A Lot To Talk About

A Lot To Talk About

By Bradley J Dryburgh

2020 changed the trajectory of my life forever. I was 24, succeeding in a job that promised huge financial reward yet I was unhappy & unfulfilled. My chronic illness (Cystic Fibrosis) had caused my lungs to bleed & Ieft me in a hospital bed fighting for my health. I left that job to create this podcast & I left that hospital bed to run marathons & prove that we aren't defined by our circumstances but rather how we respond to them. On the show, we discuss the adversity my guest's & I face, whilst revealing how we overcome it. This is 'A Lot To Talk About'.

The untold story of Jai Waetford.

The untold story of Jai Waetford.

Jai Waetford was hailed to become the next Justin Bieber when he took the nation by storm on the Australian X-Factor at just 14 years of age. With his meteoric rise to fame came with all of the challenges he was never prepared for, leaving Jai as he describes 'broke, depressed & lost'. That was until, at the depths of rock bottom, Jai made a decision that changed the trajectory of his life in the years that followed. This is his revival. Time Waits For No One - Denham Hitchcock On Leaving A Successful Career To Sail Around The World.

Time Waits For No One - Denham Hitchcock On Leaving A Successful Career To Sail Around The World.

Denham Hitchcock made his living bringing stories to life. On our TV screens for nearly 30 years, he was the jacked, good looking cat reporting on the ground in war zones, unearthing hidden truths & sharing tragic stories & it taught him one thing: 'time waits for no one, dreams shouldn't be left on the pillow'.

That realisation was the catalyst for a major life change when he, his wife & daughter set sail on the adventure of a life time, one he reports to be quite fulfilling.

In our conversation we yarn about some of the lessons he learnt reporting on both tragic & thought provoking stories, the truth about life on a catamaran, what he has learnt about himself along the way & how this isn't just a pipe dream but a very real option for those looking to escape the rat race & how his family made it happen.

The Best Of 'A Lot To Talk About' In 2023.

The Best Of 'A Lot To Talk About' In 2023.

G'day all & welcome to the best of 2023. I sat down & extracted the 6 most impactful lessons I have taken & applied to my life from 6 wildly different & wonderful guests of the show this year. The 6 incredible guests I have featured & lessons they have taught me are: 1. Katharina Kuehn - the neuroscience of self-knowledge: understanding the 5 primal emotions of human behaviour & how we are hardwired so that you can live your most fulfilling & authentic life. 2. Joshua Heares - how your dream day can inform your dream life: the life changing philosophy that aligned Josh with a more fulfilling career path & ultimately encouraged the creation of his fashion label 'Porter James Sport'. 3. Will Ahmed - optimise your health & wellness routine for the kind of life you are trying to live: what a week in sleep, exercise & nutrition looks like for the founder & CEO of $3.6 Billion wellness brand Whoop. 4. Dr Charlie Teo - the path of purpose affords you peace no matter how difficult the journey may be: the worlds most polarising neurosurgeon shares a story that afforded him a valuable lesson to keep prioritising purpose over pay check. 5. Gary Jubelin - live according to your values & your self worth won't be dictated by your outcomes: why you should stand up for what you believe in no matter the cost & how the same obsession that fuels your greatness can be your greatest foe. 6. Bruce Bryan - why you should be like a dandelion: the perspective that empowered Bruce to 'better not bitter' whilst serving 30 years in prison for a murder he was wrongly accused of committing. Keegan Hipgrave: Encouraging Athletes To Be Vulnerable Will Inspire Change.

Keegan Hipgrave: Encouraging Athletes To Be Vulnerable Will Inspire Change.

Keegan Hipgrave was medically retired from the NRL at just 24 years of age, a whole decade before he had planned to call time on the career he had set his sights on as a young man playing Australian school boys alongside some of the games form players.

His exit from the game has afforded him to the time to pursue a path he deems to be full of passion & purpose. His podcast Keegan & Company was built to normalise the conversation around mental health with elite athletes, ultimately setting an example for all Australian's who look to our sports stars as heroes & role models.

This incredibly entertaining & uplifting yarn had it all. We discuss:

- The biggest lesson he learnt from being medically retired.

- Keegs answers 'knowing what you do now, would you change the past if you could'?

- Losing one of his best mates to suicide & how it ignited a purpose to help others.

