Business BLAB - How To Recognize Signs Of Burnout
As I was going to write this episode, I was feeling pretty meh about it. We all know what burnout is, we all have a general idea of how it feels, but what are the signs that happen to lead up to burnout and how do we know if we are about to head into the dark territory. If I’m being transparent, as I’m writing this episode, I realized I’m currently living in burn out zone.. And I need to get out! I knew I was tired, overwhelmed, and feeling a little down, but I wish I would have noticed some of the other signs before I got to where I am. Because now, like so many of you listening, I have to dig my way out, clear my head, recharge, adjust, and get back to a healthy place. So, since I’m clearly no expert in this- I took to my bff google and found some very helpful information on the topic! Some of what I read I already knew, but many signs I’ve noticed and didn’t attribute to burnout. So, I’m going to share what I found with you and give some of my insights. Check out this article for more! https://www.helpguide.org/articles/stress/burnout-prevention-and-recovery.htm# Ok, what are some of the things we may notice if we are on the road to burnout out? Every day is a bad day. Caring about your work or home life seems like a total waste of energy. You’re exhausted all the time. The majority of your day is spent on tasks you find either mind-numbingly dull or overwhelming. You feel like nothing you do makes a difference or is appreciated. Ring a bell? Yikes…. ALL OF THESE THINGS have been happening over here! I thought I was depressed or being dramatic, but it turns out I’m on my way to burn out and I need to stop it! Luckily you don’t just wake up one morning and feel burned out. It happens gradually over time, but if you aren’t paying attention it can hit you like a ton of bricks. Burnout manifests itself in a few different ways, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and not all of them are super obvious. This episode covers the most useful list I found on the internet that I’ve experienced, and I think will be helpful for anyone who may be on the same path. I’m going to go through these and see which I’m experiencing/have experienced and I want you to do the same. Burnout as a whole can be experienced by anyone who feels overworked and undervalued (aka motherhood hahah), but doesn’t have to be a normal part of our lives! I’m hoping that we can use these signs to help us stop the burnout before it happens! Also being vocal about our priorities, wants and needs, and drawing some clear boundaries for ourselves and our families will help us stay in a healthy mindset. I’ll keep you posted on how I get out of burnout mode, and will do a future episode on how to get back on track! How do you stop burnout from happening? Are you experiencing it now? Are You Ready To Ditch Everything You Know About Social Media? Exclusive Sneak Peek Into How!
AN EXCLUSIVE SNEEK PEAK INTO MY NEW SOCIAL MEDIA PROGRAM. FIRST TO KNOW INFO AND DISCOUNT CODE INCLUDED!  Everywhere we turn we hear how important social media is to our businesses. The “gurus” are screaming from the roof tops about what we SHOULD be doing, how many times a day we need to post, new strategies that are “the only way”, and setting the standard of what makes you a “success” on social media. … is this ringing a bell? How many times have you showed up to use social media for your business and just felt a complete wave of overwhelm? It literally takes over your body, and all the shoulds and strategies are screaming louder than the next until YOU JUST CAN’T EVEN!!! Sound familiar? You start to question yourself, maybe you even lose yourself in the shuffle, as you are doing everything you can to “keep up”... and probably not seeing the results you’ve been promised. Can you feel that in your gut? The regret? The loss of identity? The false authenticity, in a time where people are craving REAL human connection more than ever? I’ve been there… not too long ago even. And if you’re still listening, I could bet you have to. We get so consumed with trying to be like everyone else in order to grow, that we end up doing the exact opposite. It is time to start making social media work FOR YOU! There is no one size fits all..  at least, not when you are ready to ditch the BSing and commit to being real. People are tired of seeing the cookie cutter, curated, could have came from anyone, no personality, showing up only because of the posting quota type of posts. They are ready to see YOU! To relate with you, to connect with you, and to buy what YOU are selling. The type of you that;s been clawing to get out, but because you are trying to keep up, keeps getting pushed to the side and talked down to. The side of you that has a fresh take, a new idea, or a REAL HUMAN moment that needs to be shared with the world. Imagine the pressure you can take off of yourself when you decide to stop doing what everyone tells you and start using social media in a way that works for YOUR LIFE! Imagine social media being fun and social again. Imagine creating a strategy that blends in with your day to day tasks, and become something you’re excited to work on! Imagine leaving your scroll time feeling positive, inspired, and comfortable with your presence and who you are. These things are all