E82: Get Radical with Liz Edlich
About Liz: As the daughter of world-renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Richard F. Edlich, Liz Edlich and her sister Rachel grew up in their father’s labs and were constantly exposed to skin rejuvenation and wound healing. She proceeded to go into the skincare industry and developed around 100 different products for celebrities and television for 10-15 years, alongside Rachel. It wasn’t until the two sisters experienced issues with their own skin that they decided to begin a new venture. At the age of 45, Liz Edlich realize that her skin wasn’t the same. She found that “gravity had hit” and wrinkles, hair, hormones and weight all seemed to be out of her control. Additionally, Rachel suddenly began to suffer from rosacea. The sisters then set out on their own mission: to create a skincare product that could be Liz’s anti-ageing solution but was also formulated to heal and cater to Rachel’s sensitive skin. Once created, Liz had only used the product for 2 weeks before she found herself inundated with comments from co-workers about what she was using – something that had never happened to her before. Rachel’s rosacea also cleared after 30 days and they knew they were on to something special. After testing the product in the lab, they discovered that it outperformed numerous other brands in potency and before they knew it, Radical Skincare was born. Liz is adamant that the products created are only those that are truly needed in the market. She bases her decision for product creation on what she and her friends require and sets out to create a multitasking product to target the issues. Her biggest priority is to make a difference, not just to people’s skin, but to their lives. She constantly calls upon her experiences with some of the biggest success coaches in the world and applies that passion to how she can use Radical Skincare to better the lives of others. Radical Skincare has now been taken from 2 Barneys stores in New York and Los Angeles to 16 countries and 800 stores. The brand can now be found in Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, QVC, Fenwick’s, Harvey Nichols, all Space NK stores and now Harrods – and it only continues to grow. S3:E16- Take the Risk! with Frank Mengert
About Frank: Every day, I wake up inspired to be a better version of myself. I do this by using three principles: 🅻🅴🅰🆁🅽, 🅲🆁🅴🅰🆃🅴 & 🆂🅷🅰🆁🅴 ❶ 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 something new. ❷ 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 something that didn't exist. ❸ 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 something with someone. In May of 2018, I had the opportunity to meet Gary Vaynerchuk. Among the many pieces of advice he gave me one that impacted me the most was this: “𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙤 𝙤𝙣 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙚𝙙𝙄𝙣, 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮.” I didn’t take that advice until November but he was right. LinkedIn has changed my life. ➨ 𝐌𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐅𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘: In 2003 I went into work, just like any other day. However this day, I was laid off. It devastated me and threw my “game plan” for life in a spiral. I made the decision to take my side-hustle at the time and turn it into my main hustle building my first company. Today, I am on my fourth company, ebm, which is one of the largest employee benefits technology platform providers in the nation. We help benefit consultants, carriers and enrollment firms attract, win & retain business acting as an extension of their team providing expert technology services to organizations nationwide. S3:E9- The Internet Marketing Nerd with Paul Getter
Paul Getter is a friend first and top-tier internet marketer second. Paul’s internet marketing career began in desperation. Recently fired and without any prospects, he discovered the power of social media. Without any formal education in marketing, he committed himself to learning every aspect of social media marketing. Fast forward a few years and he has now spent over one billion dollars running ads and campaigns for his clients, is in the top 1% of ad spenders on Facebook, and has over 1 million followers on Instagram. But Paul knows that platforms like Facebook and Instagram are just tools. They're not the objective. The objective is getting results for his clients. Just a sampling of his successes include boosting the popularity of TV shows, skyrocketing authors onto the New York Times best-sellers list, elevating Fortune 500 companies, and helping numerous A-list celebrities and small-platform personalities gain millions of social media followers. But don't get the wrong idea that Paul only works with household brand names or personalities who have already achieved fame and influence (such as Alex Mehr, Tai Lopez, and Les Brown, just to name just a few). On the contrary, Paul is absolutely passionate about collaborating with anyone who is wholeheartedly dedicated to sharing their awesome ideas with the world. Paul works with each client in a deeply personal way. People trust him, refer him to their friends and colleagues, and come back to work with him because he cares for them as people. Ethical to the core, Paul has declined numerous lucrative opportunities that didn't align with his principals. He lives in Florida with his wife and three brilliant kids. When not spending time with his family or placing his order a local Starbucks—tall nonfat mocha, please—you might find him in a third-world country camping in huts with no water or electricity. His heart is for the homeless and people in impoverished countries. Paul himself grew up in a low income home, facing many challenges growing up. He has served on the board for a large homeless nonprofit organization that helps those in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. His hobbies include running, reading and optimizing funnels. S3:E4- Becoming a Master of Emotional Relevance with Alon Zaibert
