Prioritising your goals and self-care by applying the Eisenhower Matrix
What's the most effective way to prioritise your tasks (and goals)? I’ve been using this particular practical hack to prioritize tasks, and I’ve come to realize that this also works wonders for protecting your offline time, and to do other things than, for instance, doom scrolling in turbulent times. I’ll share the tip with you today, and who knows, perhaps it might also work for you. And what if, without complicated situations, you could know every day of the year that you are 100% sure you are working on the right thing? Let's dive in!

How to boost your performance by exercising and training your brain
---
Hi, I'm Jojanneke, the founder of Brave Changemakers, partner in innovation methods and performance mentoring. I help people achieve worthy goals that instigate change, with resilience, creativity & empathy. At TEDx, I spoke about building a life for myself after losing my parents when I was fourteen years old. I wrote two books: 'Live Your Talks' (on how to prepare for a TEDx talk), and 'So, You're An Orphan Now', which is an autobiography with an educational angle. I founded the Dutch NGO WeesWijzer.org, which advocates for orphaned kids in the Netherlands, and helps them build a better life for themselves. I also work for TU Delft University of Technology as a digital strategist.
How to assemble an effective creative team
If you want to achieve a worthy goal, you’ll probably won’t reach it all by yourself. So you need a team. And if you want to create anything significant, you need to assemble a creative team. So...how do you do that? In short: variety in people, expertises, and perspectives. But of course, there’s more to it. Where creativity flourishes, ideas and solutions for pressing issues and fun things arise. If you’d define creativity, it’s probably something along the lines of: Making connections and creating associations between different things, thinking of solutions for an issue, and merging and transforming your findings into a new context and improving on what you come up with.
This is in many cases a process you can do by yourself, if you are blessed with a healthy level of resourcefulness. But working together and switching perspectives usually works wonders if you’re facing a creative challenge that needs a solution for more people than just yourself. Creating a team to innovate and create, is therefore the fastest route to actually finding a fitting solution. But how do you create a creative team for your particular challenge? Let's dive in.

Three Keys To Instigating Social Change
Hi, and welcome to the Brave Changemakers Podcast. Today, I want to share three necessary keys for instigating social change.
A few years ago, I gave a TEDx talk. It was about how I lost my parents when I was fourteen, and how I had to build my life for myself in the years that followed, without much support. At school, and in society. In the end I did find my way, but it didn't happen easily, or automatically. The talk was also about what's necessary for kids without parents, to be able to create a life worth living. I discovered three crucial factors for every orphan, and pretty much for every person who has to go through challenges early on in life. This episode is about these three keys: to notice and to be noticed, to facilitate and to be facilitated, and to empowerer, and to be empowered. If these three things hadn't appeared on my path when I was a teenager, things might have turned out quite differently for me. And these keys actually apply to anyone who experiences something intensely drastic. Something life changing. Something that puts you in a vulnerable position.
But if you have these things, then what? Should your just go on with your life, or is there a task for you, something that brings value to someone else's life? Or a little bit of both? And how does noticing, facilitating and empowering translate to today? Let's dive in!

Radical Empathy Is Not For The Faint Of Heart
Hello, and welcome to Brave Changemakers. Today I'm sharing something about radical empathy, and about how this can change your life and your work. And trust me, there is nothing wishy-washy about radical empathy. It is not For The Faint Of Heart.
Empathy, as most of us know, is the ability to imagine what someone feels, while going through something, and being able to empathize with that person's situation, by imagining yourself in that person's situation. Most people do have the natural ability to empathize, and for the feel good factor of this podcast, let's assume that both of us do have it.
Ever since the first corona wave faded, and people went on to enjoy their summer holiday, it seems as if empathy has faded into the background throughout the corona crisis. Most of the hoarded toilet paper is used up by now, and we've gotten more comfortable going to supermarkets, and trust that other people are equally able to take care of business. And now, quite some months later, people have other priorities, that are more focused on their own survival, and that of their families, businesses, and their country. Which is understandable. Be that as it may, more people than ever are suffering emotionally because of the on again and off again local lockdowns. Bars open, bars closed, bars open again (hurray!), and bars closed once more. People are getting annoyed, to put it mildly. And indeed, businesses suffer because of the necessary safety measures to prevent more people from getting infected.
We also notice people having short fuses more often. In the supermarket someone bumps into you without a mask, and coughs, with virus-infused splatter in a 5 feet radius, aerosols not included. This can be very annoying. And dangerous. No bueno. But can you still empathize with someone's discomfort of coughing uncontrollably?
I talked about radical empathy on numerous occasions over the last seven years, and I sometimes got vague looks. 'Radical empathy', what IS that. So...this episode is all about it!

You Are Not What You Own (And This Actually Is Great News)
You are not what you own, and that is an incredibly reassuring fact. Surprising, no? Today, I'm sharing what I hope to be comforting and helpful to you. It has to do with resilience, and dealing with loss, as many of us are. The main thought of today is: You are not what you have, and that's a big reassurance!
Many people miss something, or a lot, of what they had in 'the old days', before you know what hit the globe. Perhaps it's a healthy turnover and good business, big in real life audiences for your keynotes, summer holidays, and that extra social ecosystem which is the office. Or perhaps other things you treasured.
You found out that life isn't just a project that you can create at will, in any shape, at any given time. Perhaps this was one big unpleasant surprise, since most success gurus were telling you to grit it out, and to hustle your way to success, if only you'd follow their surefire method or example. Or perhaps your parents told you that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to, because for them, so much more became possible in the last couple of decades, so much more than their parents had ever experienced. But now, times have changed. The viewpoint of the thought 'I can achieve anything, regardless what's going on in the world' turns out to be heartbreakingly wrong. Our lives turn out to be a lot more vulnerable than we feel comfortable with. And at the very least, some cracks have appeared in the image of malleable happiness. If you have trouble with what you have lost, for the unforeseeable future, you may find comfort in the fact that what you thought you had, or actually did have, does not in fact define your identity.