possible! And, the best part, totally within your reach.Sure, there are proven strategies that work on social media, but they aren’t the only way. And if you continue to force yourself to show up when you can’t, or overcommit, these proven strategies will never work for you. You have to create a strategy that fits into your life. A strategy that you can comfortably commit to, and build upon. Your family, your audience, and most of all YOU, will be so happy when you check your ego and start listening to what’s really important. So, are you ready to ditch your social media struggles and have some fun? My upcoming 5 week social media course will walk you through just how to do this! In just over a month, you can have your life back, inspire those around you, make an impact  and start growing real connections on your social platforms! It is time to make social media fun again! And I want to give you first dibs on a seat at the table!  *EMAIL MEGAN@BOSSLADIESANDBABIES.COM OR DM ON INSTA @BOSSLADIESANDBABIES FOR DISCOUNT CODE

Business BLAB - How To Track The ROI For Your Time
Have you heard about the movement to kick hustle culture to the curb? I’m so excited about this, and more and more women are speaking out about it! We get so caught up being busy because we feel like we have to, and often we end up working too much, for too little, and feeling burnt out and horrible about ourselves. Along with the mindset shift (more on this in a later episode), it’s important that we are aware of where our time is being spent when we do “hustle” and what ROI (return on investment) we are actually getting. Now ROI can be the return on TIME investment or financial investment. Both are equally as important to pay attention to! It is basically the amount you get back vs the amount you put in. Today, we are going to talk about time!! “Knowing your returns on the investment of your time, you can make changes to your business model that allow you to earn greater revenue in less time.” So there is a standard formula for time or financial investments you can use to get started: Profit / total investment Example from thebalancsemb.com Consider your time as an investment- If you're making $3,000 per month, but working 60 hours a week on your business (240 hours a month), your ROI is 3,000/240 =  12.5. That means for every hour you're working, you're only earning $12.50. Here is how to audit your time and track your RO(time)I: Have a goal in mind and a way to measure if you’ve made a profit. Track your time-Pay attention to where you time is going Detail every single business activity What are your income producing tasks What are your tasks that don’t provide income, but encourage growth and cannot be removed What tasks can be outsourced - and when you outsource pay attention to if the amount you;re paying is actually leading to an increase in time and income. What tasks are producing leads What tasks can be removed from your business Have you payed attention to ROI on your time? Are you spending too much time doing things that don’t move the needle because “everyone else is doing it”? Get in tune with your business and your audience. What do they need? What’s working? Where are you having most success? Once you start paying attention, you’ll be able to truly make the most out of your business! Let me know at megan@bossladiesandbabies.com

Normalizing The Motherhood Driven Career Break
Have you thought about a career break? Maybe you're in the middle of one right now, or just returning. No matter if you have, are, or are thinking about taking a career break, it is time we normalize this conversation! Mothers everywhere were taking career breaks for years, but in 2020 many women had to make the difficult choice and do what was best for their families. In this episode -Janice Scholl- joins me to share her knowledge and passion about normalizing motherhood driven career breaks. We cover what a career break is, why someone may take one, what happens if it becomes more than just a break, and ways that you can maintain your identity through the changes. Career breaks tend to get a bad rap, and can leave women feeling like they've "failed". Janice shares some insightful mindset shifts and daily habits that can help ditch the feelings of negativity associated with the privilege of making the challenging choice to take a career break. The episode ends with mic drop advice on how to balance business and motherhood, and a classic Janice Scholl hot mess moment (check out her last episode on our podcast to hear another hot mess story, she has the best!) Parenting During A Pandemic- An Open Conversation About The Struggles Of Navigating Parenthood & COVID
