When I Grow Up

This week’s episode is with my new friend, Hannah Lee, who is a Doctoral Candidate of Counseling Psychology. It was my honor to be able to chat with this week’s guest, John Cho, who is not only seasoned in his field but offers some invaluable advice for those who just want to succeed in life! I really enjoyed talking with my guest, Helen Kingery, this week about her job and her journey on how she got where she is today. Helen is an associate director for communications in CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, in the Division of Human Development and Disability and has worked for the CDC for 11 years across different divisions, supporting a variety of topics. Listen as she shares her experiences of being a missionary in Kenya for 2 years and why she decided to pursue a Masters in Public Health.

Coach Mark Greubel is a mixed martial arts and kickboxing coach based out of Augusta, Georgia. He is also on track to be the Team USA Kickboxing coach for the Summer Olympics taking place in Los Angeles, California in 2028. Listen as Coach shares with me about childhood events that impacted his decisions and ultimately led to his passion for MMA and kickboxing. By the end of our conversation, he has me convinced that I need to sign up for a kickboxing class ASAP.

Growing up as a competitive figure skater took a toll on my body. I am convinced that if it weren’t for chiropractic care, I wouldn’t be able to walk properly today. That’s why I was really looking forward to hearing from my guest, Dr. Mike Ho, about what it is like to be a chiropractor and his journey to how he got where he is today. Y’all. If I could do it all over again, you know this is what I would be doing! I loved chatting about all things dance with professional dancer and choreographer, Eileen Kim. In this episode, Eileen shares how her exposure to dance during her freshman year of college led her to quit school to pursue her passion full time. She also shares what it has been like to be a small business owner, as she and her sister opened their own dance studio just over a year ago.

 I met my guest Justin Oh in college and I remember him being a very creative, outside-the-box thinker. He's now a senior product marketing manager at Discord, and on this episode, he shares his journey and insights into the nature of his job and how his unique skill set got him there.

 It’s always so insane to me when I see these gorgeous and inspired murals painted on the sides of super tall buildings. The task of just figuring out how and where to start seems overwhelming. My guest and muralist, Arah Kang, gives me all the details on this week’s episode about everything that goes into the process of painting a mural on a large scale. Arah never intended on being a muralist, but now it’s her full time job! Listen to her story

And we’re back! I’ve always known my guest, Jennie Park, to be an amazing teacher with a huge heart for her students. She started her teaching career in the Atlanta public school system in 2017,  and has recently transitioned into a new position in the education system where she works with teachers on how to creatively and effectively incorporate technology in the classroom. Never knew that was even a thing!

Grateful for Remotiv COO, Brian Kim, who took time on this week’s episode to educate me on the importance of planning for the future. Remotiv is a FinTech platform that helps companies and their employees “improve their saving habits and increase the effective utilization of their retirement plan.” Listen to hear more about Brian’s role in the company and why he decided to study industrial engineering in college.

Have you ever considered a career in stunt acting? This week’s guest, Victor Chong, had every intention of becoming a doctor. However, his background in gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do combined with his love to perform and an opportunity led him into a career in stunt acting. Listen to this episode to learn more about different types of stunt acting, what type of training is necessary to be a successful stunt man, and the types of shows Victor has worked on.

My guest and friend, Andrew Song, recently took on a new job as operations program manager for PGA Tour Superstore and in this week’s episode he explains why this has been the perfect job for him. To be honest, we don’t chat too much about the job itself, but rather Andrew shares with me what it has been like for him and his family to step down from his job as a church pastor for over a decade and step into a new and different chapter of life. I loved getting the chance to talk with Jeff about what the G league is, his time as a college basketball coach, and the genesis of the instagram feed that started it all (and now has over 100k followers!)

On this week’s episode hang out with me and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Joanne Lee. We have had an NP on the podcast before, but Joanne gives us a different perspective as a provider at an OBGYN office and she also shares why she is passionate about educating young girls about their bodies.

Honestly, I had so many questions with this one. 😂 I am thankful for my guest, Gabe Auyeung, who was able to walk me through some of what it means to be a computer engineer. But computer engineering and software development is just a fraction of what it means to be chief of staff to a C Suite executive at PayPal.