- Learning from some of the countries best athletes & sharing inspiring stories on his podcast.

- All of this amongst some incredible laughs, inspiring moments & thought provoking conversation.

Age Is Not A Barrier To Achieving Entrepreneurial Success ft. Chris Griffin.

Chris Griffin became an online sensation sharing heartfelt words of wisdom & speaking from his own experience as a 20 something year old. It struck a chord with over 600,000 people on TikTok & Instagram. But as always, there is more to the story...

Chris & I shared a conversation about the identity crisis he experienced as a popular high school student that threw him full force into the world of business & entrepreneurship, co-founding his first company in the software industry at just 17 years of age.

We discussed:

- The failure he experienced early in business & what he learnt from it.

- How naivety & youth can be used as a strength not weakness.

- The pillars of personal fulfilment that remain in his focus for a successful life.- The importance of the company you keep & why you should have hard conversations with mates.- & much more.

Perfectionism Fuelled Success & A Dangerous Obsession ft. Amy Ruffle.

Perfectionism Fuelled Success & A Dangerous Obsession ft. Amy Ruffle.

Amy Ruffle is an actress, comedian & all-round entertainer.

In her adolescent years, Amy trained & competed as an elite diver. It was the early foundation of a relationship with perfectionism that eventually proved to be detrimental to her health, leading her down the path of an eating disorder that she courageously & vulnerably opens up about in the episode.

From the age of 13, acting was on the radar. After leaving school Amy studied musical theatre before landing her first role on TV in Netflix's 'Mako Mermaids'. The show lasted 4 seasons before she left Australia to pursue a career in Hollywood. The 6 years spent in LA introduced her to improv comedy which has no doubt played a major role in her career development & her recent work as one of the consistent faces on the most recent season of Australian TV classic 'Thank God You're Here'.

She is also a producer, writer & passionate advocate for a few worthy causes that are close to her heart.

Outside of her career, Amy's life has had its fair share of adversity, twists & turns, which made for an honest & vulnerable conversation.

Hooked On Life: Living Through The Lens Of The Author ft. Tom Nash.

Hooked On Life: Living Through The Lens Of The Author ft. Tom Nash.

Tom Nash aka 'DJ Hookie' is a quadruple amputee after narrowly surviving the grip of a shock meningococcal diagnosis now 20 years ago. He is the co-founder of Starfvckers, a Sydney based club in which he first headlined as DJ Hookie. He is a world renowned speaker & storyteller, having graced stages across the world including TED X in Sydney during 2019 to deliver his memorable keynote 'The Perks Of Being A Pirate', & he is a newly acclaimed author.

Losing his limbs, particularly his arms has afforded Tom one of his most recognisable features: his pirate hooks. Recalling a conversation with Mark 'Chopper' Read, Tom described a desire to be remembered for more than his physical disability, to live a life interesting enough to write a memoir about. Not only has he lived a life rich in story but his story now finds its place on any good book shelf, by the title of 'Hook, Line & Sinner'.

In this conversation we don't only follow some of Tom's story but we discuss ideas such as:

- Why Tom embraces dark humour.

- Narrowly surviving the meningococcal c-strain & why he had to have all 4 of his limbs amputated.

- Playing the role of the 'author' & how this can afford you a meaningful life.

- The life changing difference between resilience & 'anti-fragility'.

- Reverse engineering your problems to create simple solutions.

3 Mates On What It Means To Be A Leader.

In the name of vulnerability, Brad (The Captain) has come together with 2 of his best mates Tye (Phoony) & Joey (The Zoolander) for a series of episodes to tackle some of life’s big questions, topics & the tough stuff that we so often choose to battle in solitude. The aim is to inspire you to connect with your mates in vulnerability & hold space for each other on the foundation of unconditional love & support, whilst encouraging positive mental health. The boys feel so blessed to have the incredible friendship they do & it’s no coincidence that our depth of conversation has created such strength in our bond. This week they delve into the topic of leadership. All 3 of the lads were set homework to define leadership in their own words, identify leaders that inspire them & speak about the attributes required to step into the role of leadership in their own lives. 'This Too Shall Pass': Hugo Toovey's Decade Long Battle With Testicular & Bowel Cancer //VIDEO.

