In the final episode of season one, I share a Blessedtimony on my “Birthday Scripture”, Colossians 3:23! “What is a Birthday Scripture?” you ask, well my Birthday is March 23rd or 3/23. I like to search scriptures that with the chapter 3 and verse 23 just as a fun way to see what they say.

In this episode I go into how Colossian 3:23 has manifested in my entire life, but it wasn’t until I gave my life to Christ before it had a true meaning to me. You’ll have to listen to the show for an explanation of the verse, my Blessedtimony, and a sneak peak of what to expect from season two.

A lot of times Christians can get caught up on what is and is not a sin. However, James 4:17 reminds us that if we know what is good, and do not do it, then we have sinned. This episode I catch up with a good friend from High School, Marilys E. Rogers! This is my girl, and she recently posted on social media her frustration from a young Black woman who was murdered by a Black Male.

She questioned why do we harm each other and worse why don’t people step up and stop violence towards women when we witness it. This is a must hear episode, I speak on a time where I failed to do the right thing and then provide tips on what we can do to prevent domestic violence when it occurs. If you know the right thing to do, and don’t do it, you have sinned, so please do the right thing.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.' (Matthew 28:18)

The Great Commission! Jesus instructed us to go into the world and teach and baptize. This is the core of discipleship, which is all about teaching others about Christ so they can go and do the same! This is how the world will have the opportunity to hear the good news and be saved from the righteous judgment we all deserve. Thankfully with technology we are able to reach corners of the world most of us will never travel.

However, my Guest, Cathrine Ligard takes the great commission to another level. Cathrine and her husband Vidar has a ministry called Safari Mission where they train leaders in Africa so they can in turn go and do the same for their people. Cathrine shares her Blessedtimony on the Great Commission and how it has blessed her and many others in East Africa.

One of the biggest obstacles to people forming a relationship with Christ is people who claim to be Christians but necessary living by Christ teachings. In this episode we are in Hebrews chapter 12 verses 1-2 and we are instructed to strip off the sin that weigh us down especially since we are surrounded by a crowd of witnesses. We live in a world where people love their sin and don’t want to give it up, it does not help if the people who represent Christ are living similar lives. Our sins cause us to stumble and if we stay in them too long they have a way of killing our purpose, our relationship with Christ and ultimately our lives.

My Guest, Shanine shares her Blessedtimony on Hebrews 12:1-2 and how she decided to trust God and go through the process of sanctification. She describes how we need to continue to strive to be more like Christ and do what is right according to His word.

In this episode we are in Ecclesiastes chapter 3 verse 11 and this book will have you really questioning what is the purpose of life. What is it that God is doing and what does He expect from us? In fact, Ecclesiastes 3:11 makes it clear that God has made everything beautiful in its time but he also put eternity in our hearts so we cannot fully understand his plans. Therefore, it is critical that we put our trust in Him and realize he has a plan, He know what He is doing, and it is our job to submit to His will and not ours.

In this episode we do something a little unorthodox for the Blessedtimony Podcast, we take on two Bible scriptures. The first is Deuteronomy 31:6-8 and the second is Joshua 1:9. Both has a valuable lesson on leadership in them and who better to have speak on leadership then someone who not only did 25 years in the U.S. Air Force but also help command the organization responsible for training leaders.

In this episode Retired Chief Master Sergeant Todd Simmons open’s up with his testimony, while at the same time providing valuable leadership tips for anyone who seeks to be a better leader.

Last episode I interviewed a person who identifies as spiritual but not a Christian. Therefore, this week do not have the normal bonus episode of why do you believe in God, but I do have something for you.

A while back I had the chance of preaching and I touched on a very tough topic. The Book of Romans speak on what is needed for salvation and this is commonly known as the salvation prayer. Some believe this is all you have to do and you are saved forever, some disagree. For me I truly believe what Romans 10:9 say but I also questioned scriptures like Matthew 7:21-23 where it states that Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom…

Is this a contradiction? If I say the Salvation Prayer, can I guarantee my salvation? The truth is we have to share the who story when we are sharing the Gospel. They answer to this question, I believe is found in the story of the Rich Young Ruler. See Jesus knows your heart, and the question is, do you really believe in your heart when you say the salvation prayer? Or is there something you hold in your heart that is more valuable then following Christ? Listen to this episode and find out!

In this episode we are in John 6 verses 63-67 and I am interviewing John. John is a very successful Podcast Host and Author that identifies as spiritual. The only issue is that not only does John not believe in Christ, he was once a believer and walked away from the faith. The same exact thing took place in John 6:63-67 and led Jesus to asking His twelve Disciples will they walk away from the faith as well. This is an episode you don’t want to miss, as disciples we have to be willing to minister to the lost and do it with love. That was my attempt at asking John on the show. I really just wanted to see his point of view and make sense of what he meant by spiritual. Not only that I got to share my views as well in a non-hostile/argumentative setting.

Sherri Simmons is a wife and a mother to her beagle K.B.  She is the oldest of four children (two sisters and one brother) and the aunt to three nephews.  She has been an educator in the Chicago Public Schools for 14 years, where she has taught 3rd, 1st, Intermediate Math, served as an Assistant Principal, and is currently working as an S.T.E.M. Integration Specialist.  She is also the Founder and President of Young Ladies At All Times, N.F.P. (Y.L.A.A.T.), a mentoring program for young girls and a member of Young Women's Professional League (Y.W.P.L.).  She began writing Underneath the Hat in 2013 after her separation from her first husband.  The book served as therapy for her to get through the ordeal.  She hopes that others will be helped as they learn through her journey of rediscovering who she is by revealing what's Underneath the Hat.

As the Holy Spirit moves me and give me ideas, I will make random post to help you grow in your relationship with Christ (feel free to share any ideas for the show). As a result, we will kick off the bonus content with a segment called “Why do you believe in Jesus?”. Every time I interview someone, I will ask them two questions:

1.  Why do you believe in God/Jesus?

2.  Why is it important to share your testimony?

1 Peter 3:15 reminds us to always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who ask you for a reason for the hope in you. In other words, why do you have faith in Christ? Therefore, I believe it will be a blessing if we had a repository of reasons to believe in Christ and share your testimony. The very first segment comes from Karey Lee, my Stepdad. The point of a podcast is for those who like to listen instead of read (like me for example). No, I’m kidding but I will make this short and quick:

In Episode 0 of the Blessedtimony Podcast I explained what a Blessedtimony is. I am sure you can make an educated guess and figure it out but I will break it down for you. It is a play on two words “Blessed” and “Testimony” and simply put it is a way to help people understand Bible Scriptures by explaining them and then sharing their testimony on how that scripture has actually happened in their lives.
