Economic Abuse

Economic Abuse

In today's episode, I am joined by Jasbinder Kaur who is a training officer from the charity survivingeconomicabuse.org/. With this episode we aim to help our listeners understand what economic abuse actually is, recognise the signs of economic abuse, and find out what support is available should a listener be experiencing economic abuse themselves, suspect someone you know may be experiencing economic abuse, or if you are an organisation that may have customers experiencing economic abuse that you are able to recognise the signs and support your clients. Economic abuse can impact people from all walks of life and all backgrounds, however, as we discuss with Jasbinder perpetrators can play on existing vulnerabilities, for example, someone who has vulnerable immigration status, or someone from LGBTQ plus community. Please do check out the Surviving economic abuse website for further resources. survivingeconomicabuse.org/

Buy Now Pay later

Buy Now Pay later

This week, I am joined by Janice, part of the Black Girl Finance team, to discuss Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL).  Buy now pay later companies have sprung up out of nowhere, new shiny and plastered overall shopping carts and payment options of absolutely everywhere I shop.

Easy to use and now thoroughly embedded into our online shopping experience, no wonder BNPL has taken off. However, what are the downsides of BNPL, the FCA will be bringing in regulation and charity Step change have raised concerns about the increasing debt of young people attributed to BNPL.

We discuss What BNPL is? Why you might decide to use it, and how to use it effectively.

Wills, Trusts and Power of Attorney with Wentworth Wills

In this episode, we are joined by the ladies from http://www.wentworthwills.co.uk/ - Charlene and Antoinette Simms.

They have been in estate planning for the past 3 years and they are actively working to inform and empower people from BAME communities to have conversations about Wills, Trusts and Power of Attorney.  Estate planning and inheritance issues is a conversation had pretty frequently in newspaper money advice columns and on other money podcasts. It's a subject we definitely need to start talking about as wealth grows and the transfer of wealth starts to happen from one generation to the next.

Charlene and Antoinette - explain why we should ensure we write our will, consider setting up a trust and they also talk us through power of attorney.