Hugo Toovey is an incredibly inspiring human being. At the young age of 21, Hugo was diagnosed with testicular cancer & told that it had spread through his body. He could hardly believe the news as a fit young man in the defence force at that time. He would go on to face a bowel cancer diagnosis a little later on, multiple surgeries & treatments to eventually survive a decade long battle. Never-the-less it has left him with complications that make life challenging on a daily basis. Hugo spoke vulnerably about the challenges of these last 10 years. Not only the physical but the mental battles of watching your life slip away from you, seeing your loved ones suffer by your side & sometimes questioning his own will to go on. Despite all of his hardship he found a way out of it & to inspire others. He is the proud founder of '25 Stay Alive' a preventative health movement which educates and inspires younger people to be proactive with their health, an ambassador for mental health foundation 'Gotcha 4 Life' & a brilliant keynote speaker. He also shared some incredibly exciting news on the episode that he & his wife Amber will be welcoming their first child in April 2024, a surprise gift after suspecting that they may have not been able to fall pregnant naturally. Defusing Explosives In Iraq & Afghanistan: Daniel Glenn's Philosophy For Life To Combat Death & Fear // VIDEO.

Defusing Explosives In Iraq & Afghanistan: Daniel Glenn's Philosophy For Life To Combat Death & Fear // VIDEO.

Daniel Glenn served in the United States Navy as an EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) Officer. Roughly 50% of war casualties in Iraq & Afghanistan between late 2011 & 2020 were attributed to IED's (improvised explosive devices), Daniels job was to disarm & dispose of those devices - high stakes but high reward when executed correctly.

Since leaving the Navy, he completed a masters degree as a Schwarzman Scholar (the oldest person to do so at that time), broke a record for the fastest mile in an 85 pound bomb-suit & donned that same suit to complete a half marathon all to raise funds for veterans, he now works as chief of staff for fintech company GoodLeap LLC.

My first meeting with Daniel was in March 2023. We shared the stage at a 3 day speaking summit in Sydney, he was the most effective speaker I had ever watched live. His story held weight & his experiences were inspiring. His life philosophy sang to the tune of 'face your fears, face your enemy (your own weakness), seek adversity, believe in yourself, hear the call to action: your life is today'. A philosophy that inspired much of our conversation, alongside the tale of his remarkable story & the ups & downs of a life that has thrust Dan into the face of danger & deep introspection on a shockingly regular basis.

How A Former Drug Dealer Left Prison, Found Comedy & Changed His Life ft. Andrew Hamilton //VIDEO.

How A Former Drug Dealer Left Prison, Found Comedy & Changed His Life ft. Andrew Hamilton //VIDEO.

In June 2021, Andrew Hamilton was at the tail end of 2 day cocaine bender enjoying Guy Ritchie's 'Wrath Of Man' when NSW Police's 'Raptor Squad' kicked his door in & changed the trajectory of his life forever.

Andrew was at the height of his drug dealing business, bringing in 5 figures a week. His beginnings in the Sydney underworld were as he describes, not morally challenging despite the knowledge he was breaking the law. Unlike heroin & ice, Andrew found his own moral comfort in the knowing that psychedelics weren't responsible for ruining their users lives. But somewhere along the line his own moral compass lost its way & his addictions to cocaine & gambling took over sending him on a spiral towards that fateful police raid that likely saved his life.

After his arrest in 2021, Andrew was sentenced to a maximum security prison. Within the walls of his cell he found sobriety & introspection, with conditional bail, he was released to live with his parents & comedy became his saviour.

In conversation with the award winning comic & soon to be published author, we reflected on his former life & the valuable lessons that has afforded him. We spoke of stand up comedy & what it gives him, all the whilst Andrew took every opportunity available to roast me & have me laughing uncontrollably for stretches of the episode. His story is one of changing your stars & the freedom that living a morally informed life gives your soul. I loved my time in conversation with Andrew & I am certain you will too.

Gary Jubelin On Catching Killers & The Hard Truth Behind Badness // VIDEO.

Gary Jubelin On Catching Killers & The Hard Truth Behind Badness // VIDEO.

Gary Jubelin's 30 years in the NSW Police Force were not for the faint hearted. Arguably Australia's most celebrated homicide detective, Gary was responsible for leading the investigations into some of the countries most high profile cases: missing child William Tyrrell, the horrific case of Anita Cobby & the murder of 3 young Indigenous children in Bowraville. His fame made it's way from crime scenes to TV screens as one of the detectives portrayed in the Australian 'Underbelly' series, but it all come at a heavy cost.

