Bridging the Gap

Bridging the Gap

By Shagae Jones

Bridging the Gap is a chance to bring people together to talk about hard things and discover bridges through the process. As we travel together in this pursuit of building bridges with fellow journeyers, concepts and systems, remember the principle of ‘bridging the gap’ is quite simple --- it’s moving from Point A to Point B, moving from where you are to where you want to be, or my favorite, putting on new lenses in which to see in a different way.

Bridging the Gap with Mental Health - Part 2

This episode continues the discussion on Mental Health with my two adult children: Parks and Hallie. They have each had their own unique experience with depression and/or anxiety. I've invited them to share their story which includes how collegiate sports and education can add to Mental Health concerns and unwellness.

Introduction - Bridging the Gap

Bridging the Gap is a chance to bring people together to talk about hard things and discover bridges through the process. As we travel together in this pursuit of building bridges with fellow journeyers, concepts and systems, remember the principle of ‘bridging the gap’ is quite simple --- it’s moving from Point A to Point B, moving from where you are to where you want to be, or my favorite, putting on new lenses in which to see in a different way.

We live in a culture that seeks to divide and emphasize the differences between us. Deep within, don’t we truly have an innate desire to relate not debate! To be understood not to be lectured. To have a voice rather than to be shamed or feared into silence. I’d like to suggest that we are much more alike than we might think; we have commonalities galore. Where we do see differences and disagreements, could we make a 180 and see opportunities for growth, learning and healing.
