzzing.
Some employment announcements and we talked about treating people well. We wrapped up with solving problems and pissing in drawers. Yes, that's where the title came from.

SoberNotMature - Episode 67 (Sober Friends' Matt - Floating Our Boats & Avoiding The Floaters)
This week, Matt From Sober Friends Podcast joined us. ( Instagram - @soberfriendspod )
Matt has a fairly normal back story, where his family drank, he never wanted to be like that and he actually had a plan on how NOT to be an alcoholic. But we know how that goes.
That was maybe 15 minutes of the episode, and then we just shot the breeze for the rest of the time. We talked about the podcasts and why we do them, what recovery really means and what we do with our time. We talked about the path, different ways to stay sober, anonymity and other things that I can't even recall.
It was literally just 3 guys that have been doing this thing for a bit, having a candid conversation about sobriety. Enjoy the episode.