In 2019 Gary resigned from the force after being stood down over allegations of misconduct. He stands by his decision to record conversations with a person of interest in the William Tyrell case, having made a commitment to William's family that he would do whatever he could to bring them the closure they deserve. Gary was later criminally charged but has no regrets.

Taking his passion for crime into life as a reporter & storyteller, Gary is the voice behind the popular true crime podcast 'I Catch killers' & 2 book's (I Catch Killers & Badness). His experience on the other side of crime has opened his eyes to a world in which not everything looks black & white anymore, it's deeper than that. He shares stories on meeting & befriending some of Australia's most notorious cons, what they have taught him about life & the new perspective he has gained as to what fuels crime in the first place.

After sitting down with Gary for an incredibly honest & vulnerable conversation, I can honestly say that he is a great human being. A man who dedicated much of his life at great personal cost to bring some of our countries most evil individuals to justice, who now, through his career as a storyteller is using the power of empathy to understand what drives someone to a life of crime & how we can correct their course before it's too late.

An All Black Legend's Battle With Anxiety & Depression ft. Sir John Kirwan // VIDEO.

An All Black Legend's Battle With Anxiety & Depression ft. Sir John Kirwan // VIDEO.

At the 1987 Rugby World Cup, All-Blacks legend John Kirwan scored a length of the field try & in turn, he inspired a generation of future all-blacks & rugby greats to follow their own dreams. On the surface, he was the fit & strapping superstar that every young man wanted to be, but below the surface, he was fighting the toughest battle of his life: anxiety & depression.

JK talks of his fear for speaking out at that troubling time. The fear that his career would be taken from him, that he would be labelled insane. It all came to a head in August, 1991, when on tour with the AB's in Argentina, he wanted to jump out of a 10-story hotel window. The kind words of a team mate saved JK's life that night.

Fast forward several years and JK is now widely recognised as one of ‘the faces’ of depression and anxiety in New Zealand. In 2012, he was knighted for his services to mental health, an honour he strives to live up to every day. He’s the founder of several mental wellbeing organisations including the Sir John Kirwan Foundation, Mitey, and most recently, Groov, a workplace mental wellbeing platform. He’s also the author of All Blacks Don’t Cry: A Story of Hope and Stand By Me: Helping Your Teen Through Tough Times. He is also an incredibly talented keynote speaker, coach & commentator.

Bruce Bryan Spent 29 Years In Prison, Wrongfully Convicted Of Murder // VIDEO.

I first heard Bruce Bryan's story on Joe Rogan's podcast in June 2023. I was moved to tears at what this man has endured despite his innocence. Released from Sing Sing Correctional Facility in NY, Bruce was granted clemency & is awaiting full exoneration. How Bruce was wrongfully convicted of such a heinous crime will make your blood boil. How any human could be robbed of 29 precious years yet choose to see it as an opportunity to be better not bitter, will inspire you to embrace the power of perspective in your own life. The reason I was captivated by Bruce Bryan's story was for the very reason that he embraces the notion that 'life comes from us, not at us'. He so beautifully said in our conversation, 'I chose not to become a product of my environment but rather to make my environment a product of me'. I am blessed to say that Bruce & I now consider ourselves mates. It is easy to bond with a friendly soul, who speaks out with an air of wisdom & smile's with a zest for the opportunities of a new life on the other side of his greatest hardship. Now committed to his work alongside his lawyer & great friend Josh Dubin at 'The Perlmutter Centre for Legal Justice', Bruce is a criminal legal reform strategist, mentor & speaker. In arguably the most moving story I have ever shared on this podcast. We discuss: - Bruce's life before & throughout his prison sentence. - The mentors & fellow inmates who inspired Bruce to embrace education, introspection & a meditation practice to transform his life. - The lessons he learnt through his adversity. - Day to day life in prison. - The legal slavery that takes place within correction facilities. - The prison business that thrives on returning inmates. - The links between poverty & crime: how we can make a difference. - Bruce's inspiring message & purpose on the other side of it all. There is a GoFundMe to support Bruce while he finds his feet. Your support would be greatly appreciated: https://gofund.me/a1f61da1 Be sure to follow Bruce & I on socials: (Insta/TikTok) @bradleyjdryburgh & @bruce.bryan24 To book me for a keynote, check the link below:https://www.saxton.com.au/speakers/bradley-dryburgh Follow/Subscribe to the show on your platform of choice, leave a 5 star rating & kind review to help us reach new listeners & uplift others like yourself around the world & share the episode with a mate that would find it valuable! Curiosity Created A Multi-Billion Dollar Company ft. Will Ahmed, The Founder & CEO of Whoop // VIDEO.