*TRIGGER WARNING: If your mental health is not in a space to handle talks about COVID-19, the Delta Variant putting children in the hospital, debate about anti-vax/anti-mask. or anything health related, please skip this episode or tune in at a later time.  COVID-19 has divided families, broken friendships, ended marriages, and caused enormous amounts of trauma for so many of us. But, one thing we can all agree on is that parenting during this pandemic is challenging (understatement of the century). It can feel impossible to make the "right" decisions, and like no matter what we do, we are either risking our children's health or their childhood. It is unfair that we have to make these decisions, and can be very isolating. In this episode I am joined by the strong, brave, and vulnerable mama - Shamire Crummie- for a very open conversation about the struggles of navigating this pandemic as a mother. Shamire has a bachelors degree in Public Relations, a Master’s degree in Social Work, and has been a stay at home mom for 3 years after her son was born at 26 weeks and was in the NICU for 133 days. We talk about the lack of consideration for our children from the CDC's guidelines and fellow Americans, why the Delta Variant is so scary for parents, and how to handle our feelings of anger, fear, and isolation when it seems we cannot catch a break. Shamire opens up about her personal experiences with keeping her family safe during COVID, how to handle strange looks when being careful and masking up, and how she is able to find joy and take the time for self care. The pandemic isn't, and never was, over for us parents. This episode provides an opportunity for other mamas to relate, feel heard, and be reminded that you are not alone. Tune in for advice, support. and resources that can help any mamas struggling through this time.  If you are struggling with feelings of isolation, overwhelm, fear, or anything else related to your children's health and safety during this time, please don't hesitate to reach out to myself or Shamire for support. We are not Drs and cannot offers medical advice, but we are happy to continue the conversation and offer a safe place to let it out.  Check out these COVID Family Support Facebook Groups:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/3389465564494365/?ref=share https://www.facebook.com/groups/884141689010139/?ref=share Follow Shamire on Instagram @shamcrumm 🗣 Want to join the conversation? Business BLAB - How to Recognize and Battle Shiny Object Syndrome
We’ve all been there… we are just living our lives, grinding away at our business and BAM! Something new and shiny comes along and we drop everything and go all in on it! (cough cough clubhouse, cough cough reels…) Maybe it’s an opportunity, maybe it’s a new app, maybe we see everyone else doing it, maybe even a new idea that we can’t seem to quiet. Whatever it is, it is something that totally derails our flow. This is called Shiny Object Syndrome. And according to Wikipedia, Shiny object syndrome is the situation where people focus all their attention on something that is current and trendy (aka shiny compared to everything else you’re doing), yet drop this as soon as something new (and shinier) comes along and takes its place… I feel attacked… So how the heck do we fight this? And why does this happen to even the most focused of us? I have some thoughts… You know that you have experienced the shiny object syndrome if you can relate to the following: You have a list of business ideas but nothing gets executed. You constantly start new goals but never see them through to the end. You jump from one course to another, drawn by the wild claims of each course… etc. etc. and the list freaking goes onnnnnnn. So, we know what it is, and we see ourselves fall victim... but how the heck can we fight this? I have some tips! Get real with yourself Set solid goals Make a plan and stick to it Create a later list Find an accountability partner Quiet the noise Stop comparing Remember your WHY Stop fueling the FOMO Don’t beat yourself up Arm yourself with these tips, and you'll be less likely to be drawn to the shine. But, remember, it happens to the best of us, and it takes time and practice to resist. What has sparked your latest battle with shiny object syndrome? Let me know at megan@bossladiesandbabies.com

Finding Your Confidence On Social Media
Social media can be an amazing place to stay connected, find inspiration, and grow your business. But, it can also be an ugly place causing us to second guess ourselves, our lives, and our self worth. In this episode, I'm joined by the raw, real, and inspiring Body Confidence Influencer- Shanel Whitley. Shanel is a self proclaimed curvy and confident mom of 5 kid who has a commitment to keeping things raw and real. She has built her career around confidence, and has grown a very special space on the internet for women to feel supported. I was excited to talk to Shanel about body positivity and confidence, but this episode evolved into something even deeper than I expected.  Shanel has grown an amazing following, and she shares her journey to becoming an influencer on Instagram and TikTok, along with some tips on how you can grow your own social media following. She also open up about struggles and strategies to find confidence as women, mothers, imperfect humans, and how to continue to push forward when life throughs you curve balls. We discuss the importance of vulnerability, and how special and important it is to be confident enough to choose to how, when, and where to allow yourself to be vulnerable. Business BLAB - Instagram Reels 101