About Alon: You know how sometimes you meet someone and after a few seconds you just FEEL there is something there? You can tell there is a connection, an energy of sorts? Well, this is how I am all the time. I feel the room, I read people, I sense the energy and act upon it. Along the years many people have asked me, hey Alon, how do you THAT? For me, THAT was natural but for others not so much. So I spent a couple of years analyzing THAT, breaking it down, learning about it, from a psychology standpoint, from a scientific angle, and figured it out. I call it - Emotional Relevance. And now I teach and coach executives, sales teams, customer relationship managers how to use Emotional Relevance when building relationships with their new and existing customers in order to increase their closing rates, grow customer retention level and boost loyalty. I truly believe it is time we inject more humanity into the corporate "dance" we've been taught all these years and challenge ourselves to do what we NEED as humans - be vulnerable, share feelings, be personal. Underneath that corporate attire we all are social creatures who crave the hug, the sense of belonging, the connection so why not? I have worked with small start-up companies and huge multi-billion dollars conglomerates. Every team I was part of or managed, our difference has always been that emotional, personal touch. Not everyone gets it but they sure FEEL it. In this episode we discuss: Alon's upbringing His love for sports What he did after High School A tragedy that took place What moved him from Israel to the USA What he does today And more! S2:E29- From Engineering to starting a University with Dr. Donald Hecht
About Dr. Hecht: My educational experience first began when I took a high school assessment test saying I’d be good at engineering, and I enjoyed the design part of this field. I earned my degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University. Then wanted to acquire my MBA, but did not have a business background, so I went to Colombia University and received my master’s in industrial engineering. However, being a people person and having my Master of Science, I decided to go into teaching High School and Community College for over ten years. I wanted to go into full-time college teaching, but did not have the degree so, I went back to school to obtain my Doctor of Science in Industrial and Management engineering going from an instructor to professor. However, throughout that time, it was very difficult to earn the Sc.D. degree. I was still working as a full-time teacher, had a family to take care of, had a 40-mile commute, and was only able to take classes after hours because the school was not accommodating to my schedule as a part time student and professor. I finally finished my doctorate at the age of forty-three. While I worked as a dean for working-class students trying to earn their master’s degree in the evenings, I saw how tired my students were. They all had different learning habits, a hard time staying awake, and struggled to afford their classes. I tried to fight the system to accommodate for these students, yet I did not have much leeway to teach as I wanted to. All these experiences motivated me to found California Southern University because I understand the difficulties to earning a degree while juggling life’s challenges. I wanted to change the educational structure, where students’ backgrounds and college testing scores aren’t the main factor. At CalSouthern we define our students as learners, because they are the center of the process. I want the learner to be the focus so they can reach their goals, can afford their classes, and avoid being in debt to earn a practical education and degree that sets them up for their future. Your outcome is what’s important and CalSouthern wants to provide the learners with the best opportunities for success. After running the school on my own for a few years through pen and paper, the university began to evolve from phone and mail to 100% online accredited institution honoring learners intellectual and individualistic freedom. S2:E18- Creating Moon Cycle Bakery with Devon Loftus
Meet Devon Loftus– founder of Moon Cycle Bakery, a one-of-a-kind hormone-supportive natural sweet treat delivery service. Loftus launched Moon Cycle Bakery in 2017 with the goal of helping people regain their sense of empowerment, and to help others find support during cycles that can be challenging and alienating. Today, Moon Cycle Bakery's mission is to help individuals traverse the various seasons of womanhood, not only through treats but through education, real conversations, self-care practices and whimsical-meets-raw story telling (her favorite). Recipe development is a team effort between Loftus and her team of experts, which include nutritionists, herbalists and acupuncturists. Each ingredient is carefully selected to ensure support of the female body during various parts of their cycles focusing on micro and macro nutrients. “Moon Cycle Bakery is a small team of people who genuinely care about the well being of others, our bodies, and the knowledge that continues to support it. We take the time to read studies, discuss recipes with experts, and collaborate with high-quality, integrity driven brands," explains Loftus, “We care, so we don’t make claims." Where did the idea come from? During Devon’s “west coast bachelorette party,” her now husband, Brian, walked into the bar with a homemade 3 tiered chocolate cake with cookie dough icing and chocolate ganache. Devon’s friend tapped Brian on the shoulder and said, “I just needed to tell you, this is the best thing I have ever eaten. And I don’t know if it’s because I’m about to get my period or not, but I almost cried.” Needless to say, Devon was completely in love with such an honorable and real reaction and with a huge smile Devon assured her: “Don’t worry — we’ll bring you a slice every month.” A Moon Cycle Bakery holistic cookbook is also in the works, co-authored by Devon Loftus and Jenna Radomski (Moon Cycle's team nutritionist and recipe developer), set to be released in Fall 2021 by Storey Publishing. Prior to launching her own business, Loftus wrote for a women’s lifestyle website owned by Meredith Corp. and experienced the fast-paced life of the fashion industry during her stay at Gymboree Corp designing children's accessories. She started her own clothing line, which taught her how to collaborate, find factories, build a team, understand profit, and more. During this period Loftus battled a variety of health issues, some of them hormonal, triggered by work stress and lack of education in regards to her health and her body. She quickly learned how crucial self-care is and how important personalized health care is to ones wellbeing. Loftus has a B.A. in Creative Writing and Journalism, and studied product development at FIDM. In her spare time Devon enjoys writing, spending time with her family and friends, playing the ukulele, and connecting with nature. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband Brian, son Kit, and their dog Olive. In this episode you'll, learn all about Devon's journey from sports to entrepreneurship and everything in between! Connect with Devon:  Website: Instagram: Enjoy the the show?