Curiosity Created A Multi-Billion Dollar Company ft. Will Ahmed, The Founder & CEO of Whoop // VIDEO.

Will Ahmed walked into Harvard with an intention to study Government & Economics. His athletic endeavours as a university squash player had formed a fascination with human physiology, but with a propensity to overtrain & burn out, Will's curiosity for turned to the 20 hours of his day in which he wasn't training but rather recovering.

Within little time, he found himself chasing physiology classes to feed his curiosity. Early on, he identified 3 key indicators of performance that remain an integral part of his success to this day.

In his final year of university, Will founded Whoop. Now 11 years on, Whoop is a 3.6 Billion dollar business, worn by the biggest athletes across the world: Patrick Mahomes, Lebron James & Rory Mcllroy to name just a few. Not only is Whoop worn by the superstars we see on TV but rather it has become an assessable tool for the everyday human, with an interest in optimising sleep, day to day energy or even as Will explains for himself 'optimising life as a CEO'.

In this conversation, we discussed:

- How curiosity created Whoop.

- Why self-belief is essential when travelling the road-less-ordinary.

- Why you have to detach your identity from the success of your business/brand.

- Key tools & practises for optimising your health & wellbeing.- The importance of sleep hygiene.- Will's advice to find fulfilment & success in life.

3 Mates On Habit Creation & Distraction Extraction

In the name of vulnerability, Brad (The Captain) has come together with 2 of his best mates Tye (Phoony) & Joey The Zoolander) for a series of episodes to tackle some of life’s big questions, topics & the tough stuff that we so often choose to battle in solitude. This week they delve into the topic of habits & distraction. All 3 of the lads set themselves a challenge a week prior to the pod, to form a new habit or remove an unhealthy distraction & report back their results. They discussed the triggers of their bad habits & the systems they are aiming to put in place for future peace & success. 36 Half Ironmans In 36 Days ft. Layne Storrier // VIDEO.

Layne Storrier & I first met at Never Lazy Run Club & were instantly mates. Over his first 12k run & a coffee he shared his desire to run 100km by the years end. When I hear his plans, his nickname ‘Layneo insaneo’ started to make a whole lot of sense but as he’s gone on to prove, what’s insane to many is most certainly achievable for the big fella. His next challenge begins on September 1st in which Layneo will tackle 36 Half Ironmans in 36 days. Not only is he doing it to test himself & to hopefully set a world record, but he’s chosen to do it & raise funds for the cause that is close to my heart- Cystic Fibrosis Australia. He is calling the challenge ‘Breaking Barriers for CF’ & I encourage everyone to get behind the great man with messages of support & to help him in his fundraising goal of $100k.

Inspirational Neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo Reveals The Trials, Tribulations & The Truth Of His Professional Exile // VIDEO.

Inspirational Neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo Reveals The Trials, Tribulations & The Truth Of His Professional Exile // VIDEO.

Charlie Teo is an inspirational neurosurgeon who has saved & extended thousands of lives operating on the brain tumours that were deemed by so many of his peers as ‘inoperable’.
The medical board & many Australian media sources have taken it upon themselves to persecute Charlie for his work & as a result he is no longer able to operate in Australia.

Having raised over $50M for brain cancer research through his own foundation, whilst still flying around the world in hopes to help the patients who's lives depend on it, Charlie is fighting for what he believes in: a simple ethos that has defined his work from the moment it began... to treat his patients like they are his own family.

An honest conversation that cuts through the bullshit to deliver the truth of Charlie Teo's story, whilst exploring some of the lessons he has learnt along the way & the stories that have given him an inspiring perspective we can all learn from.

How To Design Your Ideal Life ft. Joshua Heares // VIDEO.

How To Design Your Ideal Life ft. Joshua Heares // VIDEO.

Joshua Heares is the man behind the brand ‘Porter James Sport’.