Ok, so last week I talked about the big changes happening over on the gram, and a big piece to that puzzle is reels. Love em’ or hate em’, they’re not going anywhere. And if you really want to stand out, boost your engagement, and grow organically on the platform, reels 100% must become part of your strategy! Let me be the first to say, I am NOT super excited about this. I love the idea of reels… but creating them is a whole nother story. People out there are so dang creative, and to execute the quality content they are is just not realistic for my life and schedule as of right now. But guess what, that’s fine! The most important thing is putting yourself out there, being real, and using reels in a way that works for you and your business! Here are some of the most common questions I get asked about reels: What are reels? Do I have to dance? How can I use reels to grow? Any tips for creation? How often to post a reel? Do I add it to my feed? What do you think about reels? Love em? Hate em? Let me know at megan@bossladiesandbabies.com

Business BLAB- What the Instagram Changes Mean for Your Business
Phew, have you heard the news about the Instagram changes? We were on our podcast break when this news dropped, and I knew I needed to do an episode about what happened… ICYMI or if you have questions, keep listening because I’m about to break it down. What happened, why you should care, what it means for your strategy, and what the heck you do now! So basically, Adam Mosseri the Chief of Insta, announced that Insta is “no longer a square photo sharing app”.... And we are all shookith. He went on to say that people are mostly using the gram to be entertained, and video is clearly taking the lead when it comes to entertainment. He cited competition from TikTok and Youtube as a reason for the change, and basically reiterates what we all knew… the times they are a changin’. I heard someone say that Instagram has imposter syndrome, and I kind of agree. The simplicity of the photo sharing on this platform has grown it to what it is today, but of course trends change. People’s wants and needs change, and it makes sense to want to “keep up”. Adam did come back out and tweet that he mean to say “we’re not *just* a photo sharing app” anymore… so let’s take a collective exhale because our whole Insta lives are not being cancelled… just shook up a little. ✨Mix up your strategy ✨Lean into video ✨Stay true to your message ✨Get comfy with short format video - Entertain, educate, inspire ✨Beef up the “entertaining” content ✨Make a plan for new follower connection - The new algorithms will actually organically drive more new traffic to your page, especially reels! So there you have it. The world isn’t ending, but it sure felt like it at first! You’ve gotta love Instagram… they always keep us on our toes. At the end of the day, you can use the platform however you want to use it! Afterall, social media is only a piece of our business, it’s not the whole thing. Do you, do what you feel good with, and be open to expanding when you’re ready. What are your thoughts on these changes? Let me know at megan@bossladiesandbabies.com

Business BLAB - Creating a Clubhouse Strategy
Have you heard about clubhouse?! If you’re new around here, you’ll quickly realize that I’m OBSESSED! It is the BEST app I have ever used, and that is not an exaggeration. The connections you can make with people from this app are so instant, so organic, and so powerful, that it has become the driving lead source for my business. And it’s FUN! All you have to do is show up, listen, be yourself, and watch the magic happen. But, as easy as that sounds, it does help to have a little strategy in place so you don’t miss out on anything… or get overwhelmed! Here is my own clubhouse strategy that I’ve used to grow my business and create a strong presence on clubhouse! Block out time. Provide value Create a room schedule that works for you. Collab and co-mod. Manage your DMs. Track your leads. Have fun! CH is quickly becoming a favorite amongst many business owners! But, since it’s SO GOOD,  it can be a little overwhelming. Getting your strategy in place is key to get the most of this app and avoid burnout. Do you have a CH strategy in place? I’d love to hear it! Business BLAB - What Are Branding Words
Have you heard about “branding words?” Kelsey Kurtis was the person who introduced me to the concept of branding words many years ago. She is a pro when it comes to teaching you how to develop these words and make them part of who you are. The idea of branding words is just starting to catch on, but have been around for a while. Your marketingbff.com says branding words are descriptors you want people to use to endorse your business. These are words that define you, your work, and what clients get by working with you…. Words you hope people are using when you’re not around. These are the words you want others to use to describe you when you’re not around. They are the impression that you want to leave on other people. They are powerful! And you can start taking control of planting these little branding word seeds today! So, start thinking about what words you want people to use to describe. Start thinking about what words they may already be using to describe you. Make a list! Maybe even throw out a post on social media or ask your friends and followers to tell you a couple words that come to mind when they think of you. Once you start paying attention you will notice words that keep repeating themselves, and you can start to narrow down the words you want to be associated with. What do you think your branding words are? Email me at Megan@bossladiesandbabies.com and let me know!

