Ep83 - Managing Technology Risk
Do you know what risks you are accepting at your company? In this episode, we are going to be talking about Managing Technology Risks.
What is Technical Risk?
Technical Risk refers to the potential for performance shortfalls in achieving explicitly established and stated technical requirements. These shortfalls may arise during the evolution of design, production, or system implementation. Here are the key points:
Definition: Technical risk encompasses the uncertainties related to the design, development, and production of a system. It affects the system’s ability to meet stakeholder expectations and technical specifications.
Components of Risk:
- Scenarios: These are situations or events that lead to degraded performance.
- Likelihood: The probability (either qualitative or quantitative) of these scenarios occurring.
- Consequences: The severity of performance degradation if a scenario materializes.
Risk Management Process:
- Identification: Recognize potential technical risks.
- Mitigation: Develop plans to address risks.
- Monitoring: Continuously assess progress and adapt as needed.
IT Team: They play a vital role in risk management by identifying, monitoring, and resolving technical risks.

Ep79 - The Critical Choice of Software Vendors
Ever wonder if the tech you are using might be the problem you are facing? Today, we are going to discuss finding the right technology for your organization.
Everyone has a list of priorities or requirements for the tools they need to do their job. Those priorities and requirements are what we use to help us decide which tool is the best.
We judge a tool by many things
Easy of Use
Easy of Access
Reliability
Brand
Price
Security Practices
Stance on Social Issues
Each one of these categories and other ones play into our decision-making process. We see the tools we use as an asset to our organization, helping us to do whatever we are trying to accomplish better or faster.
But what happens when the tool becomes a problem, whether Unreliability, Slow, Dangerous, Unsupported, Out of Budget, Not Secure, or Conflicting Social Stance
You are now faced with the challenge of assessing a new tool to make sure your organization is running as best as possible and not letting it lose revenue or productivity due to using the wrong tool.
Now I want to make sure you are aware that I realized that every organization is different and faces different challenges. But I also want to note that at some point everything goes through changes and you will have to make changes, large or small if your organization is to continue to run efficiently.

Or you might get a text message that says you've won a prize, and you need to call a number or visit a website to claim it. Or you might get a call from someone who pretends to be from tech support, and asks you to give them remote access to your computer. These are all examples of phishing attacks, and they can have serious consequences if you fall for them. That's why it's important to know how to detect and avoid phishing attacks.

Ep61 - IT Security in the Physical World
What do we mean by that? Well, we often think of IT security as something that happens online, in the digital realm. We use passwords, encryption, firewalls, antivirus software, and other tools to protect our data and devices from hackers and cyberattacks. But what about the physical security of our IT assets? How do we prevent unauthorized access, theft, damage, or sabotage of our hardware and software in the real world?
This is an important topic for anyone who uses or manages IT systems, especially in places where there is a high risk of physical threats, such as natural disasters, civil unrest, vandalism, or espionage. In this episode, we'll discuss some of the best practices and tips for securing your IT infrastructure in the physical world.

Here are five tips to help you keep your Windows 11 device safe and secure.
Ep58 - The Pen and The AI
AI writing tools are software applications that use artificial intelligence to generate text based on a given topic, prompt, or keyword. They can help you write faster, better, and more creatively. Some examples of AI writing tools are OpenAI's GPT-3, Google's Smart Compose, and Microsoft's Bing.
These tools use natural language processing and deep learning to analyze large amounts of text data and produce coherent and relevant content. They can also learn from your writing style and preferences and adapt to your needs. You can use them for various purposes, such as blogging, copywriting, content marketing, academic writing, and even fiction writing.
Ep57 - Virtualizing your Organization
Virtualization is the process of creating a digital version of something that is normally physical, such as a server, a network, or a device. We'll also share some examples of how virtualization can help you achieve your mission and vision as a faith-based organization.
Ep56 - Automating your Organizational Processes with Technology
Automation is the process of using software, hardware, or other tools to perform tasks that would otherwise require human intervention. Automation can save you time, money, and energy, as well as improve the quality and consistency of your work. Automation can also free you up to focus on more creative, strategic, or spiritual aspects of your organization.
Technology can help you streamline and optimize your organizational processes in various ways. One of the benefits of using technology is that you can automate repetitive or tedious tasks and save time and resources. For example, you can use software tools to manage your projects, communicate with your team, track your progress, and generate reports. Technology can also help you improve the quality and efficiency of your products or services, by enabling you to access data, analyze information, and solve problems faster and more accurately. Technology can also enhance your customer satisfaction and loyalty, by providing them with convenient and personalized solutions that meet their needs and expectations.
Ep55 - Deleting your Footprint
You may have heard of the term "digital footprint", which refers to the traces of your online activity that are stored by various websites, apps, and platforms. These can include your browsing history, search queries, social media posts, comments, likes, shares, purchases, reviews, and more. Some of this data may be harmless or even useful, but some of it may be sensitive, personal, or embarrassing. You may not want this data to be accessible by anyone who can search for your name or email address, or by hackers who can exploit it for malicious purposes.
So how can you delete your data from the internet? Well, the bad news is that there is no easy or foolproof way to do so. Once you put something online, it can be copied, shared, archived, or cached by multiple sources that are beyond your control. Even if you delete your original post or account, there may be copies or backups of it somewhere else. However, the good news is that there are some steps you can take to reduce your digital footprint and make it harder for others to find your data.
Ep54 - Do you Budget for Tech Success?
Building an IT budget is a crucial step for any organization that wants to leverage technology to achieve its goals. Whether you're a small business, a nonprofit, a church, or a large corporation, you need to plan ahead and allocate your resources wisely to optimize your IT performance and efficiency.
But how do you create a budget that meets your needs and expectations?
Ep53 - Have you rebooted?
You've probably experienced this before: your computer, phone, or other device is acting up, slow, or glitchy. You try everything you can think of to fix it, but nothing works. Then you decide to turn it off and on again, and voila! It works like a charm. Why is that?

Ep50 - Traffic Control
Traffic is the lifeblood of any online business or ministry. It's the number of people who visit your website, watch your videos, listen to your podcast, or follow you on social media. The more traffic you have, the more opportunities you have to share your message, grow your audience, and make an impact.
But how do you get traffic in the first place? And how do you make sure that the traffic you get is relevant, targeted, and interested in what you have to offer? That's what we're going to cover in this episode.
There are two main types of traffic: organic and paid. Organic traffic is the traffic that comes to you naturally, without you having to pay for it. This includes traffic from search engines, social media platforms, referrals from other websites, or word-of-mouth. Paid traffic is the traffic that you buy from advertising platforms, such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads, YouTube Ads, or others.
Both types of traffic have their pros and cons. Organic traffic is free, but it takes time and effort to build and maintain. You need to create valuable content that attracts and engages your audience, optimize your website for search engines, and promote your content on social media and other channels. Paid traffic is fast and scalable, but it costs money and requires constant testing and optimization. You need to create compelling ads that catch people's attention, target the right keywords and audiences, and track and measure your results.
