Episode 25: Abbie Richie, Tech Guru for Seniors, Senior Savvy

Episode 25: Abbie Richie, Tech Guru for Seniors, Senior Savvy

Abbie Richie is an entrepreneur, mother of two school-aged children, wife of 17 years, and devoted daughter of many. She is the TECH GURU FOR SENIORS, the founder of Senior Savvy, which provides Zoom workshops and technical support throughout the US. Senior Savvy is the marriage of two things Abbie loves - helping older people and technology.  After helping many of her friend’s parents and her in-laws, she realized there was a huge need for personable and patient tech support for older folks. In 2018, Abbie started Senior Savvy, though she will tell you that Senior Savvy started a long, long time ago.  Growing up in Los Angeles, she spent a lot of time with her grandparents. Nana and Papa fostered deep respect and admiration through their commitment to her family and their community. After college in Boston, she moved to the SF Bay Area for grad school, right before the “dot com boom” and received an in-depth education on all things tech. Since then, she has continued to learn everything about technology while patiently teaching seniors the skills they need.  In April 2020, her workshop students began requesting she offer her classes on Zoom. The pivot allowed her to expand Senior Savvy tech support to senior communities around the US.  Abbie Richie is the host of Senior Savvy With Abbie (premiering in 2022 on SaltboxTV), the founder of Senior Savvy, has been featured on ABC 15 News, Fox26 Houston, the Isiah Factor, USA Today, and Yahoo News. You can reach out to her at abbie@seniorsavvy.net or www.seniorsavvy.net, and on social media where she shares more tech tips via Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Episode 15: Romance and Children's Author Sharon Allen

Sharon Allen is a prolific author who came to her career later in life.  Although she always want to write from the time she was in college, she didn't receive a lot of encouragement.  Marriage, family and work took most of her time so she put her dreams of writing away.  However, it is never too late.  After raising children and retiring, she decided to try her hand at expanding on those short stories that she enjoyed writing when in college.  She took the characters and the circumstances and created a longer Romance entitled "The Swing" about 4 couples from high school. It was the thrill of a life-time to hold her published book in her hands and to realize that she could indeed write and be a published author.  Sharon wants you to know that if you dream of writing and publishing a book, don't let anyone or anything stop you.  If she can do it, you can too.  Sharon's other romance books are: "Two Hearts, Two Loves," "A Second Love," "Escape to Live," and "My 3 Loves."  Her children's books are "Cloie's New School," "Jake: Homeless to Hero," "Charlie's Dream," and "Lizzie To The Rescue."  Her books can be found on Amazon.com and you can follow her there or on Facebook under Sharon Flanery Allen.

Episode 11: Interview with Valencia McClure, The Artistry of Essential Oils

Valencia McClure spent most of her life in corporate jobs that she had a passion for and that she loved.  But when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer she knew she had to take a serious look at the toxins she was putting in and on her body.  She started with aromatherapy defusing essential oils and then went deeper to help fight off the negative physical and emotional aspects of radiation.  That's when she found a new passion.  She wanted to learn more so she became certified and started learning as much as she could about the industry even while continuing her corporate career.  When she was able to retire she had done her research, saved some money, developed a plan, joined a vibrant women's business community and lined up an Advisory Board to assist her in higher-level decision-making.  She was ready to launch and Covid19 happened and destroyed a future part of her business plan so like many of you she had to pivot.  Listen now to see how she and her team successfully navigated these challenging times.  Visit www.theartistryofessentialoils.com for more information or email valencia@theartistryofessentialoils.com.

EPISODE 9: Interview with John Williams of Spartan DFW Roofing & Construction

EPISODE 9: Interview with John Williams of Spartan DFW Roofing & Construction

John Williams operates Spartan DFW Roofing and is passionate about helping homeowners navigate the difficult and changing landscape of insurance claims.  He knows how difficult it is not only from an emotional stand point, but from a practical "what do I do now" perspective.  For many homeowners, they need him during a crisis (storm, fire, substandard work, reckless driving, or other unexpected action).  I am delighted to have John on the show to talk about an industry that doesn't often get much attention on media except during a crisis.  However, Roofing and Light Construction is an industry that is always in demand.  With the weather patterns now experienced around the world due to climate change it will be a viable business for years to come.  If you have a heart for others and want to pursue a passion of helping others, Roofing might be for you.  Please share the link with others and go back and post a review if you enjoy this or one of our other interviews.  John Williams can be reached at www.facebook.com/Spartan-DFW-Roofing

Episode 6: Interview with Violinist & Author Alicia Previn

Episode 6: Interview with Violinist & Author Alicia Previn

In this interview, we will hear from Violinist and Author Alicia Previn who comes by her musical heritage honestly.  The daughter of world-famous composer Andre Previn and well-known Jazz Singer Betty Bennet, great music is one of her earliest memories.  Like many she studied piano first as other mother and her sister played but she soon gravitated to violin and that has been her life-long love. Alicia shares her struggle of trying to explain that her brand of the violin was different and not just for limited genres or music styles.  Over the years she created her own sound that people seem to love.  As an avid environmentalist and teacher, she wrote a song about earthworms that led to her first book.  She then followed that book with a story about a tortoise and the desert, then a story about giving bees a chance.  Her fourth book What Paradise Found is still very much about nature and how that spiritual connection offers healing, peace, and joy while showing children a magical way to deal with moving to a new place.  You can find all her books and music at www.AliciaPrevin.com.