Business BLAB - Finding Your Unique Balance
Ok boss ladies, I wanted to take some time this week to address the buzz around the word “balance”. I use this word A LOT… in my content, in my programs, and even the book we are writing that has a major focus on creating balance around work and parenthood. This word is quickly becoming a no-no and it’s time that we get clear on what this word really means… because we really do want and need balance in our lives… it just may not be what we think it is! I feel like we are seeing this word all over the place, and it shouldn't have to be a thing that causes us to cringe. We have the power to take control of this word and create the kind of “balance” that really works for our life! So, let’s get clear on how we can strive towards finding our unique balance and truly relax into our lives! 👍Ditch the shoulds 👍Take a look at your life now 👍Set priorities and boundaries 👍Be flexible So there you have! I challenge you to take on some of these tips and starting taking control of what balance means in your life. We all want balance, but it’s up to us to decide what that actually means to us. Business BLAB - Why You Need an Email List
If you’ve been around the biz block you might be hearing people talking up email marketing...like a ton! For the longest time I turned my nose up to email marketing thinking it was old, outdated, or just not “for me”... but the truth is, it’s the only thing that is really “for us”. I’m sure you all know this, but we don’t own our social media followers. Sure, it feels like the are “ours” because they choose to follow our pages, but the cold hard truth is that if social media goes away…. So would most of our businesses. And, another cold hard truth is…. You probably aren’t really “selling” as much on social as you think you are. So, I decided to get over myself and make the leap into email marketing. Now, be forewarned, I am by no means an expert on this. In fact, I’m a complete newbie… and a lot of you may know this already… but for those who are thinking about dipping your toes in, I’m going to share some of the tips I’ve found so far. There will likely be a part two once I learn more! 📧 Find a platform and go all in 📧Make sure your emails are branded to you 📧Use you voice 📧Create a lead magnet 📧Create workflows and tags for people 📧Stay consistent, but don’t be annoying 📧Use your emails as a way to elaborate on your social content 📧Always add a CTA 📧Give them a reason to come back!

Business BLAB- Getting to Know Your Personal Brand
Ah, the art of a personal brand! Making the decision to build your business around who you are, and leveraging the personal and emotional side of business. I think you all know me by now, and you may be sick of me talking about the brand YOU…. but this is really what it’s all about! Being WHO you are! Because guess what? You already have a personal brand, whether you know it or not, so you might as well be intentional with how you work it! Here are a few of my favorite tips on how to take your personal brand and create the YOU we have all been waiting for! Be kind to yourself Take care of YOU so you can take care of your brand Be a human Incorporate the things you like into your business Own your stuff I could go on all day, but I will leave you with these to get started. There are studies on studies that show that being a human being and showcasing your personal brand will bring you more success! People will choose the person they know, like, and trust, and have things in common with over someone they don’t… even if the name is bigger… even if the prices are better… So, tell me… what does your personal brand say about you? Is it showing who you are? Are you showing up intentionally?... or just letting it happen! Business BLAB- How to Use Instagram Reels
Ah, Instagram… they have to take everything and make it their own. I have such a love/hate relationship with the gram’... but if you’re going to be using this app, you’ve got to get on board with REELS! Reels are basically Instas take on TikTok videos. And in case that still isn’t ringing a bell, I’m talking short-format videos. Short format videos are taking over marketing, and Instagram is being especially picky about us using them. So, I’m here to help! Let’s break down what they are and how they can help your business! Here are some of the most common questions I get about reels: What are they and how do use them? Reels are a great way to be creative and show your audience a different side of who you are. You can be silly, share tips, or even offer promotions through these short videos. Just like TikTok, you can add music and find trending sounds to get more exposure. What kind of reels to make? Reels are mostly used to do these three things: Inspire, Educate, or Entertain How often should you post a reel? The answer depends on how often you are using the app. Ideally, Insta wants to see MULTIPLE reels per week, but some are better than none. Do I have to dance? Nope! You don’t have to do anything that isn’t true to who you are! You can use trending sounds and do something completely different than what everyone else is doing. What’s the benefit? Besides society’s short attention span and keeping things short for them, Insta seems to be really pushing reels into the algorithm. Can I just copy my TikTok videos? Yes and no! You can definitely repurpose your TikTok videos, but be careful of the TikTok watermark. ….Do I have to? Sadly, the answer is yes! Reels aren’t going anywhere! And neither is short format video. I’m pretty new to reels myself, and really only have the capacity to commit to one reel per week. It’s been a learning curve, but I’m having fun coming up with different content that is making me feel happy! I love being able to show up in a new way for my audience, and some of the trends are actually really fun!

