BHP Book Club - Author Bo Bennett, PhD - Season 3 Episode 1

BHP Book Club - Author Bo Bennett, PhD - Season 3 Episode 1

What do you know about critical thinking? Well today we welcome Author Bo Bennett, PhD. Bo has written several books on the subject. He is well versed writer and has tackled both fiction and non fiction. To see all of his books and connect with Bo visit www.bobennett.com

More about Bo

By age 10, Robert "Bo" Bennett started listening to and reading personal development tapes and books. Over the years, he has developed a science-based approach to success that differs quite a bit from the over-hyped success guru's approaches commonly seen today. Before beginning his lifelong quest to shape the lives of others, he had to prove to himself that his theories, beliefs, and convictions worked.

At age 10, Bo started in business by creating and selling wooden key racks in his father's workshop. Since then, he has started several companies and sold them anywhere from $1 to $20,000,000.00.

After selling his first company of significant value, Bo began writing Year To Success, the most comprehensive book ever written on success, based on his experiences, thoughts, and timeless success principles.

More about Bruce

I started writing as a healing process during my fight with depression and anxiety. I added these books to my Amazon profile to help others during their journey. I am not a psychologist though, it is based purely on my journey and experiences.

After a long break, my friend Chris Smith (a published author) was writing and he said, "why not write a book?" I tried to ignore him and succeeded for a while. During the hard lock down in South Africa, my wife sent me a lit of "50 things to do during lock down" and number 26 was 'Write a book' so that's what I did.

BBLS was a game where we would switch ages and pretend to be each other. In 2018, when I was eleven years-old, I decided to make the adventures we went on in the game real and began writing Big Brother, Little Sister. Since I love music, reading, and have always been creative, my family was not surprised when I decided to become an author.

Through "The Color Orange,'' her goal is to change the 'single-story narrative' often surrounding disability in neuro-typical culture by providing a series of narratives in the back of the book from people with disabilities themselves, and siblings of those with disabilities. Each of their stories is unique, carrying a wide range of experience through the lens of disability.

More about Christy

I’ve always been a driven person, and while being “driven” can help you get what you want, how do we learn how to want the right things?

What I wanted – was purpose.
But I didn’t even know what purpose felt like. All I knew was that it didn’t feel like this.

So I focused my attention on attracting feelings of purpose. Keep in mind I had no idea about the law of attraction at this time of my life; I simply reasoned to myself that if I didn’t know what something was, – I needed to focus my attention on it so IT could find me!

BHP Book Club - Meet Author Hollywood Capone - S2 E3

Today we welcome new Author Hollywood Capone (coolest name ever)! He shares with us his book The Ashes and his writing journey, and talks about new projects coming up! Join us!

More about Hollywood

My parents were hard working city kids from Newark N.J. and they were both out of their minds. I spent a great deal of my life brushing it off and pretending things were great but they weren't and here I am amazed that I survived at all. My sister didn't and the jury is still out on my brother although I'm always rooting for him. Writing, for me, is an escape, a way out. I could let myself go in some poem or write a forgettable tune on guitar and for a time i would feel almost normal. Almost, but not quite. I was in the first grade when I wrote my first poem "Tracks in Snow" and then later on I figured out how to write a clever Haiku. When I was committed to rehab at 15 years old (about 2 years before I used any drugs at all), I wrote a novel's worth of poetry and short stories which were summarily thrown away by my mother as garbage and unclean.. Oh well. This may be TMI but it all leads me to here, this place in time where I have written and published my first real work. Work. That's what it really is, was, will be. For years I tried to write something worthy of a next step but I never made the connection to misery and self loathing that makes it possible, for me anyway. When Allan died I had to write about it. I was angry, I felt jipped, and I was finally at a place in my life where I could see a little clearer and grind through the angst. Thank you for taking the time to meet me. I'll see you in my next story.

Meet Author David Anderson

Today I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Author David Anderson. David's book titled DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL is the story of coping with clinical depression. As David put it "I had been living with a depressed brain my whole life and didn’t know it."  David hopes that him sharing his story will help others. You can learn more about David and purchase his book at https://davidandersontheauthor.com/books/. I'm happy that David has decided to share his story with and be the newest member to the ever growing book club.

With authors as good as this, why aren't you listening?

David Anderson is a freelance writer and a Bible Geek. His two favorite subjects for writing are Biblical Commentary and Biblical Fiction. He even got a Masters of Theological Studies and a Masters of Theology degree just so he would have the opportunity to read and translate from the Hebrew and Greek texts. Doing this took his imagination places it never would have gone otherwise, which for writing is very important.

He is a member of the Foothills Writers Guild. He is the winner of the Juanita Garrison Prize for Unpublished Fiction. He would like to see Biblical Fiction recognized as a separate category from Christian Fiction. Christian Fiction should be seen as a subgenre of Biblical Fiction. Examples of Biblical Fiction that are not Christian Fiction would include Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent and Ron Hansen’s Atticus. Anderson might read and write Christian Fiction, but focuses more on Biblical Fiction.