Formerly working within the branding & advertising industry, Josh had reached a milestone in his corporate career by the young age of 26, appointed as a manager of the company, working with well known brands from across the world. Despite the early 'success' he was having, he couldn't help but feel as though there was a missing piece of the puzzle as he looked down the barrel of his future within the corporate world.

A conversation with a respected mentor prompted Josh to ask the question 'how do I find my dream job?' to which his mentors answer would change the trajectory of Josh's life & career. The answer was simply a question asked of Josh, 'what does your ideal day look like?'. That question spurred on the creation of a brand that gave Josh the freedom of schedule to do what he loves & set his life up around it. An internal decision to build something that not only lights a fire in his belly, but fuels a life by design.

In this episode we discuss:

- Identifying what is truly important to us in the process of designing your ideal day.

- Strategising your exit & entrance into the next chapter of your life.

- The purpose behind 'Porter James Sport'.

- The power of love & surrounding yourself with quality people.

- Learning to say no to things that don't serve us & respecting your own time.

- The brand identity of 'Porter James Sport'.

- Josh's message to the world.

Gratitude For Life As A Quadriplegic ft. Alex Noble // VIDEO.

Gratitude For Life As A Quadriplegic ft. Alex Noble // VIDEO.

In 2018, like many young Aussie men, Alex Noble's primary focus in life was to attain a career as a professional rugby league player, get girls & look good. Then on one day, in the matter of one moment, his life would change forever.

At a NSW schoolboys training session, Alex experienced a traumatic life-changing injury, breaking his neck & leaving him as doctor's would diagnose, 'a permanent quadriplegic'.

Losing all movement from the neck down, Alex found himself in a hospital bed able to move only his eye balls. 5 days after life saving surgery with his family seated at the foot of his hospital bed, Alex couldn't help but hear his family's defeated tone of voice as they spoke about their new harsh reality. In a bid to lift their spirit, Alex spoke his first words 5 days after the accident. 5 words that would change the trajectory of his life forever, define the foundation of his mindset & inspire millions of Australian's in the process of his recovery. The words: 'If I fight, you fight' left Alex's mouth & with those words, a fire was lit & it still burns bright today.

This is only the start of Alex Noble's story. Tune into this beautiful conversation, as Alex's inspirational words move me & prove that nothing is impossible with the following topics of our conversation:

- The moments & emotions surrounding Alex's life changing accident.

- The power of mindset.

- Developing the resilience to survive & thrive in the face of extreme adversity.

- Crafting new purpose & pivoting in life.

- Achieving a state of peace through an attitude of gratitude for our greatest hardship.

- Maximise success & growth in life.

- The beauty of being alive & why Alex's breathes a sigh of relief when he wakes in the morning.

3 Mates Share Their Top 5 Core Values Pt 2 // VIDEO.

3 Mates Share Their Top 5 Core Values Pt 2 // VIDEO.

*This is part 2 of our core values episode. If you haven't yet heard part 1 in which Tye & Joey share their top 5 core values, I suggest tuning into that first. In this part 2, you will hear Brad's take as the boys continue to discuss the role that values & actions play in being a 'good man'.

In the name of vulnerability, Brad (The Captain) has come together with 2 of his best mates Tye (Phoony) & Joey The Zoolander) for a series of episodes to tackle some of life’s big questions, topics & the tough stuff that we so often choose to battle in solitude.

This week they delve into the topic of CORE VALUES. To set the tone of the episode Brad shared a written piece on 'what it means to be a good man', eluding to the point that 'good men show up in the world according to their values, even or maybe more importantly, when the world isn't working in their favour'. As always, the lads were set a piece of homework to bring to the episode, & this week, their task was to define their top 5 core values & an action that aligned with all of those values to ensure they are showing up in the world that way.

It was an honest & vulnerable conversation in which the 3 mates got real with the values that have challenged them & the importance of those in which they identified as their top 5. Enjoy another vulnerable episode full of valuable & actionable insight with the 3 mates.

Building An Un-breakable Mindset ft. Zac Lomax // VIDEO.

On this episode of the podcast, I shared a conversation with one of my best mates & St George Illawarra Dragons centre Zac Lomax.

Zac Lomax was recently dropped from the Dragon's NRL side in a shock move that made headlines across the NRL by the now former coach Anthony Griffin.

In the week prior to our conversation Zac had an outstanding game for the Dragon's reserve grade side showing that he deserves to be back in the NRL side & that was proven with his selection this week.