Millennial Myths
🎉Have you heard the big news? We are co-authoring our first book! We're writing with one other powerhouse Mama, and it's written for Millennials! We are so excited and can't wait to share our journey with you. Speaking of Millennials, they sure get a bad rap these days. Us 80s and 90s kids (1981-1996 to be exact) make up the Millennial generation. There are so many stereotypes involving Millennials (ahem, avocado toast anyone?) so we wanted to set the record straight and share our take on these issues. In this episode we discuss the many industries we are blamed for killing- from cereal, casual dining and department stores to gyms, diamonds and American cheese! (good riddance, Kraft singles.) We talk marriage, parenthood and the debt many of us are drowning in. These are our opinions and experiences of course, but we do a pretty good job of defending our generation's honor! 🗣 Want to join the conversation? Business BLAB- How To Do Market Research
We talk so much about knowing your audience, pinpointing your ICA, and being the go-to girl for your clients and their needs. But, there is a way to get a head start on knowing exactly what they need, and getting ahead by providing a solution before they even ask… it’s not magic… it’s Market Research! Regular market research is going to help you stand out as the expert, and become/stay very relevant to your ICA’s needs. They might feel like you’re a mind-reader, but we know you’re just a smart and savvy boss lady out there doing the most! So, how do you make sure you’re doing enough, and the right, research? Follow these tips to get started! 🗣 Don’t be afraid to ask! If you don’t ask, you’ll never know! Have an idea but not sure it will land? Need to make sure a price point sounds right for your demographic? Have a lot of ideas, but not sure where to start or what will bring the most value? Just. Ask. 🗣 Make sure you’re asking the right people! Market research is pointless if it isn’t directly pulled from YOUR market. 🗣 Put yourself out there! Your audience might not know what questions they have until they have the opportunity to ask them. 🗣 Always be searching! Market research doesn’t have to just be a formal Q&A or poll. 🗣 Be open to evolving! You may find that your ICA’s needs evolve over time, which is why keeping up to date on your market research is crucial...but so is the willingness to evolve with them. Listen, grow, and step into being the expert! Your clients will thank you for meeting their needs and truly listening, and your business will continue to flourish!

Busness BLAB - How to Optimize Your Instagram Bio
You know what they say, first impression matter… and that isn’t any different for social media! When someone stops by your platform, you have a matter of literally seconds to impress them or convince them to keep scrolling! And, one of the biggest mistakes that we see people making is NOT optimizing their bio in a way that will make viewers want more! Optimizing your bio is your chance to speak directly to the person you can help, tell them why they need your help, how you can help them, and then direct them to sign up or purchase the thing you offer to help them! It can feel overwhelming, but you just have to go back to the basics! So, grab your phone and pull out the ol’ bio! Let’s dust off the cobwebs and make it sparkle! ✨So that first line… WHO YOU ARE (your name/title)- This is the name field on Instagram, and it is separate from your user name! ✨WHAT YOU DO- This is your chance to tell the people exactly who you help and HOW you do that! ✨WHO YOU SERVE- Just in case your ICA (ideal client avatar) was second guessing if what you do is for them, this is where you get to spell it out. ✨WHAT YOU OFFER- This is your call to action! ✨Now put it all together! If you have space, throw in some emojis to make it sparkle, and you’ve got yourself a fully optimized (client-attracting) Instagram bio! If you need help getting clear on any of these questions, determining your ICA, or figuring out how to use your voice to stand out, make sure you check out The Brand You Strategy! Enrollment is opening at the end of this week! Have questions? Contact Megan megan@bossladiesandbabies.com

Gratitude
It’s Thanksgiving, and though things look a bit different this year, we still have so much to be grateful for! Practicing gratitude isn’t just important each year in November, it is something that will benefit us year-round, and most successful and happy people have a strong gratitude game! When we think about the idea of being grateful, we have our go tos (family, partner, children), but we often don’t think of extending gratitude to ourselves as women and mamas. The idea of honoring ourselves is something that can be so powerful! In this episode, the Boss Ladies are joined by the founder of the Mornings for Mamas Movement and The Mornings for Mamas Podcast, Alison Ryan. Alison talks with us about honoring ourselves as mamas, the benefits of a morning practice, how and when to put our needs first, and so much more! Alison shares some vulnerable and powerful moments of her life that have brought her to where she is today and we are here for it! BLAB How to Build Your Audience
