Missing & Exploited Children
On this can't-miss episode of Shop Talk with the Sheriff, I sit down with child advocate Callahan Walsh from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Mr. Walsh grew up never meeting his brother. His brother, Adam Walsh, was kidnapped and murdered. The tragedy motivated his parents, John and Revé Walsh, to utilize their pain to prevent others from experiencing it. Callahan Walsh has carried on his family legacy by doing everything in his power to assist law enforcement in the recovery of missing children, reducing child exploitation and preventing child victimization. Never Leave a Child in a Car (Hyperthermia)
Temperatures inside a car can heat up by 50 degrees or more within 30 minutes. On any given day in South Florida, the results can be fatal. Special Guest Melanie Brocato, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Life Safety Educator, joins me to talk about the misconceptions of leaving children in a locked vehicle, what to do if you witness it, and the leading causes for a parent or caregiver leaving a child alone in a car. Turning Passion Into Purpose - Heather Geronemus and Mothers Against Drunk Driving
LOCAL HEROES SERIES: From the age of 3, Heather Geronemus has been saving the world one person at a time, modeling a life of service. She joins me for a dynamic and informative discussion about the ways Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) supports one victim every eight minutes. After tragically losing her father to a drunk driver in 2009, Heather understands the essential role MADD plays in the community. She proudly serves as the Chair on the MADD National Board of Directors as well as locally for MADD South Florida. Heather also serves as the Chairwoman for the Sheriffs Foundation of Broward County which raises funds to support vital community projects, fallen heroes, training and equipment needs. Behind the Scenes of BSO's Elite Aviation Unit
Covering 1,300 square miles and serving almost 2 million residents, BSO's Aviation Unit is the only law enforcement aviation unit operating in Broward County.
