Ep. 44 - A Revelation, George Floyd memorial, Anti-racism, and Action #staywoke

In this episode, we continue our courageous conversation and the discussion of why #BlackLivesMatter, THEN and NOW! The month of June would typically be a time of celebration for graduates, the start of summer vacation, and plenty of summer fun festivities! However, as the world continues to manage in a new norm, in the midst of a pandemic, the recent death of George Floyd, along with Ahmad Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, has amplified the social injustices and marginalization of Black people in America. This has been a time of revelation, in a world that has ignored and dismissed the effects of racism, and systemic oppression for the past 400+ years. Ep. 42 - Preparation in a Pandemic: Estate planning, Wills, and Trusts w/Lauren N. Peebles

Ep. 42 - Preparation in a Pandemic: Estate planning, Wills, and Trusts w/Lauren N. Peebles

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this month's theme is dedicated to taking the #maskoff (figuratively).   In this episode, we invited special guest Lauren N. Peebles, ESQ to discuss estate planning (wills, trusts, advanced healthcare directives, power of attorney, etc) and the importance of "preparation in a pandemic" ! #CoronaChronicles

If something happened to you, have you made the appropriate provisions for you and your family? If you became unable to make decisions on your own behalf, who can? If you unexpectantly passed away (or your parent), will your family be able to properly grieve, or will they be too busy trying to put the financial, and legal pieces together? Will they be fighting with each other over who gets, or handles what? Especially with the way Covid-19 has been effecting the Black community, it’s time to get our house in order.

Call to action:

  1. Start thinking about what you want to happen if something were to happen to you
  2. Establish your Advanced Healthcare Directive and Power of Attorney
  3. Research trusted attorney's that specializes in Estate Planning
  4. Don't wait until it's too late