You have determined that the world needs what you have to offer, but how the heck do you get it in front of them?!? You need an audience! But how?!?! Growing your audience online seems like a simple task, but it can be harder than you may anticipate. Here is what we have learned as we have continued to (slowly) grow our platform 🙌 🤩Get your mindset right Slow and steady always wins- Chances are you won’t go from 100-10,000 overnight, and that is ok! What are you offering? Is your message clear? Do you believe in it? 🤩Make sure you are owning your product or services before you start trying to sell it to others. 🤩Don’t rely on your friends/family- Ouch! But take this wake up call from us now so that it stings a little less when you come to realize this on your own. Yes, our friends and family support the heck out of us, but in the heavily saturated social media land, they are feeling just as overload as the rest of us. 🤩Quality over quantity- Numbers don’t matter! Don’t build your audience with fake people! 🤩Put yourself out there- They won’t see you if you don’t get in front of them! 🤩Stay authentic- Ah, authenticity… the thing we all say we want to see online, but still aren’t getting! I’m the first to say I love a curated page, but being vulnerable and showing your audience who you are is a guaranteed way to connect. 🤩Make it easy- Don’t leave your audience guessing how to do the things you want from them. 🤩Listen- Yes, this is your thang… but you’re not the one buying it! Give your audience a voice and LISTEN to what they are telling you. 🤩Stay grateful- Your audience is CHOOSING you and that says a lot! They could be hanging out anywhere else online, but they are here supporting what you have to offer.

Mashed-up Families
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we wanted to take some time to discuss families. We talk about our families a lot- our spouses, our kids, sometimes our parents or in-laws. But we also recognize that families don’t all look the same. Not everyone has a Mom, a Dad, siblings, Grandparents, etc. Family structures and dynamics can be messy, mashed-up and complicated to say the least. Those are the families we discuss in this episode. Our guest - Seth Molano- shares with us his emotional journey from growing up in foster care and getting adopted, to finding his bio Dad and siblings. It's a wild ride, and Seth shares it all. His wife Felicia weighs in on Seth's resiliency and commends his role as Super-Dad. Mikki shares her two stories of finding long lost siblings on social media, and we discuss how our upbringings and relationships with our families have shaped us as parents. It's a deep, thoughtful conversation, so grab your tissues and join us.  🗣 Want to join the conversation? Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness
October is national Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, and in honor of so many women who have lost a child during pregnancy or in infancy, we wanted to share an open conversation about an important and, unfortunately, “taboo” topic. This is a topic that women need to continue to normalize being open about, because we are not grieving these losses alone💕 In this episode the Boss Ladies are joined by -Andrea Thayer- who shares her story, and offers hope and help for finding peace in life after loss. Andrea shares what her life is like now, and how her loss has impacted her view on motherhood and relationships. Andrea is open about what gifts she has found through her suffering, how to handle triggers, and ways that friends and family can support their loved one suffering loss. This is the kind of loss that no woman should have to suffer, but 1 in 4 of us do, and we don’t need to suffer alone! If you or someone you care about has lost a child to stillbirth, miscarriage, SIDS, or any other cause at any point during pregnancy or infancy, please join us in raising awareness this October. We are so thankful to Andrea for being so open, and for extending such a big hand of love and support out to our community by sharing her story. We will continue the conversation and never let these sweet babies be forgotten. Andrea has invited anyone suffering this type of loss to reach out to her if you need support, or to talk it through. Please find ways to spread awareness and more ways to support