In this conversation, Zaccy & I discuss:

- Responding to challenge with positive perspective & resilience.

- Developing an un-breakable mindset.

- Setting up support systems to lean on in challenging times.

- Defining effort as your currency of success.

- The lessons he's learnt from some of the humans he looks up to.

- What to expect next for Zac Lomax.

Control Your Actions & Beliefs In A Life Of Uncertain Outcomes.

Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's profound poem 'If', I took the time to sit down & shares some thoughts around some of the key themes in the poem:

- Displaying courage in the face of uncertain outcomes. The lessons I've learnt in my own experience with this & lessons I have learnt from former Navy Seal & author 'Rich Diviney'.

- Moving forward with time & avoiding decision paralysis.

- Controlling our actions & beliefs when are outcomes aren't favourable.

- Developing as a man in the modern world.

3 Mates On: Forming Your Identity Through Crisis & Questioning // VIDEO.

In the name of vulnerability, Brad (The Captain) has come together with 2 of his best mates Tye (Phoony) & Joey The Zoolander) for a series of episodes to tackle some of life’s big questions, topics & the tough stuff that we so often choose to battle in solitude.

This week they delve into the topic of IDENTITY. The lads spent a weekend away working through some questions & taking some time to get reflective on their lives up until now & putting real focus on the question of 'who am I?' Each of them found that at 1 point in their journey, they had a crisis moment that encouraged them to question their identity & the kind of men they want to be. In this episode, they identified the point of crisis & discussed the actions they have taken to form the identity that allows them to show up in the world authentically.

A Young Widow's Guide To Grief ft. Lotte Bowser // VIDEO.

Lotte is a British writer, speaker and advocate for loss and grief awareness following the deaths of her partner and father to cancer. Contributing regular culture and lifestyle features for Refinery29 and ITV’s Woo, her work has been published in the UK, US, Germany and Australia.

She has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, The Express and The Mirror. Lotte is represented by literary agent Megan Staunton at Bergstrom Studio. She is currently working on her first book.

My first introduction to Lotte was through a beautifully written & heartfelt message I received to be a guest on her podcast. We flipped the script in this conversation & discussed Lotte's experience of love & life after loss, grief & acceptance.

Whilst this is an incredibly emotional story, Lotte closed our conversation with a message of hope for those who like her, are living with the pain of grief.

Katharina Kuehn: The Cheat Code To Answering Life's Biggest Question // VIDEO.

Katharina Kuehn is a neuroscientist & chief strategy officer at Winning Group, a published author & keynote speaker. Her expertise in the field of neuroscience has been used to predict human/consumer behaviour for some of the biggest companies around the world. Katharina founded 'Deep Sphere', a neuroscience based assessment that provides a blueprint of human nature and behaviour. It was developed during 2 decades of research and a systematic review of the latest neuroscience papers on how our genes, neurotransmitters, hormones, emotions and narratives influence who we are. Followed by empirical testing with a sample of more than half a million people in total to date. Finally distilled down to the most predictive dimensions and associated assessment. The result is the most diagnostic, predictive yet accessible assessment of who we are at the deepest level. In this highly valuable conversation we discussed: - The 5 primal emotions of human behaviour. - How understanding 'who we are' can have a profound impact on how we live & express our personality. - The science backed strategies to make better decisions in life. - The reason we care what others think about us: How to stop caring & comparing. - The 2 factors that can effect our biochemistry. - How to answer life's biggest question of 'who am I?' - to help you answer this, Kat has been kind enough to offer listeners of the pod access to her deep sphere assessment for FREE in the first 72 hours of the pod going live! Dan Churchill: Start With The End In Mind.

Dan Churchill: Start With The End In Mind.

Dan Churchill burst onto the scene as a contestant of Master Chef Australia in 2013. With a degree in strength & conditioning, Dan had a passion for health & fitness but that passion didn't live & die in the gym, it was well & truly alive in the kitchen too.

Growing up with a family that loved food & enjoyed a healthy dose of Jamie Oliver on the evening tele, Dan had already self published his own cookbook without any professional training as a chef before his debut on the hit tv series. Whilst on the show, he realised he would have a short window to capitalise on the newfound attention, so without hesitation, his second cookbook was ready to hit shelves as soon as his time on the show came to an end. Moving with the power of social media & youtube, Dan dived head first into the content game & cooking has been his vehicle to have a positive impact on millions across the world.

