The Broken English Podcast on the Ruptured TV Series, Scorsese's "The Irishman" and Noah Baumbach's "Marriage Story"

In this podcast Hugo discusses the Montréal based end of the world TV show, Ruptured. What inspired it, how long and where it was written and the history of the name Broken English/Broken English Films.

He also talks about Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman" and Noah Baumbach's "Marriage Story" as well as touching on Disney+ and Apple TV+. Also, apparently Martin Scorsese is meeting with Disney head Bob Iger in response to his comments about Marvel cinema. Hopefully Marty's bringing his heavies, he should know gangster meeting lore by now.

Film Stand Ins? Did any TV shows actually end well? Why are we talking about Netflix yet again?

Film Stand Ins? Did any TV shows actually end well? Why are we talking about Netflix yet again?

We're talking about Netflix again because in 2019, who isn't? But more so because of their decision to purchase the Paris Theater in Manhattan, New York. The Paris Theater is a single screen cinema which Netflix has taken over to exclusively showcase some of their feature films like "Marriage Story."

Bola and Hugo also talk about stand ins, the position on set that both of them have performed many a time whereby the crew light and use another person while the actor rests and preps lines. Not only that, los dos hombres discuss the disappointing endings of shows like "Game of Thrones" and "Dexter" amongst others and whether skipping the introductory set up of a show is a good feature that Netflix have given to the world.

The Eternal Sleep movie

The Eternal Sleep movie

Bola and Hugo discuss Hugo's screenplay and forthcoming film, "The Eternal Sleep." They also delve into what it means to dream, what dreams are and some personal experiences they've had in their own dreams. The Eternal Sleep's premise: Set in New York City in 2010, The Eternal Sleep straddles the questions of life after death and the moral choices individuals can make about their own lives. The film revolves around an eccentric neuroscientist trying to find out whether we can stay alive in our dreams if we die in our sleep. We all wonder what happens after the final closing of our eyelids, Dr. Jacquelyn Walsh is no different. The only thing that could separate her from your average person is rather than the traditional view most people have of death being a passage into another higher realm, Jacquelyn believes it's actually just a continuation we visit on a nightly basis. She claims to know that dreams are in actual fact eternal life and that we already know where heaven and our souls reside - our minds.