bereaved parents below: Star Legacy’s October #NeverBeStill campaign seeks to break the silence surrounding stillbirth and other pregnancy/infant losses by not only educating the public about ways to support bereaved families but also empowering expectant mothers to have a healthy pregnancy. OCTOBER 15TH – WORLD PREGNANCY & INFANT LOSS REMEMBRANCE DAY On October 15th, participate in the International Wave of Light by lighting a candle at 7 pm local time to honor all babies gone too soon. Keep your candle lit for at least one hour to create a continuous “wave of light” across all time zones covering the entire globe! As a career driven and full time working mom to be, Jessica has some big changes to adjust to, and shares her plan on handling parenting roles - she will continue to be the main earner for their family while hubby becomes the main caregiver-, values and traditions that are important to instill on her child, how she may want to parent differently than she was raised, and the internal struggle that many of us woman feels when we are split between the desire to grow our careers and become a mother. BLAB How to Write Your Elevator Pitch
An elevator pitch is a brief, persuasive speech that you use to spark interest in what you do. A good elevator pitch should last no longer than a short elevator ride of 20 to 30 seconds, hence the name 👏 When you begin writing your pitch, ask yourself these three questions: Who do you help (in an ideal world) What problem are you solving What is your solution? Once you have that narrowed down you can start! 👌 👉 Start with who you are. Write about what you do and how you do it. 👉Explain the results of your work and what makes you unique. 👉Edit what you've written. 👉Add a good conversation-starter at the beginning. 👉Record your pitch. 👉Make sure you stay within the 30 seconds without talking too fast. 👉Practice a lot.

2020 (re)Vision
Ok 2020... we are 6 months in and what is even going on?!? We thought it would be a good idea to pull out those goals we set at the beginning of the year to reassess, adjust, and re inspire ourselves👏🏻 Pull out your goal list, make adjustments for the current times, celebrate your accomplishments, and be realistic on goals that may be a little less achievable than we originally planned. Give yourself grace, patience, and understanding as you move forward with a new outlook on original goals ✨ Hang them somewhere you will actually see them, and come back in a month or two to update 💕

Discover Your Power Color
In this episode the Boss Ladies will teach you how to discover your Power Color based on your power number 👊🏻 To start, let's calculate your daily number. It's a pretty simple calculation. First, add the full current date (day, month, year) to your full birth date, then reduce to one digit. You won't reduce to one digit if you get to a number of 11, 22, or 33. For example, if you were born on January 12 1987 and today was May 5, 2020: 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 8 +7 + 5 + 5 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 0= 43 ———- 4 + 3 = 7 In this example, your daily power number would be 7. Now, with whatever number you land on, you'll want to correlate your wardrobe for the day with the color of that number to ensure you have a balanced day. After you've made your calculation, review the color and number guide below to determine the color you'll need. NUMBER: COLOR: • 1 Red • 2 Orange • 3 Yellow • 4 Green • 5 Blue • 6 Indigo • 7 Violet • 8 Pink Rose • 9 Gold • 11 Silver/White • 22 Red/Gold •33 Sky Blue Now that you've determined what your daily power color is, let's break down how each color is supposed to help the energies in your day: RED: This color in your daily power color represents your need for balance in energies in your power, independence, and authority in the situations you'll face for the day. ORANGE: Orange has a focus on giving you a balance in your tranquility and peace. YELLOW: Yellow balances your optimism and joy in your energy. GREEN: Green provides a more systematic and organized day. BLUE: Blue gives you the freedom to make changes that you've been holding back on. INDIGO: Indigo balances your responsibilities and your love in personal relationships (or with yourself). VIOLET: Violet balances your spiritualism and intuition to help you find guidance within yourself. PINK ROSE: Pink rose balances your gentleness and tenderness. GOLD: Gold helps you materialize the things you need. SILVER/WHITE: Silver helps you focus on a vision and illuminates the path you need to take for your future. RED/GOLD: Red and Gold balances the power you need in achieving abundance and prosperity. SKY BLUE: Sky blue is the calmest of blues and balances your energy in selfless love and fidelity.