The now 33 year old has been living in NYC for several years, having created a number of businesses, an epic podcast & a following that has put him in the path of Hollywood's biggest celebrities as 'The Healthy Chef' we can't get enough of. I had the pleasure of meeting Dan in NYC last year & it comes as no surprise he is the superstar that he is his.

We spoke about:

- Starting with the end in mind.

- The adversity you are bound to face along the road to success.

- The power of authenticity & why you should be a pioneer not a follower.

- The value of self improvement.

- & much more, in this compelling conversation.

Jemma Sbeg: Understanding The Psychology Of Your 20's // VIDEO.

Jemma Sbeg is the mega-star host of the insanely popular podcast 'The Psychology Of Your 20's'. The psychology graduate used her podcast as an audio journal to share some of her most vulnerable & challenging moments with little to no audience in the early days. After a rather honest episode on loneliness, the show took off & Jemma has amassed an incredible 10 million listeners who tune in to her soothing voice & sharp mind as she tackles the challenges we can all relate to in our early adulthood. We discussed: - Insecurities & comparison. - Carving your authentic identity. - Mental health. - Internal & external changes & their effect on our mental framework. It was such a pleasure to host Jemma & share her story. Look out for my guest episode on her platform in the coming months. Katharina & I connected at 'Human Kind'. A 3 day summit at Luna Park in Sydney in which we were both keynote speakers amongst a host of the best speakers, thought leaders & entertainers from around the world. After my time on stage, I completed the deep sphere assessment before Kat & her co host Tim discussed the results & how that links to my story & human experience on this podcast episode for you all to hear. I was fascinated by the accuracy of the results & loved how this made sense of my journey, personality & behaviours.

Kat & her team were kind enough to give me their blessing to share the episode with you all & in more exciting news, we have booked a podcast to dive further into the neuroscience of self knowledge next month, stay tuned for that!

This week they delve into the topic of LIMITING BELIEFS. They aim to identify what they see as their own limiting beliefs, how the beliefs effect their lives, the origin of the beliefs & how they can work towards overcoming them, while identifying some limiting beliefs they see in each other.

They also discuss the self fulfilling prophecy in which beliefs dictate behaviours in which behaviours dictate outcomes & outcomes reinforce the original belief. They identify how this prophecy can have a negative or positive effect on ones life.

Highlight: Sam Tait: Allowing Yourself To Grieve Is A Part Of The Healing Process.

This is a highlight moment from the full episode with Sam Tait. If you enjoy this highlight, I'd highly encourage you to listen to the full episode.

--

At just 22 years of age, Sam Tait left for a morning ride with mates. By the afternoon, he'd broken his T11 vertebrae in a motorcycle accident that rendered him a paraplegic from the waist down.

During this episode, Sam & I connected on the power of a quote that has defined his life since that harrowing accident on the 27th of April 2013. 'Sometimes when you're in a dark place, you think you've been buried but actually you've been planted'. It is that quote, that message that defines Sam's actions in the wake of the accident. He has chosen not to be a victim of his circumstances but rather to form new purpose & live life to the fullest.

We discuss:

- Allowing yourself to grieve.

- Acceptance of self & the power of embracing your authenticity.

- Forming new purpose in the wake of life altering events.

- Sam's Paralympic goals.

- The power of love.

- How to respect people with disabilities.

This was such a powerful conversation & whilst Sam & I have lived very different lives, we connected deeply on our thoughts & feelings towards our life purpose.

This is a highlight moment from recent podcast episode '3 Mates Define Masculinity'.

The boys feel so blessed to have the incredible friendship they do & it’s no coincidence that our depth of conversation has created such strength in our bond.

This week they delve into the topic of masculine & feminine energy. Aiming to define what 'masculinity' means to them & discuss why the masculine & feminine conversation is too often rooted in competition instead of COLLABORATION.

Traditionally masculinity has been associated with men & femininity with women. As society evolves, we see the presence of both energies on a spectrum in which masculine & feminine energy exist in their natural polarity but are accessed & embodied at varying levels relevant to your own human experience.

The lads discuss their own personal experience with both masculine & feminine energy, they share their own definitions of masculinity alongside the definitions provided by key women in their lives & also their thoughts on the insecurity rooted in 'toxic or 'undeveloped' masculinity.
