ABC Australia: TGN takes Melbourne
Our founder Rachel headed over to Melbourne, Australia, a place where she feels very much at home, to host a Grief Network session there with our friends across the pond. Here, she speaks to Sammy at ABC Australia about what TGN is, and why it's travelled across the seas.
#StillGrieving: a launch
The Grief Network was created to tackle the lack of resources for grieving young people. Having run meet-ups for just over a year, we’re now expanding. As we grow, we want to become a hub for young people to connect with services that suit them, as well as a movement that raises awareness of the distinct difficulties that come with mourning a life, just as yours is beginning. Our first event, #StillGrieving, was held on Wednesday 2 October, in Shoreditch, where we hosted a panel talk featuring Cariad Lloyd of Grief Cast, award-winning podcaster, comedian, writer, actress, and all-round grief-throb; Felix White, Maccabees guitarist and Tailenders host who has written about the intersections of grief and cricket and has appeared on Grief Cast with Cariad Lloyd; and Theresa Lola, Young People's Laureate for London whose debut poetry collection, In Search of Equilibrium, investigates death, faith, family and mental health.
